Moebius 67-72 Ford Pick-up news
mikemodeler replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Brett posted that a couple of days ago Al. Like you, I am anxious to build this kit and many variants! I am hopeful that the 4wd version will be available soon too. Life is good! -

Not sure where you are headed in from, but there could be some options for other hobby shops. -

mikemodeler replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks great Chuck, I have that same kit waiting to be built one day. Nice weathering and like the engine swap you did. -
It would be possible for them to re-issue the kit, but I would rather see someone like Moebius develop a new set of them and finally have a decent kit to work with. The advance pics of the Ford kit that Moebius is bringing to market have had us all drooling in anticipation, I would be more excited if they could execute in a similar fashion if they chose 67-72 GM trucks!

Yeah Brian, I am thinking either their rent was going up or he wanted to retire as the R/C stuff seemed to be steady. Just a shame because they were a friendly bunch, and the store was convenient. The Mooresville store is one of the biggest I have seen, but their prices are close to full retail, and that was the neat thing about Pineville, their prices were reasonable! It seems that hobby stores will continue to die off, so it is best to enjoy them while we can! -

John, I agree, their paints and other items were very decent, I liked being able to pick up Tamiya paint there! The HTU in Monroe closed back late last year. It had a relatively new owner but he must not have been able to make a go of it. Looks like it is off to Rock Hill to Hobby Stop! -
I was out running errands yesterday and drove past the HTU in Pineville NC and noticed they had gone out of business. I liked to stop in there and pick up supplies and the occasional kit as their prices were not bad. I was last in there about a month ago and noticed that there weren't any new releases, the plastic section had shrunk some more and things looked odd, like they were getting ready to close. Looks like more online buying for me, sad that it has become the way of this hobby as I have always enjoyed walking in to a hobby shop and looking at all the stuff they had and getting the creative juices going.

I fly my flag everyday as a reminder of those who gave their lives for my freedom. And not to nitpick, but Memorial Day is our national day of remembrance of our fallen soldiers. To honor our current military members we have armed forces day in May and for our veterans, we have Veterans Day in November. I am grateful for all who are serving, have served or paid the ultimate price.

03-07 Chevy Silverado? Maybe...
mikemodeler replied to BTK's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Nothing in plastic or resin, could be something out there in die cast, not sure. Nice daily driver! -
I like how this is coming along Mark, I remember a neighbor having one of these brand new back in 1973, traded it off after 18 months for a '74 Z-28.

My 1:1's....
mikemodeler replied to 426-Hemi's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
Love that old Power Wagon, sure wish we had that in plastic (hint hint Mobeius!). That would be a beast with a modern Hemi and some other creature comforts. The Chevy street rod would be a nice family cruiser, I say enjoy it as is and worry about updating or changing anything over the winter! -
Depending on how long you will be here in the States and how much travelling you want to do, you could have a lot of options. There are all kinds of events going on, race and car related. There are 1:1 car shows and swap meets, drag and stock car racing, new car shows, etc. Some research can yield a great trip!

Jake, They are back up and running, but have a backlog of orders to get caught up on. Patience, the wait will be worth it as their quality is the best. And in case you weren't aware, the reason they were shut down was due to the unexpected death of their youngest son, a tragedy no parent should have to go through. -
Dang, he HAD to have been at the show today in Simpsonville, because Tom was there. Wish I had known, I would have made more of an effort to find him and say hello!

13th Annual Upstate Model Contest- May 16th Simpsonville SC
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in Contests and Shows
Brian did find me, and some great deals too! Sold off a lot of excess kits, saw some familiar faces and lots of nice models. I was told the turnout was light, some modelers who usually make the trip decided to go to the show in Cookeville TN. The venue for this show is a great one, lots of room to walk around and always a great bunch of guys from the SCMA hosting the event. -

That is a nice "what if?" Somewhat surprised that no one has come up with resin pieces for the Meng kit. -
Pat Benatar recorded "I Need a Lover" and made it a hit for John Mellencamp, who had recorded it earlier but did not get much airtime until after it was a hit for Pat! I believe the hit "Take it Easy" by the Eagles was actually a Jackson Browne tune. "Because the Night" by Patti Smith was a Springsteen tune that she made popular.

Revell Yenko Camaro - update 5/31 - BMF done
mikemodeler replied to oldscool's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice! Hope to see this one done soon! -
As far as I know, the only dually kits were the Revell/Monogram '91 F350 glue kit, the AMT Snap Fast '95 Dodge Ram 3500 and the AMT Snap Fast '96 Chevy 3500. MPC had a dually kit based off of a regular kit but IIRC it was not a factory dully replica.
