  1. That paint is beautiful and the engine is looking great. What paint is that ?
  2. I would swear that was a real Jeep and not a model! Your detailing is outstanding and so realistic. The little things you have added to this kit is making a huge difference, any chance I can send you mine and have you do it for me?
  3. Looks great, nicely detailed and clean paint. I have a couple of those kits to finish someday...
  4. Not as attractive but a simple solution would be to pick up individual plastic cases from Michael's or Hobby Lobby. The display cases for 1/24 scale models usually run about $7.99 and with the 40% off coupon they become real reasonable. Keeps the dust off the models and takes 2 minutes to put the model in the case. Nice idea to add your models into the bookcase, should look real nice when you have it done!
  5. Looking very nice! Should be a beauty when you are done.
  6. WOW! Congrats on the dream coming true. Nice build, details are excellent.
  7. It's nice, but not that nice! I'll check the couch cushions for loose change and send it your way!
  8. Great topic Rich and I agree with your opening statement. What I find most interesting here and on other forums is how people from other continents can build replicas of vehicles not common to their location and do it well. I think having the internet and these forums to help in their building has made them more successful and adds to the diversity we see. As far as this being a hobby that chicks will dig? My wife knows that I could have a bunch of other hobbies that cost more money and would take me away from home more. She is frustrated by the size of my stash and the space it takes up but she is always interested in what I am building and likes that I am down the hall instead of in a bar!
  9. The kit does not have any lights for the snow plow setup, those are the ones I was referring to. Growing up there was an Amoco (Standard, actually) gas station that had a Jeep like this, except they had a 4 cylinder, with the half cab and snow plow setup. The mounting for the plow lift was similar to this kit as there was a hydraulic pump driven by the engine that supplied the power to move the plow up and down and angled left and right. Because of the push bumper, the Jeep didn't have any plow lights, just used the regular head lights from the Jeep as the plow didn't raise very high. There was a Union 76 station across the street with a similar Jeep, same plow and half cab. I am going to explore resin casting this half cab, if for no other reason than I have a couple of Daisy kits that I would like to use them on. There was a resin caster offering this half cab years ago but I haven't seen them around in 10 years.
  10. I think Harry P. should apply for the technical manager position. Revell is not that far from where he lives now and his keen eye will help get accurate kits to market.
  11. Kinda sorta. This particular kit was the first version of the CJ-5 (IIRC) and came with several options not seen in this kit since it's original issue including a half cab, push bumper, snow plow and V-6 engine. The Daisy Duke kit is not entirely correct as the the Jeep in the show was a CJ-7, not the CJ-5. Nice start on the kit, I have had this one in my stash for close to 15 years, have hesitated to build it because I have wanted to resin cast some of the parts to build multiples. I like the updated undercarriage for the snow plow, you have nailed the look correctly! I am going to speculate that you will be fixing the clumsy looking pump assembly as well, what about the lights? I'll be watching, just might get me to start on mine!
  12. Lived in the Chicago area for 40+ years and suffered from this problem, especially when I worked in dealerships and my hands were exposed to the cold dry air, grease and water. Best thing I found was to soak my hands in warm water and then apply some udder cream. Didn't have latex gloves to put on back in the early 80's but wish I had, would have saved me a ton of pain and suffering. If you are working outside or exposed to cold air/weather, wear latex gloves if you can to keep the exposure to a minimum. Most auto parts stores have them readily available and I know NAPA has them on sale this month.
  13. Very nice job on the details and weathering! I think I have seen that truck down here in Charlotte!
  14. Nice story, glad to see that it wasn't overdone on the restoration so they could enjoy it.
  15. I remember the program Curt, can't remember if I sent away for any kits though.Would be nice to have some type of "rewards" program but keep in mind that they cost money so you have to ask if you are willing to pay for it. Granted there are some that wouldn't participate but much like the replacement parts program Revell has, there would some looking to game the system for a free kit or two.
  16. I have this kit in the started pile along with a couple of extras for a resin conversion of a 300 coupe. This is my favorite Chevelle body style and hope to get a couple of these done this year. Nice kit, remember some favorable reviews and should go together pretty easy.
  17. Wouldn't be surprised to see Chevrolet step in and do something for him, either restoring the truck or giving him a new Silverado. Nice story.
  18. He showed a lot of us how to deal with cancer with dignity and determination. Always thought of him as a class act who was a real professional in his work. The tributes on ESPN today were hard to watch as many of his colleagues struggled to maintain composure as they described what a great guy he was and how much he loved his daughters. May he rest in peace.
  19. If these stores were near me I would be more likely to shop for kits there, but the stores around me don't come close to looking this up to date or complete. A real shame as the so called hobby shops in my area are disappearing or focusing more on R/C and abandoning model kits.
  20. Nice and clean.........must not be snowing yet! Great job on detailing this truck.
  21. Wow. Always stopped in there when I was in town. Never spent less than 45 minutes or $10 there as the selection of stuff to look at was incredible.
  22. I was on the fence over this model. I like the styling of it but wasn't "in love" with the car like some others. Seeing these test shots have got me thinking about a couple of different versions and this is on my "to buy " list along with the coming Ford Pickups. Thanks Dave and Art for sharing the pictures and giving some explanations on the kit, much appreciated.
  23. trying to reduce the stash and not increase it, but with that said, I'll probably get a few of the Mobeius Ford Pickups and some other kits that catch my eye.
  24. Those are nice and looks like some were a real challenge!
  25. That came out great Dan! I will be working on some similar WIPs this weekend and hope they come out as nice as yours!
