  1. Very, VERY nice! How about some details on the parts and paints you used? Well done and model on!
  2. Looks like (counting the airplane and the big rig) we've had 11 people express interest in Round 3, so I'll add my name to the list for #12: RobertW: Hasegawa Lockheed Neptune Straightliner59: Junior Fueler Dragster BelugaWRX: Wolf WR1 Mod3 lLover: Mustang Dave Branson: BMW Hartage M5 NAFAW9: Maybe? Geemoney: ’34 Ford Disconovaman: Probably some kind of pickup—’55 Ford? Bobthehobbyguy: ’32 Ford 5-window Bandit1: Some kind of big rig, maybe? Prostreeter69: ’69 Camaro Snake45: ’66 Chevelle SuperbirdMcMonte: '70 Monte Carlo Modlbldr: '65 Mustang Might as well just keep this thread going. Deadline date on Round 3 will be June 30, three months. If you're in, please post a pic of what you're starting with, and maybe a little info about when you started the model and how long it's been doing time on your Shelf of Doom. As always, "workbench" pics are welcome in this thread or you're free to start your own Workbench thread on your completion build. Okay gang, you know what to do: GITTER DONE!
  3. Hey, if you're stripping the whole car, no problem. Rubbing alcohol will dissolve the BMF adhesive, and Easy-Off will just dissolve the stuff. Don't put any extra effort into it before you strip.
  4. That's how I had to take it off a couple recent "rescue" reworks. Nasty job but it has to be done.
  5. This should work for you: https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/instruction_sheetsh/instruction_sheets/revell-2/revell-ed-roth-56-f/
  6. Congrats! Glad to see you finally got one! Good luck with it! Meanwhile, back at the Snakepit.... Bought a ’65 Chevelle AWB “junkyard” off ePay last week. (Hat tip to ChrisBCritter for the headsup! ) Judging from the price, several wanted it bad; I wanted it more. The ‘yard included two bodies (glass installed), an extra set of glass, one interior more or less complete, one pristine bare chassis, parts of another chassis and interior (but no suspension for either), two grilles and front bumpers, two rear bumpers, two hoods, and one set of four original wheels. No engines/transmissions though I think I saw at least one header in the included baggie. And two almost complete decal sheets! The GOOD news is that both bodies seem to have usable Malibu SS scripts on the rear quarters, and usable Malibu rear panels. And all four taillights are present. The BAD news is that both bodies are kinda roached in the A-pillar area. The red one actually looks like it was gnawed on by a rodent of some kind. The cowl vent panel’s also screwed on one. The bodies will be taking a swim in Lake Purple, and then I’ll see how to go about fixing them. I think one can be fixed as-is, but the other will require some organ donation in the A-pillar and cowl vent area from a common Revell kit. I already have two more of these in the Snakepit Salvage Yard—remnants of the one I built back in 1967, and another body in only a little better condition than these two, but with a roached rear panel. I don’t think between the four that I have one complete set of kit parts, but I can probably piece together a chassis from a Rat Packer Nova. My goal is to try to restore my ’67-built original, more or less, as a survivor, and then try to get another one together, close to box stock, but built much better than my old one. The other two bodies will be put to good use as well.
  7. Very nice, both of them! Who made these? I have a "cheap" '69 Judge (I forget who made it) but yours of course look nicer.
  8. Here's April's display. Calendar Mustang is a blue '69 Mach I, diecast is a blue '69 Boss 302 with bogus Trans Am markings, so I matched make, model, year, and color, but not quite subvariant. Calendar Corvette is a red '76 Coupe, display model is a red '70 AMT snapper with extry-added Snake-Fu, so I matched make, model, and color, but not quite year. Close enough!

MVP of this round was SuperbirdMcMonte with three finishes all by himself! Okay, who's up for Round 3? Declare now. When we hit 8, I'll jump in as #9 and we're on. I already have a project picked out! WELL DONE, EVERYONE, AND MODEL ON!
  10. Pam's not 70. She's 64 or 65.
  11. Fabulous! I just ordered three of each. Should be great swap fodder in the future!
  12. DNM, you're Completion #9! WOOHOO! GOTTER DONE! See you in Round 3!
  13. I don't have any "childhood" cars. Never had any. I was an airplane kid. Started building model cars as a teen, and I still have most of the ones I built then.
  14. Well done, Bob! GOTTER DONE! And quite nicely, too! Looking forward to seeing you again in Round 3!
  15. This one, the wretched MPC '57 Vette flip-nose gasser. It's beat on me like a rented mule for over a decade. Got it "finished enough" today to take pics of it, and I'm declaring victory and marching home. Enough of it!
  16. I'm calling my '57 Vette gasser DONE! Truthfully, it's more like a case of declaring victory and marching home. This thing fought me every step of the way, from the day over a decade ago I took its misbegotten 2-piece flip front body out of the box, to the paint job that took over two years to dry, to...you pretty much name it. The final straw was trying to mount the rear glass yesterday, which, like so much else in this kit, doesn't even come close to fitting. There's a lot more I'd like to do with it, such as add a rear push bar and parachute, and roll bar, and side windows, and so forth, but I'm just so tired of playing with it at this point I just buttoned it up without even doing the slightest detailing on the dashboard. Maybe someday. I just got it "done" enough to take pictures of something that looks like a whole car. I've got a couple other projects I'm VERY eager about moving on to, and I just can't deal with this wretched backbirth any more right now. So that makes me Number 7 of Round 2. GOTTER DONE!
  17. Great news! So, how does one go about purchasing one or more of these grilles?
  18. And, going the other way, about a year ago I saw an ad for some sort of modern 18-20" wheels with a twist: They were made so you could paint fake blackwalls on them, and the centers looked like traditional 14-15" wheels. So you could have all the benefits (whatever they might be) of modern rubber band tires, AND traditional looks for your classic ride. I thought that was a pretty slick idea, but I haven't seen them again since.
  19. My daughter in law is a Registered Nurse, and graduated #1 in her class. While she was in college, my son was training (and then serving) as an Aeromed Tech in the USAF--bascially, a flight nurse. He was trained to do pretty much everything she was, plus some things she's not allowed to do to this day, and would need only 6 additional college hours in the field for an RN rating himself. After a full tour of nursing in the back of the airplane, he decided he'd rather be driving, so he became an officer and pilot and today is flying C-17s. He gets to wear TWO sets of wings on his uniform--one for his former enlisted aero rating, and of course his current pilot wings. If I were any prouder of him, I'd have to wear those astronaut diapers all the time.
  20. Speaking of this kit, has anyone ever tried to convert it to the military Kaiser M715? I bought it with that very thing in mind, but it might be more than my skills can handle. I might have to settle for a "M715-inspired" Honcho. The M715 is just badass. Only got to drive one once, and I loved every minute, every second of the brief experience.
  21. More like, what Batman drove in high school.
  22. Very cool! I've never seen one of these. Will buy one if I run across it. Thanks for posting it!
  23. Yeah, I know the color and I agree that that's what's on the '65 Plymouth above. But the later Duster looks much more like a pure orange to me.
  24. The graphic on his web page is orange. Not red. Not even Ford Poppy Red. Orange. Just sayin'.
  25. Cruiserline Ventiports!
