  1. Just curious, why won't the Monogram one ever return? Molds destroyed? Thanks. Jeff
  2. Nice trucks, I'll keep an eye on this thread. I have a few to build someday. I really like that cab over one. Jeff
  3. Beautiful truck. Great color choice for it. Really smooth. I hope someday to be able to paint like that. Jeff
  4. Thank you for the info. I was born in 71 and my dad traded the Blazer in on the Scout in 78, so I don't remember alot about it. What I do remember is that it was a rust bucket when he got rid of it. Can't believe it was only 6 years old and rusty, but it was the 70's and he did plow alot with it, which I'm sure didn't help. I wish I could ask my dad, but he suffers with Alzheimers and can't remember any of it. I guess building models of his vehicles helps keep the memories alive. I'll half to dig out the Tamiya kit and do his 96 Chevy Astro van next. Jeff
  5. Thanks for the nice comments. It's fun to try to replicate your family's cars, frustrating at the same time, trying to get EVERY detail just right, lol. Jeff
  6. Sorry for the delay, lost my internet (darn rain). Some more pics, including the 1:1 Blazer. Thats my brother standing in front. I glued the "gumball machine" and CB antenna on the roof with clear silicone so I could remove them when I wanted to backdate it. I even found the original license plate for it and scanned and reduced it to put on the model. Thanks for looking. Jeff
  7. Ok I'm calling this one done. I have a few things under the hood to finish, but I'm burned out on this one and I want to finish some other projects. This is my dad's old Chevy Blazer. I can't remember if it's a 71 or 72 and Google searches of photos have left me crosseyed. To many different side marker light differences and mislabeled photos to tell. I used the Model King version of the AMT Chevy Blazer, some old projector slides, and my fuzzy memory(I was only 7 years old when he traded it in for our IH Scout) to recreate our families Blazer. I built it pretty much stock except for the scratchbuilt snowplow hoist, the driving lights, and other subtle differences to make it look more like my dad's Blazer. The 1:1 Blazer photos look distorted because they are slides that I projected up on a wall and took pictures of with my phone. I couldn't take them right in line to get them even, or I would cast a shadow on the projection. OK, some pics
  8. Thanks for the help. This one might be on the back burner for awhile. Too many other projects on the bench and I told myself that I can't start anything until I finish some up first. I'll enjoy yours for now. Jeff
  9. Just picked up.one of these.from Hobby Lobby tonight (thanks 40% off coupon) just because of this thread. Looks great so far, I'll be following this thread for sure. I'm happy to see your work to seperate the bed back from the cab, I'll give that a try. I think I'll build mine as the off road racer. I'll try to use some small off road tires from my parts box to make it look more off roadable (is that a word?), maybe the small ones from the Mountain Goat kit I have left over. Keep up the good work. Jeff
  10. Nice one. What can't a Scout do? Lol. Jeff
  11. Beautiful. I've always been a huge fan of Bigfoot ever since I was a kid and Bigfoot was new. You did it justice. Jeff
  12. This. I've been a model railroader since I was a small kid. My dad taught my brother and I the finer things about railroads, including modeling. I used to belong to the fine Miniature Railroad Club of York, PA and am a self professed "rivit counter" in HO scale. I like things in scale and proportion. In model trains, model cars, model airplanes (I used to build as a kid also), anything I build. The model rr club has a yearly open house around Christmas time and invites the public in. It's used as the clubs biggest fundraiser. The general public doesn't care if that steam mallet is hooked up with that modern SD-75 diesel, pulling a passenger train. They want to see lots of trains running. So we would drop much (not all) of our prototypical operating and just run whatever the crowd wanted. They went home happy, we made money to continue operating for another year, and a fun copule of days were had by all. Isn't that what a hobby is suppost to be about? Jeff
  13. Wow, that is nice. Great craftsmanship. Jeff
  14. Very nice Mack. I have one of those to build and this gives me inspiration. Jeff
  15. Thanks for the tips. I have the DM600 kit to build and I would like to add an R kit to the list to buy also. These will be my first big rigs that I have tried to build, so I'll take the extra time and try all the tips and tricks given. Thank you. Jeff BTW, yours looks very nice. I like the color choices. Jeff
  16. Very nicely done. I really like the interior. I hope that mechanic can get her running, lol. I love vintage SUV's. Jeff
  17. Thanks Tom. Nice pics. My real Scout sadly looks like those, but in even worse shape. I can't take credit for the rusty orange Scout model. I bought that from a member of our local model club a few years ago. I swear he said he bought it from the late Blair Pletcher, but sadly, we cannot confirm this anymore. I think it captures the look of too many Scouts today. Jeff
  18. Nice Scouts. I want to do one of the Spirit editions myself someday too. I'll have to order the decal set I saw for these in another thread. I like how yours is done. Nice SS versions also. Are they the new rerelease ones? They look very good. I promised myself I would get some other projects done and off the workbench before I started mine. I want to build a stock version someday too. Keep up the good work. Jeff
  19. And yet I would still manage to get glue on the windshield and lose a part to the carpet monster. Uuugggghh! Jeff
  20. Nice rail. Is that a slipjoint or is it solid mount? What motor? What's it run in the 1/4? Sorry for all the questions . Just a fellow trigger puller. Jeff
  21. WOW! That is neat! As a model railroader as well as a car modeler and drag slotcar racer, I can say that is an awesome setup you built. I'd be proud to have that in my basement (as if I had the room, lol). Keep up the good work and see ya at the finish line. Jeff "Goose"
  22. Thats sharp. Lot of imagination in that truck. I like the changes over the years. No project is ever really finished, lol. Jeff
  23. Now thats cool! I always loved the Mad Max/end of civilization look. I need to build something sometime. Great job on the weathering. Looks very convincing. I like your 4wd conversion. I was thinking of doing 4wd to my Suburban kit but wasn't sure what kit to use. Yours came out very nice. As always, another great model. Jeff
  24. That bench seat looks great. I was thinking of a bench seat for the 6 cylinder version I'm planning to build and saw the photo Tom had posted. Thanks for the tips and ideas guys. I have a couple of spare seats form the Blazer kits I can use. Now, I just wish some talented modeler would master an earlier grill with the vertical openings and have them cast in resin for sale. I need to make one for my version of a 73 model with the AMC 6 cylinder I'm building. Jeff
  25. Great job on that "awful awful ". I love Pure Hell and all the other AA/FAs. Built alot of em as slotcars. Jeff
