That's pretty good! And, to go along with it:
-
I heard about Pat Sajak's comical "rant" about having to go out in public with a mask on and, as a celebrity, NOT being recognized. Pretty funny satire. And then I realized, there's still at least one celebrity who could go anywhere in America WITH a mask on and still be recognized by almost everybody. Richard Petty.

Uh, no. Not even close.

You should delete this blatantly political comment, too. Oh, and thanks for deleting the other offensive one, which was also political.

Very nice, and great save! I picked up a glue bomb of this kit last year and your build is inspiring me to move it up on the To-Do list. Well done and model on!

Gotta love that A-10 whistle/whine! You hear them coming long before you see them!

Automotive (and other) toys from our childhood
Snake45 replied to Harry P.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I had one of these as a kid. (Channeling Mitch Hedburg I still have it, but also, I had it as a kid: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-SOX-MARTIN-DEALER-PROMO-DRAG-RACE-GAME-PLYMOUTH-ROADRUNNER-GTX-CUDA-MOPAR/174101625199?hash=item288943f96f:g:HzQAAOSw09pdy3qD -
1/25 AMT Y-193 '69 Camaro Kit History & Evolution
Snake45 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
You can see br67's yellow original AMT '69 Camaro here, page 1019 : -
Oh I'm good on TP for the moment. I ordered a case off Amazon a month ago and haven't even opened it yet, though I'll probably be doing so in the next few days. The Lovely Mrs. Snake has been down at our daughter's for the last three weeks helping take care of the grandbaby, so the house usage is down, fortunately.

1/25 AMT Y-193 '69 Camaro Kit History & Evolution
Snake45 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Good luck with that. There aren't that many original AMT '69 Camaros floating around here anymore, though I believe BR67 in South Africa has recently been working on one. I did a post where I compared the MPC and the Revell, and the Revell body is VERY similar to the original AMT. I'll see if I can find it for you. ETA: Here it is. Be advised that this is the '80s reissue MPC body. The NEW issue AMT body (same basic kit) is much, much worse. -
1/25 AMT Y-193 '69 Camaro Kit History & Evolution
Snake45 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
There was NO tool sharing going on between AMT and MPC on the '68-'69 Camaros, I can assure you. Two completely, entirely different kits. Your confusion comes from the fact that what's left of the old MPC '69 Camaro has been reissued at least once in an AMT box, but there is not one original AMT piece in it. The original annual AMT '69 Camaro is quite nice, and holds up well in comparison to the Revell. In some ways it's actually more accurate, though not quite as detailed in chassis and so forth. It lives on today in the body of the Funny Hugger funny car, though the wheel openings have been altered. The Monogram (introduced in the '70s) is a 1/24 scale turd. Although we had nothing else to work with for a couple decades, there is no reason to waste time on one today. -
The Ads Are Now Out of Control!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You'd THINK that the algorithm would decide to present US with ads for model retailers, paints, airbrushes, hobby tools of all kinds, and so forth. But, evidently, not. Every now and then there will be a model car on eBay, but not nearly as often as you might expect. -
Please stop it, both of you. There are plenty of places on the net to argue about this topic, and this thread is NOT one of them. We've got a good thing going here. PLEASE let's not screw it up, gang!

If anyone complains (by name not anonymously), I will be glad to go back and delete that one (as long as it's within the next two days). Fair enough?

The Ads Are Now Out of Control!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh I'm a member of several gun boards, and have searched for a certain amount of other gun stuff. I just wonder how the algorithm decided I'd be a good customer for an expensive suppressor, in which I have shown exactly ZERO interest. -
Well, for one thing, it's got nothing to do with Coronavirus, much less the lighter side thereof, and therefore has no business in this thread. Back on topic:

Here's a thread with detailed discussion on what's known on the thing so far:

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

Rick, you were registered in Round 5, which ended December 31, 2019. One extension would have taken you till Mar 31, which was still a month ago. -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The '69 Malibu had the chrome trim strip, but the SS396 did NOT. The '68 SS had it. The AMT '69 SS kit has incorrectly had it for decades, carried over from the '68 kit. The original '69 El Camino didn't, though. -
This isn't going to tell you what you want to know, but.... Photos of other builders' black paint aren't going to tell you much. YOUR results are going to depend entirely on how well YOU can polish out the clearcoat.

My Walmart had two items I haven't seen in over a month--DiGornio Three Meat frozen pizza, and Ball Park microwavable grilled hamburger patties. I stocked up! Still no TP, though. Oh well.
-
My Walmart was restocked on the DecoColor Premium Silver Leaf Markers (they haven't had them since I bought my first one about two months ago), so I grabbed two more. You know what they say--if something's any good, they'll stop making it (or Walmart will stop carrying it). This is the thing that's about 90% as shiny as Molotow, but dries faster, is more durable, and costs 1/4 as much. Highly recommended.
