  1. I guess in a few years the content will be beamed directly into our brains via the 9G network (along with all kinds of other things). With any luck I'll be dead by then.
  2. Agreed. I wouldn't pay $10 for it. Wouldn't take it for free. You couldn't pay me $10 to take it home. You could pay me $100 to take it home, but not if you stipulated that I had to keep it and display it proudly.
  3. Now see, this is what I would call "timeless classic" rod style. It would have looked good on the street anytime from the mid-'60s right through to Next Year (at least), regardless of what anyone else in the street rod movement was doing. What's not to like here?
  4. It'll remove nitro/lacquer-based final fillers, such as hobby putties, Sikkins, 3M Acryl Red, and so forth. Not sure about Milliput or Bondo. If they're two-part, epoxy or polyester, the purple pond might not affect them much, or at all. Let us know how it works, then we'll have a definite answer.
  5. Yah, I was playing with it five or six years ago for a while. It always amazed me that it could get any particular member of Pawn Stars or Swamp People I was thinking of. When I was trying to get Bill Jenkins, at one point it asked "Was your character known for treating his fans unkindly?" I answered No because I don't think Grump really had a reputation for treating fans badly, he was just a no-nonsense kinda guy from what I gather. But I think that might have sent the thing in the wrong direction and it didn't get him, though it does have him in their database.
  6. My Walmart has been a supercenter for a decade and up till maybe 6 or 8 months ago, they had a pretty good selection of magazines. Then they cut the display back to about half the magazines they'd previously carried, maybe less. Not much left in cars, though I'll say they stuck with Car Craft and Hot Rod Deluxe right to the end of the line. I still get my Car Kulture Deluxe and Old Skool Rodz there, so that's cool.
  7. Whew! For a minute there, I thought you were gonna build the hideous box art custom.
  8. Wow, pretty impressive! Better than about 90% of the "Readers' Models" in the old model car mags of the day.
  9. No more newsstands in my town. ONLY place to get magazines now is Walmart, and they don't have all the ones I want, so I have to subscribe to a few. I could save a lot of money by subscribing to them all, but I LIKE buying them at Walmart. Gives me something to read while I stand in line at the deli or checkout. And the funny thing is, if I'm buying a magazine, the lines are usually short or nonexistent. If I don't buy a magazine, lines, lines, lines! Ain't it always the way!
  10. Now counting down till when this thread is either locked or broomed entirely. Gonna go take a nap. I'll bet it's not here when I get up in a couple hours.
  11. Or start with a very light mist coat, and build up from there.
  12. Now, see, I'd try to bring that one back to stock, or at least a stock-bodied street cruiser, using chassis, interior, etc. from a common "new" '66. I bought a couple real glue-bomb AMT "Time Machine" '65 Chevelle AWBs and was gonna try to take at least one of them all the way back to stock. Then I FINALLY scored a Craftsman '65 Chevelle. So now I'm looking to restore the AWBs as AWBs. Still gonna be a mess, the A-pillars and/or cowls are messed up on both bodies. Will probably try grafitng those in from a common Revell Z16. Speaking of '65 Chevelles, anyone catch the Memphis Street Outlaws' "new" '65 Chevelle last night? Hella cool! And looks like another MSO winner. Precious dragged that guy all the way down the street with it! Off with his whole haid!
  13. Here's a new way to use it--when referring to "legal analysts" on network TV. It's all in the pronunciation!
  14. That's how we finally got the AMT 1/48 A-20 Havoc. Friend of mine had just spent over a year working on a vacform when it was announced. Also, y'all can thank me for the reissue of the Revell '66 Impala. I just bought a couple restorable promos and original glue bombs on eBay. Oh well I think the AMT body is better shaped anyway.
  15. Looking at the Harrell-Borsch-Muse Altered. Thanks all for the speedy replies!
  16. I think they're called Halibrand spindle-mounts. What kit(s) might have them, or who in the aftermarket makes them in resin? I could use at least one set, maybe more.
  17. Doug Marcaida of Forged in Fire seems incapable of testing a knife unless he's said this first. Maybe it's in his contract. (Maybe he's sponsored by Home Depot?) (BTW, he's got a sense of humor. His catchphrase is "It will kill," and in the first few seasons, he'd say it just like anyone else would. But somewhere along the line people started picking this up as "It will keel" or "It will keeeeel" or even "It weel keeeeel" and now about half the time, he delivers the line like that, with a big smile. Gotta love a guy who can laugh at himself.)
  18. I concur that the Cessna is a 150, not a 172. Different airplane (though a definite family resemblance). About 30 years ago I started trying to convert one of these to an L-19, just because there was nothing else available to start with. Just as I was nearing completion on it, OF COURSE someone released a very acceptable L-19 kit. Happens every time!
  19. It is what it is. Here we are.
  20. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!
  21. At the end of the day, it's a new paradigm.
  22. Please stop it. We don't want to lose this hilarious thread.
