My favorite was "Not that there's anything WRONG with that!" To this day I'm able to work that line into a conversation every now and then. And then of course, there was the Soup Nazi.

That boat reminds me of one that sat on the back lot of a boat dealer near where I worked in the early '80s. It was about the same size, and had tail fins, though not the sculpted/sylized sides like this one. Up front, there were two round flat spots where one could obviously mount headlights if one wished. Pretty cool--we'd call it "that '50s boat."

I was also of this impression. Probably the easiest/best option.

Yeah. And of course it can be kitbashed with the newer one.

Beautiful build and great workmanship but I can't get behind the colors. I spent most of my childhood and early teen years trying NOT to be seen in the back seat of my folks' similarly-colored '59 Bel Air (they kept the hideous thing NINE YEARS ). Oh, the humanity! Seriously, though, nice work.

The situation absolutely demands that a stupid and futile gesture be done on somebody's part. Back on topic: I think I bought the Nomad back in the '90s. The body must have been bad because I have a second body for it. Back in those days I did a LOT of complaining to AMT, Revell, and Monogram about this kind of thing.* I bought two Revell '56 Chevies and both had bad bodies. I complained and they sent me two new bodies, both equally bad. A while later I found a built glue bomb at a club meet for $100. It was a hot mess, but it was an old issue and the body was straight! I still have it and if the mood ever strikes me again, I'm all set to build an old-school Revell '56. *I still have a sizable box of bodies with crushed roofs from that era. -
I think it's been reissued at least twice since then. Probably about due for another repop, too, in the next couple years.

It should look cool on the shelf next to the two original '67 promos I restored/rescued earlier this year.

Have now performed the first round of Snake-Fu on this semi-evil thing. More pics and complete description of the necessary surgery here:

Bought this at Hobby Lobby a couple years ago. The overall body shape is pretty good. Interestingly, they got the front valence panel line right (where Monogram got it wrong). It's done as a strange amalgam of AAR and HemiCuda features—basically a HemiCuda (with Shaker hood and a Hemi under it) with AAR paint treatment (less the AAR emblems, go figger). Google says they've made these in a couple different colors, but all have this same strange treatment. One other problem with it: Looks like the guy whose job was to design the rear end taillight panel just never showed up to work, but they pressed on anyway with just a plain flat chrome panel back there. I first thought mine was just missing an important part, but google-image says no, they're all like that. Ah shucks oh well. Nice wheels, though. Anyway, here's what it looks like out of the box. Notice the door that sticks out. Google-image says they're all like that, an inherent flaw. Mine also has a nasty paint bubble or blister of some kind right behind the driver's door handle. Here it is, out of the box, with a Monogram '71 to compare size and shape. First job was to fix that door. I removed it, filed the screw-hole out to where it would fit flush, then built up the other side of the screw-hole with J-B Weld. Filing the hole took me a couple evenings in front of the TV back when I first got this thing in late 2017; dreading the J-B Weld part of the job committed the project to the Shelf of Doom until a couple months ago. Ironically, it went smoothly and only took about 20 minutes. That handled, time to do something about the blank rear panel. I looked into grafting in one from the first-issue Revell AAR '70 kit, then decided it was more trouble than it would be worth at this point. So I cut a piece of .030” sheet styrene to fit the hole, rattlecanned it Testor White Lightning, masked off the backup lights, rattlecanned it Krylon Sparkle Red, masked off the taillights, and rattlecanned the whole thing Krylon Satin Black. It ain't perfect, but at least it's SOMETHING back there. (The right rear bumper guard is also broken on mine. Oh well, might fix that someday.) From there on it was all first-degree Snake-Fu Detailed the grille. Detailed the wheels (which came out great). Silver Sharpie where necessary. Added the front and rear side market lights. Darn, it doesn't look half bad! Final verdict: It looks far better than at least two of Revell's attempts at a '70 Barracuda, and I'd argue it even has its strong points against the third. IMHO it's fit to sit on the same shelf with the 1/24 Monogram '71, a good but not perfect kit that has its own little problems. I like it well enough that at some point I will probably repaint it, if/when I run across a cheap, easy (rattlecan) paint that can pass for B5 Blue. Of course the AAR graphics will go at that time (and I can remove that wart on the driver's door), and it will live out its life as the Hemi Cuda it really is ("billboard delete," of course). When I repaint it, I'll have another go at coming up with a good solution for the rear taillight panel, too. I might fill in the holes for the wing, too. Thanks for looking, and as always, comments welcome!

Apparently a bunch of people are spending their stimulus checks on eBay, buying up the same stuff I'm looking for, if recent prices are any indication....

What he said. Church! -
Very clean build, well done! Model on!

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAHA! Those are hilarious! (Personally, I'm starting to look like Aqualung.)

I just finished a quickie Snake-Fu resto on a survivor original AMT '66 Mustang fastback I bought off eBay. More pics Under Glass when I get the time to write it up.
-
I have a couple '69s with not-great chrome, too.
-
That's a beauty! I restored a '65 convertible last year, and have a couple '66 HT promos and glue bombs coming up for rework, but haven't been able to score a '66 convert yet.

Some of it came that way originally. And yes, I've seen it dull over the years too. Not always, but sometimes.
-
All you need to convert it is the decals and wheels from the Revell '69 Yenko Camaro. Who here doesn't have several of those laying around?

Nice salute to emergency workers by the coaches and Top 9 of The Voice last night. Pretty cool!

I think I saw one of these on Car Kings last night.

Very cool, very sharp!

Thanks for the tip! I was gonna try filing them thinner, but I'll look for those parts.
