1950 Chevrolet 3100
landman replied to landman's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Initially I was going to do a heavily weathered, slightly rusty version. Now I'm leaning to a freshly restored state. -
A very plausible "What if?" I love it.

Thank you for the kind offer, Eric. I dohave a gold one from the Metal Master kit. Let me try to Alclad it first.

It's the hole that bug me. I wonder which material would make the scribing of the louvers easier, putty or plastic plugs?

Thank you Charlie. Glad you like it. I am facing a big dilemma here, No grille guard and the louvers painted black, or no grille guard and the louvers chrome or with the grille guard. I'm leaning hard towards the black louvers.

Anyone Getting Ready For Winter?
landman replied to OldTrucker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This was here last winter. Our driveway and the sidewalk snow wind up on the front lawn. We have some removed a couple of times each winter. However, like Dan Clark, I have a heated garage . I also have a spray booth made with an old microvave hooked to a mini shop vac to suck up all the overspray. So for the time being I can build year round. Now we are thinking of moving too with the possibility of renting. That may curtail the modelling and the woodworking. -
Thank you gentlemen. After installing the glass and interior the body would not set down properly on the chassis. It turns out a protuberance at the bottom was interfering. More surgery.

Question, rear hump behind driver?
landman replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It is a fairing. It could enclose a hoop behind the drivers head and/or a headrest. It serves an aerodynamic purpose. -
The foiling is done. The semigloss clear hasn't dulled it as much as I thought it would. Hope you like it, warts and all.

Thanks Brad. Ièll try finding one.

Does anyone make an Airstream trailer in either 1/25 or1/24?

Good for her. Do what you like, it won't be work. My own daughter did become a stylist who specialized in coloring. To which point the distributor offered her a "regional Color Tech" position. She does new line presentations and troubleshooting all across the region. From there she gets called to be a stage artist at conventions and shows. She loves what she does. Looks like your daughter does as well. And with a few specializations there is no telling where it will go.?
