  1. Fabulous! Didn't realize they'd reissued that. Is it in current issue, or now old and "collectible"? I wish they'd reissue the Men from UNCLE. I have the original Napoleon Solo and Illya I built in 1965 or '66, missing only maybe a few leaves from the plants, and have considered restoring them, but of course I'd rather start with new kits and leave my old ones alone. They seem to be right on 1/12 scale--for many years I had them exhibited with my 1/12 scale '67 Mustang fastback (who made that--Cox or Wen-Mac or somebody--runs on battery but can be converted to model airplane engine power) and they seemed to fit right in. Today you could put them with a Monogram 1/12 '67 Corvette or '69 Camaro.
  2. Yesterday (2/27) I received the Bandit Resin parts I ordered, which I consider very good delivery from a resin vendor. The '69 Barracuda hoods I received look fine, and I look forward to using them. It's too bad that the site's not easier to use/order from, but if you can find what you want and it gives you the option to add to basket, the system seems to work.
  3. Just to clarify the build guidelines: Post a START pic (where the stalled project was when you restarted it) and a DONE! pic (self-explanatory) when it's finished. You can post work in progress pics in this thread if you want, or start a separate WIP thread on your build if you'd prefer. Hotrodblder, it's not too late to get in on this round--you still have the whole month of March. Just post a Start pic of your project and declare that you're in, and will try to GITTER DONE by March 31, and you're in!
  4. Couple months ago I saw a late model Jeep Cherokee (or some model) with a paint that was remarkably close to Verdoro Green. Maybe a local Jeep dealer would have this in a touchup can.
  5. Well, anything but Poly-S (no longer available). Lacquer thinner turned Poly-S, to my utter amazement, into instant Jello!
  6. Mr. Mailman brought me a couple things I've been wanting for a LONG time: 1. Some Bandit Resins phantom 440+6 hood for MPC '69 Cuda. Thinking of trying to build a phantom '69 AAR Cuda. I have another cool idea, too. 2. AMT Craftsman '65 Chevelle, an eBay score. Seems to be complete, except for taillights, and I can borrow those from an old AWB funny car body and sili-clone them. The body's in primer but seems to be VERY straight and clean. Thinking of stripping it and prepping it and offering it to a GOOD, reputable resincaster so we can ALL have accurate, reasonably priced resin '65 Chevelles. At the very least, I'll sili-clone the rear panel myself so I can convert some Revell Z16s to the much more common non-Z16s.
  7. There's nothing that says you can't have a separate build thread if you want. Go for it! Just let us know when you GOTTER DONE!
  8. I've been using your first one for about 20 or more years now. I literally couldn't build models without it. One thing to watch for: It WILL take some time to get used to. It can almost make you dizzy at first, but that will go away after a few times you use it and your eyes (and brain) will quickly and automatically make the necessary adjustments.
  9. I told you: Not on the same planet. Literally.
  10. Not in the ballpark. Not even on the same planet.
  11. Great finish, and a nice looking model. I might have to get one of these. Well done and model on!

  13. Somebody had a question about the blower drive setup on that kit up in the Questions section. Maybe you can help him.
  14. So no one's even trying this one?
  15. I don't think my HL has had them yet, but they did have the Boss 302 last week.
  16. Bought it from Amazon. It was over $25, so free shipping (though no priority). They originally promised me a delivery date of nearly a month (March 9, IIRC, which isn't here YET), but I ordered it on a Monday morning at got it USPS on Thursday! I now have the Jenkins, Sox, Landy, and Nicholson books, and love them all. Can't recommend them highly enough!
  17. I've called it simply "the natural cussedness of the universe."
  18. Very nice indeed! Well done and model on!
  19. Clean 'em up, repair and touch up as necessary, and display 'em as proud survivors. I've got a couple Marlins--one I started (it's completely painted) about 1969 that I can't figure out how I want to finish. The colors are nowhere near factory so stock is out. Could go mid-'70s street cruiser, or a modern sort of restomod look. Or maybe even drop in on a Pro Street chassis. The other one is a fairly clean glue bomb survivor from an estate sale in the early '90s. It might be molded in turquoise (I haven't seen it in a while)--if so, I might just polish out the plastic and two-tone it with white trim. Back in the day, I thought Marlins were almost as cool as Chargers and fastback Mustangs, but now, they just look kind of old and dated and dippy. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
  20. Why strip it at all? Remove the tampo graphics with Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover, then just sand the paint with #800 Wetordry, wet, and it should make a perfect primer for whatever you have in mind--especially since it's already white.
  21. Yeah. I just added the Dyno Don book to my library, so I'm in the mood to put a couple DD kits on the shelf, and this looks like an easy, no-hassle build.
  22. I believe it's the F6 Bright Green that's the same as Chevy Rally Green, and the 999 Rallye Green is a slightly different color.
  23. I have the impression that the GSX might be a little smaller than the Chevelle. (I can't find my GSX at the moment--a complete mystery where it is, but it'll turn up eventually.) If you have it, you might check. It would be easier to modify the plastic top as necessary anyway, I think.
  24. Last night I checked the NHRA 1966 rulebook, the Modified Production and Gasser sections, as well as the generic Safety regulations at the back of the book. No ban on extended shackles at that time, though of course they might have banned them later. I'm going for somewhere in the 1965-67 timeframe with this build.
  25. Another $10 Rite Aid rescue. Have seen these around for a couple years and was never that impressed with them, but was looking for a quick, cheap project. Required less than three hours of 1st Degree Snake-Fu and I was absolutely AMAZED at the transformation. White on headlight stems, white Sharpie on backup lights. Red Sharpie on rear side marker lights. White Sharpie, then Testor Orange and Turn Signal Amber to detail the front parking lights/side markers. Testor Aluminum to detail the sheetmetal areas around the headlights and grille that were molded in chrome. Thinned the U-handle shifter a little and painted the handle black. Tamiya Metallic Gray on the wheel spokes. And, finally, Molotow on the wheel lips moldings, door handles, and hood pins. The wheel spokes took the most time, about an hour. Done! It stands up VERY well next to the Revell snapper '70 I finished last year. The Welly is just a hair shorter, and a hair narrower. Could you use the Welly grille/bumper and rear bumper to convert the Revell to a '71 hardtop? It might work if you took a very thin slice out of the width of the Revell body. As always, comments welcome!
