  1. Another 153 shots added, starting somewhere on page 8: https://public.fotki.com/GSL-Model-Car-Championship/gsl-xxviii-the-finale/entries/page8.html
  2. Another 188 pics added, starting somewhere on page six: https://public.fotki.com/GSL-Model-Car-Championship/gsl-xxviii-the-finale/entries/page6.html
  3. Just added another 158 pics, starting at the beginning of page five: https://public.fotki.com/GSL-Model-Car-Championship/gsl-xxviii-the-finale/entries/page5.html
  4. Same link - I'm adding additional photos to the album as I get them edited.
  5. Another 115 added. https://public.fotki.com/GSL-Model-Car-Championship/gsl-xxviii-the-finale/entries/
  6. The first 242 photos are up - only 1981 to go! Photos are here: https://public.fotki.com/GSL-Model-Car-Championship/gsl-xxviii-the-finale/entries/ Unfortunately, I have no easy way to correlate the builders' names with the photos, so if you see a model you built (or know who did) leave a comment under the photo. I'll post in this thread as I add more photos.
  7. Sorry, not quite yet! I am working my way through over 2200 photos - these are the photos that Andy Barlow took on a turntable in a light box as the models were entered, so they are for the most part the clearest and best lit photos you'll see of these models, except for the ones Gregg took of selected subjects. I'm doing some basic Photoshop corrections including cropping. As you might imagine, with so many photos, this is a time-consuming process, but the results should be worth it. I'll begin posting them to the GSL Fotki site as they're finished. Please be patient - I want to show these beautiful models off to their best advantage.
  8. Yes, just cut out the molded in rear seat and replaced it with sheet styrene. The spare tire and other bits in the back do a decent enough job of covering the areas where the door panels should be.
  9. I'll be there. Nothing all that new to show, but I'll be bringing a few things that have been seen here.
  10. How about doing the Mario Andretti car from Bridgehampton? Mario's first road race, by the way. https://www.racingsportscars.com/driver/photo/Mario-Andretti-USA.html I have the UMI decals I can send you.
  11. Looking really good, Mike! If you're looking for a drop axle for the front, the Tony Nancy double kit has one that's just about right.
  12. Another winner added to your excellent collection!
  13. Another detail that's easy and cheap to improve is the rear wing actuator. Here's a shot of a different Chaparral, but the principle is the same.
  14. Here are a couple of closer shots of what I did with the cooler. A lot of guesswork here, as there are only a few historic photos that show it. Keep in mind that the cooler was apparently a last minute addition and that the 2D only existed in this configuration for one race. I figured my guess was as good as any and that most likely no one is going to dispute it, right?
  15. The reference photo above is the best one I could find of the cooler, so I just made my best guess. I used a parts box cooler (old NASCAR style) and folded up a little cover. I'll try to get you a better pic later when I get a moment.
  16. Dave beat me to it, but I was going to say if you want to build a more accurate replica, be sure to add the oil cooler on the right side. It's simple vintage kit that really comes alive with a little extra detailing. My build:
  17. Here's a comparison between the five bolt and six bolt bellhousing patterns from the Bob Mannel book:
  18. That engine top on the DDR looks like it's copied from the unused interior tub part that comes with the LS Chaparral 2C. Why it's in there, I don't know - earlier origin?.
  19. Thanks, I just ordered some. Excellent tip, by the way!
  20. Do you mean 813? That's all I'm seeing on Amazon, etc.
  21. I wonder if we'll ever see this one? Also never been reissued.
  22. Thanks, I don't give up easily, I guess. The above attached review is pretty spot on. I don't mean to tar all Heller kits with the same brush. I built the Lotus 49B a few years back and apart from replacing the tires and decals, I found it to be a first rate kit, especially for its age. Thread here, scroll down for the photos:
  23. I actually built one. One of my most unsatisfying builds ever; I still wonder why I wasted my time.
  24. Here is my survivor - a Cox Chaparral slot car that I bought off eBay some years ago. The plan is to restore it as a static model. Yes, it will be a challenge!
