  1. Unless they've done significant modification to the tooling, the box art on the '65 GTO is fraudulent. The kit piece no longer looks anything like the front end of a real '65 GTO.
  2. Would probably be too big. I'm planning to put a Revell 1/25 body on my leftover IMC Altered chassis. The old Revell 1/25 kits are still available for reasonable prices on eBay.
  3. That old IMC Beetle is a cool kit. You can build a stock Beetle and have enough parts left over to build an AA/Altered with another body--and it wouldn't have to be a VW body, either.
  4. Hence my weasel-words, "if that means anything."
  5. There were no 440 Road Runners in '68, only 383 and Hemi, so no 440 Road Runner would have been allowed in Super Stock. (I think S&M ran a 440 GTX in another class.) Checked the book. No good engine pics of the '68 RR, but their '68 Cuda SS/B was cross-ram, if that means anything....
  6. Details! We need details! Show us something cool!
  7. Might be easier to find a picture of Sox & Martin's '68 Hemi RR engine. It's a good bet they ran the same kind of setup. If I get a chance, I'll see if I can find a pic in their book.
  8. It also looks better in real life. They also make the '64 Cutlass, which is better than the R&R.
  9. Interesting, I'd never heard of/seen that one before! Is that the Olds version of the Chevy Corsica? I drove a 4-door Corsica for a while, wouldn't be difficult to paint one of these to match it.
  10. Those would both be fine, also the ones in the '72 Nova.
  11. Okay, I'll bite: How exactly would one get into that thing to drive/ride it?
  12. Good to hear it. Drive on! GITTER DONE!
  13. Cragars would work fine for this. So would any of the slot mags, Americans, Keystones, etc. I believe the "Super Trick" plain disk wheels were also coming into use by this time.
  14. Thanks! Those things seem to be called roof vents or roof louvers or quarter louvers. It wasn't uncommon to see those removed and the hole covered over on drag Mustangs of the day. Sometimes sheetmetal was just pop-riveted or screwed on, in other cases it looks like some care was taken for a more finished look. BTW, I just restored/rescued a glue bomb AMT '66 Mustang where the louvers had been somewhat crudely hacked out. I had to carefully clean up and refine the opening, and then I made Shelby-like windows from the side window glass from a '72 Nova. That was kind of interesting work. Before and after: Thanks, I appreciate the encouragement!
  15. Yes, one COULD be built that way. But Pontiac tri-power was long passe by 1972. It was discontinued for 1967 IIRC and everyone was working with single or double 4-bbls ever since. (Yeah, Chevy had 3x2 on the 427 as late as '69 but it wasn't the hottest setup.) The last great gasp of three-twos was on the '69-'70 ('71?) Mopars. So build it that way if you want, but it would be kind of unusual.
  16. Roadrunner, here's your instructions: https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/monogram-instructions/show-rods/monogram-classic-32/dsc2151.html#media
  17. If you DON'T cut the hood, later on if you decide you're over Pro Street and wish you hadn't done it that way, you can easily restore it to stock or Day Two.
  18. I've seen a simple blister-packed model of a Ford roadster sold in the '50s or '60s--might have been powered by an electric motor, or maybe a rubber band or something. Could one of the sheets have been from that?
  19. I think this works so well because the top's profile is very similar to the original '65-'66 Mustang fastback top's. The side windows and enlarged backlight then bring the shape into the 21st Century (and in real life would be more practical from a visibility standpoint, as well). Again, nicely done!
  20. Progress being made.... First coat of paint on. Shown here after first sandout to remove some dust. Original plan was to lay 4-6 coats of this paint on and polish it out direct (no clearcoat), but in doing this dust sanding I realized just how many sharp edges this body has. It would be just about impossible (for me, anyway) to polish it out without going through to primer or plastic somewhere, which means starting over. No thanks. Gonna hit it with a few coats of clear instead, and polish that.
  21. Got that one off eBay about a decade ago. I have a resin one that I hope to get started building in the near future. Been rounding up all the pieces and I think I have everything I need.
  22. Maybe at some point they'll give us a new hardtop, too.
  23. Yah, your first reaction is always, "Why did it have to die TODAY???!!!" Which is stupid, because we all know that it's going to die SOME day. At least it didn't happen when I needed to make an important eBay bid, or something of that nature. Just ate up an hour or two of what was kind of a slow day. Or maybe I just get less upset by life's little glitches than I used to, or something.
