In a hotel parking lot, a serious lowboy. I wonder what the capacity of that is. 200t? This truck is pretty well the only one which can negotiaite the local streets without damage. A nice old Jeep. And finally, my own rig. 2005 Raleigh, 28 in. wheels, 21 speeds, one geezer power. And the rating varies with what the geezer had for breakfast.

Installed a hitch on the shop truck. Added a pair of heads to the top shelf and added a big block to the pallet. A Porsche 928 engine came into the shop. This was part of the large pile of junk engines I got on eBay. The whole upper rear was missing. The rear head caps were made out of a dragster engine plate, the upper half of the bell housing came from a junk engine. The rear cap was whittled out of a blower front and the splined shaft is from a watch part.

Scratch/bashing a 702

Thanks Carl. that is exactly what I'm doing. I used the same approach when I rebuilt my '34 Chevy. Many sub assemblies to become a whole. I think it is the only way to combat ADD and not get overwhelmed. As far as masterpiece, well.... I think Donovan's will be more like it. -
That'll teach Brad. I've been looking at them for a while myself, but the price always makes me stay away from the bid button.

Scratch/bashing a 702

Added the small line & vacuum dashpot. Added mounting posts to the coils & shortened the bodies so they look less like fire extinguishers. Threw a bit of paint on the engine. -

Thanks guys. Using a method found on the forum here, I attempted to make flanges for the exhaust manifolds. The first ones were way too big so I did them again with smaller stock. I used my original "too big" fuel pump to make the oil filter bracket. Modified the bell housing to receive the starter' Started to modify the carbs to look more like those in the picture. Extended the air horns and added an oblong part to the side. -
What did you see on the road today?

At our little gathering, a nice '62 Galaxie, a one owner '71 Meteor and a strange truck/van, who knows what it is. -

The second picture should have been this one. -

Thanks Terry. Here they are with the harnesses trimmed and positioned. The white part on the distributors is way too long. I'm going to have to shorten that. Shaped some rod on the drill press to make coils. Started attaching the straps. -
I bet ya a 1:1 like that would really boogie. Love it. Gave some "status" to the Mustang II.

I got this one, not a kit but it'll become a tactor to haul the Revell car transporter. -
Planning a Dodge L-700
landman replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I realize that but that doesn't preclude me from making one. What I meant is would it look more "balanced" as a tandem? -
I want to make a delivery truck out of this. I'll be using a flat bed/stake body of the same dimensions as the Ford C-600. I also plan to add the KFS Hiab 205 behind the cab. Is that crane too big for that truck? And, should I make it tandem or will single drive be sufficient?

Jacobus, is the R Series still on the market? -

The 702 runs two distributors on a common drive. The setup looks like this. I made the drive out of a stepped screw from an old typewriter, put a plastic sleeve on it as the body and the distributors will mount to that. -

Donovan, it will be in a GMC B-7000 which has a butterfly hood similar to the Ford N600.On the Ford, I made the hood panels removeable. I'm considering making the whole hood tilt, which would be incorrect of course but you could see the engine better. We'll see. -

Started work on the distributors. Marked & drilled some round rod. Added wires and itty bitty little sleeves to make it look like it has boots. Gave the engine a shot of primer to get away from the multiple textures and colors. -

I combined the V16 oil pan with one found in the junkpile to get something relatively close to to the 702's. Found a bell housing of the right size in the junkpile and attached that to the rear of the block. -

The new exhaust manifolds in primer: Stole the air compressor from a Peterbilt and added a large spoked pulley Found some carbs which might work, size-wise anyway. Now I have to find or make two 6 cylinder distributors. -
A Monogram 1/8 1985 Corvette at a church basement sale. Not sure what I will do with it.

I'm one of those guys with ideas and so-so skills. I learned a lot on this forum and by trying, trying again when it doesn't work and adjusting my goals to fit my skills when I get stumped. As long as you are having fun, that is all that matters. And let the ideas keep coming, they'll provide the challenges.
