I hate trailers....
chunkypeanutbutter replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've only got a few of them, but the ones I have are GIANT trailers. A car hauler, a refrigerator trailer and a tandem set. NO ROOM! My work area is around 12x20 with two tables, so there ain't much room for stuff. -
1950 Austin "Back2Stock"

Don't even start with the stories of rusty British cars.... I've got a poor Triumph GT6+ that needs a full resto I love that old rust-bucket... -
I suppose it's because my workspace is so small. I also don't have a bunch of stuff like scale rulers or cutting mats. I enjoy building semis, but trailers are just a PITA.

I'm thinking very lazy on this. I have a multitude of Dirt Modified frames, and I figger I could modify one of those to be somewhat like this, and dig around in the junk box(es) for suspension and drivetrain parts. -

I was looking at my Datsun with suspicion today, thinking it might work. I'm saving that for a dually conversion or something. I'll check out that website. It's about time I actually built my own frames.... -
Chevy Vega update 10 Dec
chunkypeanutbutter replied to 1 bad55 stan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
My dad had a Vega with a Firebird V8 in it. He said no matter what gear you were in it could smoke the tires! -

We've got a few guitars. A Squier Strat that ain't special, a new Tele body, a Jay Turser Custom SG, BC Rich Revenge, Epiphone Les Paul Studio Custom, and a bunch of acoustics, including a gorgeous Epiphone 12-string with the head broken off at the neck Gibson won't replace it, either. -

I looked online and it has a "Line 4" engine. Inline 4, I assume. I do have a Mini engine, however. I'd still have to find a transmission for it. I have a Cosworth engine from the Lotus Super 7, which is where I'm sourcing the wheels from. -
Yeah, I get the same way with projects. But still, you inspired me to start on MY '50 Austin!

Revell Drag Austin... I've got a soft spot for slow English cars. So now I'm going to "restockify" this Austin. Gluing the doors shut because I hate hinges... New seats, new wheels, smaller diameter rear wheel well, taillights, grille... Cosworth 4 cylinder engine? Hmmm.... Here's what I'm starting with.

Lookin' good! Did yours come with the 427 Ford?

Mack question
chunkypeanutbutter replied to Arnd's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, that truck is from Pelletier's Logging in Millinocket, Maine. They're still around, I think. They were last time we went up Norf going campin'. We live right across from a trucking business and they used to have a couple of Macks like that, I think before they got repoed or they had to sell them. -
Has anybody ever converted a drag car back to stock? I'm thinking about doing it with my 1950 Austin Devon drag car. Looks sorta stupid to me, but mostly because I have a soft spot for slow British cars

I know. Crappy camera. I have a lot of stuff to spend cash on. Stereo gear, model cars, cameras, guitars, old computers.... GAH!! -
How could you hate a Falcon? Great chrome.
