  1. Wow! Congratulations Mike. This eclipse thing must have been a popular time for proposals. A very good friend of my daughter's did the same thing on Monday! I wish you all the best! Steve
  2. All finished! Just need to clean up the scripts & she's ready for clear coats. I'm really liking this color! Imagine it on a '67 GTO or Camaro. I might even build a Camaro if I can do it in this color! Steve
  3. Got some color on today & I have to say, I am HUGELY impressed with the new air brush I have!! Preliminary results tell me that I should recommend it highly! It sprays a nice wide, even pattern. Up until now, I had been running into issues with my paint looking streaky because of the narrow pattern of my old air brush. This one is comfortable & smooth. Although, I will say, I was more comfortable cleaning my old siphon feed. I guess it will just take some getting used to. I'll most likely continue to use my old Badger for smaller parts, interiors, etc, but it's going to be the Mr. Hobby for bodies from now on! Anyway, I started with a couple of coats of Duplicolor "Bordeaux Red". I find it beneficial to get a couple of light coats of a like colored Duplicolor paint under the MCW. It gives me a nice base to start with & saves on the "good" MCW paint. So far, just one coat of MCW "Plum Mist". I'll let it cure a while, then foil the scripts & shoot it with another coat of Plum Mist. Steve
  4. You know me by now Snake..........at least well enough to know that this is not going to happen. Steve
  5. Looks great Wayne! Glad to see that you're back in the saddle & building again! Steve
  6. Thanks for the suggestion, but I picked out & bought the color for this build long ago. Steve
  7. Can't do it. The '66 I'm planning down the road will be a dark blue-gray. Can't have two consecutive year Bonnevilles that close in color. Steve
  8. No, I haven't abandoned this project. Just haven't had much time to work on it. But I do believe that I have the body ready for paint. Here it is in it's 3 different colors of primer. Steve
  9. That's really nice! Nicest one I've seen in a while! Steve
  10. No problem from my desktop. Here's one from Fotki & one directly from my hard drive. Steve
  11. Agreed. I believe that my wife knows that some of my kits & builds could be worth some money. She knows how much I've paid for "some of them"! Steve
  12. Need to see closer shots of the Impala. Looks beautiful as far as I can tell! Steve
  13. Even if it's all there, everything was so out of scale & weird on these Palmer kits that it's all put impossible to get a half way presentable model out of one of them. Steve
  14. That's a habit that I have started as well. I do the same for mirrors if the base is large enough to accept a locator pin. Steve
  15. They're pretty much only good for displaying the box. Too bad though. It would have been really nice to have a good '61 Eldorado kit. Steve
  16. Looks pretty good Bill. Never had much interest in the '59, but I wouldn't mind finding a nice '60 & '61. Should have jumped on the Modelhaus 2 doors when they were around, but I guess I'll just have to learn to live without. Steve
  17. I've seen 50 ft rolls of music string on ebay for as little as $10.00! Just don't think that I'll ever use that much! The last stuff I purchase was from K&S. 5, 36" long pieces for a little under $5.00. That should take care of me for the next 30 years! Steve
  18. The only thing that I don't like about the insect pins is the ball on the tip. It's a little large for my taste. I'll be working on adding something to the tip of the music wire. I use a Dremel tool with a grinding wheel for cutting both the tubing & wire. It works well for grinding the ends flat also. Steve
  19. You don't need to make any changes. What you have will work just fine. I'm just thinking the scale might look a little better if they're thinner. I agree, it wasn't very long ago that I built these, but as they say, time marches on. Steve
  20. It's easy. Both Amazon & ebay carry all of it. I might even go thinner on both the tubing & wire down the road. If you need any help finding any of it, PM me. I'll help hook you up. Steve
  21. Just ordered some .015" wire for the top half. I think it will look better. Steve
  22. Just threw together a quick mock-up of an antenna with the 22 gauge tubing, the .02" wire & the Grandt Line bases. Looks pretty good, but I think that I might go a little thinner with the upper half piece of wire. Steve
  23. Yes, #139 is the correct number. Steve
  24. Photos of the bases earlier in the thread. Steve
  25. That's pretty much it. Only, don't put a "rectangle" of foil over the script. Most times you will be able to see that rectangle under the paint. The edges may show through slightly & the color may differ. Your best bet is to cut your foil as close to the script as possible. Other than that, you got it! Steve
