  1. Great looking truck. Customs aren't my style, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship that you put into building it. Beautiful paint job. Keep up the great work. Jeff
  2. Yes, please offer these Internationals. They look great. I'll buy a few. Jeff
  3. Any updates for this project? Can't wait to see the progress. Jeff
  4. That turned out very nice. I was following your build and saw how much kitbashing and scratchbuilding you had to do to make it more stock appearing. Very good job on your Dodge build. I might have to try that one someday. Jeff
  5. Beautiful truck and outstanding workmanship. I like the window cranks and door handles. Might have to try that on a future build. Keep up the good work. Jeff
  6. They may have come with bias ply tires when new, but I'll take my radials anyday on my Bel Air. I have a set of bias tires on steel wheels I'll throw on every once in a while when I want to backdate the look. I'll tell you, there's nothing more thrilling than changing lanes on the highway at 60 without turning the steering wheel. Real white knuckle driving. Of course PA's well rutted roads don't help matters. Jeff
  7. Wow! This is coming along amazingly. I'll bet you have just as many hours or more in scratchbuilding as the real 1:1 truck.(well, maybe not, I dunno, it's still amazing. ) . Can't wait to see it finished. Jeff
  8. That came out very nice. I have one of those to build too, just a little intimidated by the number of parts and the time involved. I really like how yours turned out. Jeff
  9. Ok, has anyone else dressed their car up for halloween? I admit it, I'm guilty of it. I dunno, sometimes it's just too much fun. (Yea, my wife calls me crazy) Sometimes for the local halloween parade, other times for October car shows. This year, did the daily driver for fun for a couple of days (Yea, I breathed in toooooo many paint fumes, lol). Ok, lets see those costumes! Jeff My 57 at the October car show many years ago. I call it, the true nature of the beast. Next is my daily driver. Have some fun, life's too short.
  10. A BIG +1 on this one. Anything IH is welcome. Jeff
  11. That came out great! Ok, you sold me on the copper paint. That looks so smooth and sweet. Very good job. Jeff
  12. Thanks for the nice comments. I just wish I could paint as nice as a lot of the members on here. I really need to practice wet sanding and polishing more. Jeff
  13. Cool! The v-16 was definitely the way to go. I like the 50's style fins on the back too. Nice build. Jeff
  14. Oooooohhhhh, can't wait to see this one take shape. Very cool. Jeff
  15. I finally finished this one. Been working on it for well over a year now, kept hitting roadblocks that would derail me and make me set it aside for a while to cool down. I'm still not happy with the paint on it but I wanted it done, and nothing's perfect anyway. I used Krylon metalizers spray that they used to make, to paint it. First put down a silver coat, followed by the translucent color coat. I've used this paint before with good results, but just couldn't get it to work this time. I think it's because I used a different silver base this time. Oh well. I can't find it in stores anymore so might as well use up whats left over. I used the kit decals (built the Stevens International Mount N Goat version) to try to hide some of the imperfections. I can live with it, after all, it is a Jeep, lol. To make it more prototypical, I shoehorned in an AMC 304 V-8 from a CJ-7 kit I had for parts. I had to move the front crossmember and radiator forward so that the transmission and transfer case would still fit in the frame with the interior tub. I had to hog out the interior tub for clearance and use the shifter console from the kit to cover it up. I then had to make custom driveshafts out of aluminum tubing front and rear so they matched up with the axles and transfer case . When I started building it, I wasn't happy with the off road wheels and tires, I thought they looked too big and toylike. I saw on other threads that some think they are 1/20 scale, which makes sense, they just look "off" to me for some reason. I liked the Jeep Rubicon wheels and tires and used them. I also wasn't sold on the kit rollbar, so out came the Rubicon box again. I had to cut the Rubicon rollbar down a little to fit in the Commando tub, but I think this one looks good on it. Using photos of a Commando I took at the PA Jeep show in York, PA this summer, I detailed the interior the best I could. I shaved off the trim piece that runs around the exterior as my research found this was on eariler Jeepster models with the CJ style front end. I couldn't find any pictures of the later Commandos with the square front ends with this trim piece. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. Somebody more knowledgeable may be able to help. I added some partsbox items in the interior, some KC Hilite offroad lights to the front, and a winch fairlead and hylift jack to the front bumper to give it that weekend warrior look. I'd like to add some more detail to the.engine bay, battery and cables, brake lines, wiring, and more. But for now, I'm done. I'm a little disappointed with the paint, but happy with the rest of the model. Ok, enough blabbering, on with the pics. Ad as always, thanks for looking and comments are welcome. Jeff
  16. Maybe a group build is in order, kinda pass the kindness along. Jeff
  17. Man, that looks good. Makes me wanna go four wheelin. Jeff
  18. Aww man, I hate to say this, but I think I like it better in black with the copper fenders. But that's just me. Beautiful work so far. Can't wait to see this one finished. Keep up the good work. Jeff
  19. Very cool! Nice job on your build. The extras such as the signs, lights and flags really make your model pop. Jeff
  20. Wow! Just stunning craftsmanship and photography. Like some others said, I thought you posted pics of real vehicles you were going to build. Great job and keep up the good work. Jeff
  21. This is really lookng good. Keep up the good work. Jeff
  22. Great looking build. You guys captured the look of Bigfoot nicely. Congratulations on helping mentor a new modeler, hopefully for life. Jeff
  23. Sweet! Can't wait to watch the progress on this one. Nice choice for the engine swap. Jeff
  24. Thanks for the comments. Yes the Scout didn't fare much better, but it's still sitting in my friends backlot at his garage. Just waiting to hit the powerball to restore it, lol. It'll be long gone before that happens. Sigh....☹ Jeff
  25. Thanks for the reply. I'd buy a couple if they ever came out again. Jeff
