  1. DOG SLED! THERE we go! Succinct and descriptive! I KNEW there had to be some kind of way to describe these things! Thanks Daddyfink!
  2. Agree completely. I'm gonna try to make my own from it.
  3. Interesting composition! If one didn't know better, and/or didn't think about it too much, one might assume they're gonna drop that body onto a full chassis.
  4. I recall the rumors going round that he'd been killed in Nam. And then the even stranger truth came out--he was an LAPD cop! RIP, Eddie.
  5. Yah yah yah, I know all about slingshots and rails and diggers, but those terms lived on long past the type of roll bars I'm asking about.
  6. I've never liked the '26-'27 roadster body, and have never seen a "good looking" car built on one. And then, this morning, I saw one that really caught my eye, in a 2013 Hot Rod Deluxe. If one appears, I'm in!
  7. If you have a Paasche H, a compressor with tank, and a gallon of generic lacquer thinner, you are good to go with Testor Enamels for a LOOOOOONG time! Drive on!
  8. Is there a name for the type of dragster frame as seen in the AMT Double Dragster and Monogram Sizzler/Revell Slingster? I mean the old style with dual roll bars on the sides of the driver. I've started calling them "handrail" frames because they remind of handrails on stairs, but I wonder if there's another name used for them. I know that Chassis Research built some of these, as did Kent Fuller (before he went to the single overhead loop that eventually became the norm, around 1962).
  9. Just scored an original annual AMT '66 T-bird convertible (built but never painted) off eBay. It's been reissued many times (and I have a few of them), but none of the reissues AFAIK has ever included the original kit's phantom "sports roadster" tonneau cover, and this one has it. I want to build a copy of the custom one I built in 1967 (but of course better). I SHOULD still own this model but haven't seen it in a while and can't find it--I've been looking for it for a couple years because I'd like to do a survivor resto on it. But I'd still like to do a new, better one using my current skills (mainly in painting). Modelhaus used to sell a "64-65-66" T-bird tonneau cover. I have one but it's not shaped quite like the one I remember, and is a little small. I think it's from a 64 or 65 and the 66 must have been different. Was gonna drive on with that part but now I'll have the part I really want. Bought this car on a "make offer" deal--first time I've tried that. I made what I thought was a very reasonable offer (higher than the opening bid, but quite a bit lower than I'd have been willing to bid if it had gone that way) and was surprised when the seller accepted it almost immediately. Very happy with how it turned out.
  10. Very sad news. I heard yesterday that a Snowbird had crashed, but hadn't heard any details. Thank you for your service to your country, Capt. Casey. You will be missed.

    Revell 70 Cuda

    Sweet interior! What's that grille?
  12. Dunno, but that stuff thins quite well for airbrush use with common generic lacquer thinner.
  13. Don't cut up that nice Cuda body! Would you be interested in swapping that "imperfect" teardrop hood for a stock one? I just realized that I'm gonna have to break up one of my '66 HT kits for parts to complete a couple other resto projects. That teardrop hood might not be perfect, but it would work GREAT on an original-build "survivor" I just restored. (Better than the two oddball holes in the hood on it now, anyway.)
  14. Yeah. The Impala in those pics looks most like what I "remember" the color as being (although all those are pretty close). As I said, the OP car looks a hair darker and a hair grayer to me. And it's definitely not all-original (i.e., it's been repainted). But you're probably right, it's probably (though not certainly) Frost Green.
  15. I dig the "Murder Novas."
  16. I'm not 100% sure the car in the first pic is '69 Frost Green. It's a restored or restomodded car, and it might be some kind of custom blend. To me, it looks a hair darker and a hair grayer. About 10 years ago there was a '69 Camaro running around in my town with its original Frost Green paint (and dark green vinyl top--pretty sharp combination!). I remember the color being just a little more "lime-y" or "avacado-ish" than the one in Steve G's pic. Here's some more pics of '69 Camaros in Frost Green. As you can see, there's a little bit of variation in how it looks in pics. Maybe the OP car is Frost Green after all. (BTW, there were no original Frost Green Yenko Camaros.) https://www.69pace.com/paint1969frostgreen.htm
  17. That doesn't look bad at all--a darn fine starting point. At least you have one taillight--if you can't find another, you can sili-clone that one. It looks like you're doing good work with that Barracuda, too. Drive on! Your project reminds me of a '67 Cyclone I have in the works. Couple years ago I bought at the local toy show an original annual AMT '67 Cyclone because IMHO the old body is MUCH better looking than the current issue. It was missing some interior and chassis parts, but not a deal killer, I can get those out of a "new" one. Only snag was the hood had been cut open for the injectors, but that's fixable. After stripping the old paint, I had a change of plans. I'd always wanted a Burgundy '67 Comet on my shelf in honor of an old friend's car, but this one stripped so cleanly, to such nice, beautiful virgin 1966 white styrene that now I'm planning to polish it up in white. Now the hole in the hood is a HUGE problem. So I watched eBay and it took me about a year but I scored a second one with an intact hood. Haven't stripped it yet but I've got my fingers crossed that that hood will strip as clean as the first body. And I can use the leftover parts (second body with first hood repaired) to build a whole second car in my originally desired burgundy. Keep us posted on both your Fairlane and Barracuda projects. A lot of us here would be interested in your work. Drive on!
  18. There are a number of reissue kits of the '60s with their cool custom parts intact on the market right now cheap. Pick one and go for it! I'm planning to do two or three of them myself.
  19. Ah, so THAT is your plan! We'll see how that works out for ya.
  20. Some days, all that keeps me going is, I hope to live long enough to see you actually finish one of them. Any one of them.
  21. Perfectly said. https://www.dictionary.com/e/slang/karen/
  22. Kewl! Do they have the mil-spec laser sight available for it yet?
  23. Looks pretty good! I had a chance to buy one of these cheap at Ollie's just a couple years ago and passed because I already have another Carousel Red '69 Judge diecast on the shelf. If I'd known the thing about the headlights, I'd have bought it. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  24. Paasche H is just about perfect for model car work. Only if you're gonna get into murals or other fine, fancy work would you ever need anything else.
  25. The simple fact is that every kit is a law unto itself. Every manufacturer has issued gems and turds, and the name on the box is no guarantee of getting one or the other. If you have questions about a specific make and model, I suggest you go down to the Kit Reviews section and run searches. Chances are you will turn up at least one thread on just about any model car you can think of. Read those, look at the pictures, and then ask any other questions that might arise from that research. We'll be more than glad to help. But your question as asked is basically unanswerable and will lead to nothing but bad feelings down the line. Welcome back to the hobby! There's never been a better time to be a car modeler.
