  1. Safak, do you mind describing the method of construction of your headlight lenses? Thank you. Pat
  2. I guess you could say I "plumbed" the crane.
  3. The bed in satin black. The 2 x 8 's in pecan stain The truck part is complete. Your extended wheelbase, V-10 powered Dodge L-700. As in most of my final assemblies, I manage to mess things up. No thanks to this particular kit with ill fitting doors, non existent holes to locate the mirror bracket supports (yet shown in the instructions) and several other shortcomings. All in all, a rather unpleasant undertaking. Added decals to the crane. I think I'll add some hoses as well.
  4. Oh to be so neat! Beautiful craftsmanship.
  5. Found some at Plaskit (Dan Gailloux). After adding spacers & shims to make everything fit the truck frame and slide into the crane frame without interference, glued the subframe to the deck. It sits just a tad ass-high to allow for spring compression under load. This will be the general configuration. Ready to prime.
  6. That, and then some. A pleasure to look at.
  7. The t-bars for the stake rails on my L700 project and three pieces of equipment for the shop part of my diorama, drill press, millimg machine & lathe.
  8. I'm looking for suggestions for the lighting for this deck. Either aftermarket/resin lights or material to make some with red and amber.
  9. Made up a subframe for the deck. Added an underride plate/bumper to the rear. Mocked up the assembly.
  10. Thanks guys. I'm back after a 6 day trip. Attended the Granby International car show. Lots of eye candy, about 2000 vehicles. Met some long lost cousins. Had a great time. Now to get back to that deck.
  11. Worked on the deck. Fired up the bandsaw and made some decking timbers It'll look something like this
  12. No real update. Haven't worked on the model all weekend, it was the annual Lumberjack Festival. Yesterday started to paint some details on the crane. Noticed the windshield wasn't quite straight and proceeded to break it while removing it. Have to make another one out of acetate. Also succeeded in smudging one of the side windows. So I quit while I was still ahead.
  13. This is the only place I could find to mount the ECU. Set up in my outside office with measurements and photos provided by GrunpoyGrowly and 1930fordpickup and set out to make a set of plans to scratchbuild the deck.
  14. I am planning to scratch built a stake body truck and am looking for 2mm T-bars for the railings. I have a piece left over from before which may be ABS (dark grey). I have looked at both Evergreen and Platruct's sites to no avail. Any suggestions?
  15. Looks to me like you method worked! :-) Be Well Gator I held that stack in position what what seemed like a long, long time before it stayed upright without leaning. It was next to impossible to prop it up because of where it is. It is in situations like this that my patience gets really tested.
  16. Added the stack,THEN made up the bracket. Doing things backward. No choice since I found it a lot easier to take the measurements with the stack in place.
  17. Completed the exhaust pipe. Added the floor pan, driveshaft & mudgards. Had to cut the stack & pin it to be able to rotate it to the proper orientation.
  18. Extended the driveshaft to fit the new wheelbase. Intially I was going to have a hanger bearing and two shafts but I elected to go with the sliding spline style. Lazy eh? Cut & rolled the L-700's exhaust pipes to make it go where I want it to go. Shaping the "upturn". Gator, I found that neat stack with an engine I got on eBay and felt the need to use it here. The bracket will be on the frame of the truck against the front of the crane's frame.
  19. Fired up the compressor and Alcladed a few parts. Looking for a good spot for a stack. Has to clear the cab and the crane and be where I can attach it to something.
  20. Wow! That's an odd way to transport such an expensive car... how did they get it up there? Series of ramps? Or once the owner was out of sight, did they just jam a fork lift under it? Probably ramps. I wouldn't want to be the brave soul who drove it up there though. Just off the road in a restaurant front lawn.A perfectly maintained 20's Oakland. the owner told me he's had it since 1969. A Boss 302 and a neat Monte. These were supposed tp be two separate posts & it merged them, told me so too. Not sure why it did that.
  21. This is what the new format looks like on my Explorer. Maybe my version is too old. Anyway, it works fine on Google Chrome.
