  1. That's why I've gotten into a lot of these old vintage kits in the past couple of years Dennis. I'm really tired of '57 Chevies, '49 Mercs & the like. Something like this is a breath of fresh air to me! Steve
  2. Very cool Al! Those old Lincolns sure were some tanks!! Steve
  3. A lot of guys are using Duplicolor touch up paint in a spray can available at any auto parts store. As for air brush lacquers, most guys are using MCW or House of Color paints. Testors Model Master Lacquers are only available in spray cans. Steve
  4. Got the color coats on & the scripts foiled today! Still needs clear coats & polishing of course, but this will give you a good indication of the color. Already started on the interior as well. Steve
  5. I actually kind of like it with the open wheels. Gives you the "factory race car" feel. If your just gonna lose the caps spinning tires, why put them on? Nice job Jason!! Steve
  6. Cut up soda or beer cans can be used for all sorts of things. I use pieces for small brackets & things like wire looms & battery cable ends. It's just sheet aluminum so the sky's the limit. I used it for the brackets for the heater hose & carburetor return spring as well as radiator hose clamps on this '60 Buick engine. Steve
  7. Sorry, but that Ferrari has got to be the "UGLIEST" thing I've ever seen! Steve
  8. Thanks everybody!! I have to be honest, I'm a little surprised at all of the great feedback I've gotten on this build. I guess it's good enough for me but it's definitely not one of my best efforts. Maybe it's just the fact that a '59 Ford is not the "Holy Grail" of cars for me. Probably one of the last cars I would have picked off of the showroom floor back in '59. Steve
  9. The '60 Dodge phoenix that Modelhaus offers will be an exact replica of the original Johan kit. Don does nice stuff but you might want to keep your eyes peeled on ebay for an original built up. Some times you can find a pretty nice one in styrene for less than $100.00. Of course, then you may be looking at finding some missing parts or re-chroming some, but if you're anything like me, you'd rather work with styrene than resin. Just look around a little. You may get lucky! I spent around $100.00 on this one. Steve
  10. Thanks Dominik!! Steve
  11. Thank you Dominik & Rick!! Steve
  12. I think "Christine" my be a little upset about you giving her away! Steve
  13. Thanks Tom!! Steve
  14. Just came in the mail today! Eight more projects courtesy of Chrome Tech USA!! Steve
  15. Thanks Guys!! I appreciate it! Steve
  16. Thanks a bunch Bruce!! Steve
  17. Very nice Alan! I especially like the color. Must have been a pretty popular color on the Fords back then. I've seen it a lot. I planned on that color for a future '62 Mercury Monterey convertible build. Steve
  18. I'm not picking up the "Evening Orchid" at all Ron. Looks basically silver to me. That's one thing I found out about the "Iris" paint that I used on my '60 New Yorker. Almost impossible to get a good representation of the color in artificial light. Try to get a couple of shots outside & I'll bet it will pop! Nice job Ron!! Steve
  19. Thanks every body! Niko, You're there & I'm here, so I can tell you first hand, it's not "perfect". My builds never are. But then again, I have never really shot for perfect. I strive for "respectable" & this one will rise to that level I believe. Steve
  20. My bet would be that it's possible to do a pretty good job brush painting. Just plan on doing a lot of sanding & polishing!! Steve
  21. Thanks Ben!! Steve
  22. Haven't done it yet, but I've done a little test fitting & I'll be using pretty much all of the guts from the AMT '70 Super Bee kit for re-building a vintage MPC '69 Coronet. Everything seems to fit very nicely with little or no mods. Steve
  23. Ok! Another Minnesotan! Oh ya! You betcha, by golly! Steve
  24. Thank you all!! Next "under glass" post hopefully in another month! Steve
  25. No problem Gary!! To me, any discussion about models is a good discussion! Steve
