  1. Very nice. I'm working on one of these right now and you gave me some inspiration on the engine bay. Nice color choice. I like what you did with the mirrors. Nice paint work on the grill. Good job. Jeff
  2. Sorry, not the SS version, the offroad version molded in red, like this. Jeff
  3. This!!! They need to rerelease the offroad version of the Scout. It has all of the extra goodies, like the spoke wagon wheels and other offroad stuff. I'd buy a half dozen kits at least, lol. I wish they would add some street tires to the kit too. I'd like to build some stock versions. Please Round 2, do this soon. Jeff
  4. This! Incredible work on a neat subject. Thanks for sharing. Jeff
  5. I picked this up at CVS a couple of weeks ago. I'm a sucker for wagons and the woodgrain on this one spoke to me, lol. It's a Chrysler LeBaron Town and Country made by Motor Max. I thought I'd just add it to the shelf. Then later that night, I was cutting car ads out of some old National Geographic magazines I was cleaning out of my parents house and I came across this ad. I thought it was a sign, lol. What are the odds of that happening? Pretty cool to have an ad for the real macoy for such an obscure diecast subject. The ad was from a 1979 issue and the bottom of the diecast says it's a 1979 model. Cool. I guess I should have played the lottery that night too. Oh well. Nice, fairly accurate diecast for $13.99. Now, I'm hooked on these inexpensive diecasts too, lol. Jeff
  6. Beautiful truck. It looks very realistic. Nice color choice. Jeff
  7. That truck looks terrific! Just the right amount of rust. Your stories are getting as outstanding as your models. I hope you write for a living, lol. Jeff
  8. Yea, I want to get one when I find one that isn't too pricey, or hasn't been opened up and started. This!!! I hope some executive from a model company sees this and realizes the market potential for an xj. It would be huge. The customization possibilities are endless. Jeff
  9. Great looking Jeep. I just wish they did these in 1/25 scale. The mud looks great on that. Jeff
  10. Cool conversion. I built one of those quick builds with my 4 year old daughter and I thought the same. Nice kit that has lots of potential. Of course I'll have to buy another one because "that's hers" and I can't touch it. Lol Jeff
  11. I saw this at the Walmart in Lancaster PA. Two end shelves with models on. Like Snake said, prices a little high, but not the highest either. Hopefully this exposure will attract new modelers. Jeff Edit, Can't seem to get photos to upload, will try later.
  12. That looks great dino. I was wondering how you were progressing on yours. I hadn't seen any new pics in your build thread. Keep up the great work. Jeff
  13. +1 on this. I too hope you have some available sometime. Beautiful work. Thanks. Jeff
  14. Dimaxion, those are some nice looking Scouts and deserve to be shown on here. I really like the orange one with the old off road Scout decals. Very cool look. Tom, thats a good start on your Scout. The scallops give it a different look. Were they on the real one you almost bought? To bad you didn't get it back in the day. I know it might be a pile of rust today, or maybe not. But they sure are/were fun to drive. Great 4 wheelers and snow plowers. I sure miss being able to drive mine...sigh ?. Jeff
  15. Hi Tom. That was Cargostar in another thread who was going to master some underhood details for Scouts. I had to look up the thread in "on the workbench" to remember it. I was also waiting for him to offer some underhood items. Mine aren't very nice, mostly parts box pieces modified and scratchbuilt stuff that's not exactly to scale. I wouldn't be comfortable having them cast and offered to others.Hopefully, somebody who's a better modeler than I will have them for sale someday. I know I'd probably buy a half dozen sets if they were reasonable in price. Thanks for the compliments. Hope to see pics of your Scouts when you're done. Jeff
  16. Very nice Bronco. Those extra parts look great on there. Nice color choice. Jeff
  17. When I first got into slot car drag racing, I would email my new friend Tom Bagly, who owns Wheatfield Raceway, and would always sign off as Jeff "the Mongoose" Herrman, as I was a fan of the late Tom McEwen. Well, he jokingly shortened it to "Goose" and here I am today. I always figured I resemble a pudgy waterfowl more than a svelte weasel anyway, so I kept the nickname. I've used it in one form or another for most of my hot rod and internet life. I still think some people in the CPMCC club and slot car world only know me by my nickname and not my real name, so there it is, lol. As for the 1957 part, I own a real 57 Chevy and use it's pic for my avatar. Good topic, always like to hear the backstory. Jeff "Goose" Herrman
  18. Nice looking Jeep. Really like the wheels and tires. I have to get some of those someday. Jeff
  19. They look great. I always wanted to try something with the Orange Blossom Special kit. Yours came out great. The Ford looks great also. Thanks for sharing. Jeff
  20. Very nice build. Like the engine swap. Jeff
  21. Looks really good. Your dad must have had a fun Bronco. Like the combo of wheels and tires. It's fun recreating trucks from our past. Nice work. Jeff
  22. That's too cool! I love old school monster trucks, grew up with 'em. Was the biggest fan of Bigfoot and USA 1 in the early days. Your Dodge looks beautiful. You really captured the look with a unique body style. Really like the operating features you built in. Looks like the tires and suspension are from an MPC kit. Keep up the good work. Jeff
  23. That's pretty cool. Is it hard to make a stock one? Is that the Little Red Wagon kit? Thanks. I like the pair of them. Good job. Jeff
  24. Here's my latest International Scout offering. One of the new reissue Scout SS versions. I built it mostly box stock, with a few parts swapped out and a few scratch built parts added. I wanted to model a stock SS version as it may have come from the dealer with a few options. Looking at original sales brochures online, I saw the 1979 one showing a spare tire carrier option for the rear, so I scratch built one out of brass wire and brass shims I had in my parts box. I used the tire and wheel from an original Ertl kit I built earlier, but used different wheels/tires for (my orange one shown earlier). I scratch built a license plate frame and relocated it as shown. I scratch built a side mirror, as the ones supplied with the kit looked more like stock Scout mirrors, not the ones I saw on SS versions. I raided my parts boxes/scratch built parts for under the hood to add some detail and realism to a sparse kit engine bay. I used the front seats from a stock Scout kit, as the buckets that come with the kit seem like they're for the racing version, not a stock SS. Most of the sales brochures showed a rear seat, so it came from the stock kit also. This is my first try at using Future (Pledge) floor polish and I have to say, it worked pretty well. I just brushed it on and it gave a satisfactory clear coat to seal on the decals without a lot of hassle. Overall, this is a pretty simple kit that can be improved upon with the addition of some added parts and careful research. My love of Scouts will always keep me coming back for more. As always, thanks for looking and comments are welcome. Jeff
