  1. Interesting. And at least one and probably two of the kits I cited hadn't even been released then. So far no one has come up with a list longer than 10 for anyone else, so the book--and you--might very well be right!
  2. Who makes it? Where did you get it? It looks VERY close to '69 Ford Silver Jade, which I need for a '69 Mach I build. GREAT looking model, BTW. Well done and model on!
  3. Now I need to FIND some. No toy stores in my town anymore. The Walmart site shows them, but they might only be online, not sure if they're in the store. Same with Kmart. AC Moore doesn't show them and I didn't even try Michael's or Hobby Lobby. I wonder if Dollar stores or CVS or somewhere like that might have them? Hmmmmm. Several online vendors, but I'd rather buy 'em locally. And SEE 'em first. I could make my own out of Evergreen rod, but the trick would be getting getting two tips turned/shaved down to EXACTLY the same angle/contour. I wonder if someone makes a sharpener for TINY pencils?
  4. +1 to that. I like to see updated thread titles. (And do them myself.)
  5. To the best of my knowledge, ALL of the AMT AWB funny cars that have been reissued are exactly the same as they have been since original release (circa 1967) except decals and in some cases tires.
  6. Easy one: Stick 'em in a southerly-facing window for a couple weeks. (I've also put them on the rear package tray of my car in spring, before it gets TOO hot in there.) The yellow will bleach right out. Then, before using, coat 'em with Micro Superfilm. You're golden! (And the decals aren't. See what I did there?)
  7. And I thnk I have at least one of those in the Snakepit! NOW what I need is decals for the '65 "Bob Ford" Mustang he ran as a match racer and A/MP in 1969, the gold and blue one. Anyone ever do decals for that one?
  8. Hey, I just built the IMC. How hard could it be? Actually, at the moment, I'm just looking to make a fenderless Altered body, so a little filling/filing/whatever on the engine lid doesn't bother me. I also want to do another one with the body whacked off behind the doors and made into a stake-bed truck, and the engine lid fit is irrelevant to me on that one, too.
  9. So I got to wondering what else might have the same general size/shape. And I thought of: Pick Up Sticks! Remember those? Apparently, they're still made/available. I'm gonna try to find some this week. My idea: 1. File flats on the tips of two of them; cement securely together. 2. Trim off the tip till they match the manifold. 3. Then cut off the tops to desired length. 4. Drill openings and refine opening shape with Xacto #11. 5. Make molds and cast. I'll see if I can get a pair made this week, and send them to you. Think it will work?
  10. I bought one of those (VW '60s Beetle) at the local toy show but have never taken a good look at it. Just opened it up--it has the fender flares. And the sunroof line in the roof, but not open roof. The molding lines are pretty prominent, but I don't consider it a "lost cause." Hell, I've wrestled several MPC '69 Camaro and '67 Corvette reissues into submission, so I'm pretty confident I can make it my "witch."
  11. I'm planning to build a Mach I and am just going to use the new nose pieces on the old kit. The rest of the kit will get parted out. (The decals will go on a 1/25 diecast I have [as will the wheels/tires, if I can fit them on], the chassis will probably find its way under an earlier Mustang kit, and I'm sure I can find something creative to do with the engine.)
  12. Well no, not till you lay a couple file strokes on two of them. I thought you'd figger that out! The trouble is, they're rare. I'm not even sure I have one full set of them.
  13. Very sharp! I've been trying to decide what color to paint mine. Well done and model on!
  14. Funny how often that very thing happens at MY HL, too.
  15. Only thing like that I ever heard of was MPC would sell you a set of four of their new hollow vinyl Firestone tires for 50 cents. Wish I'd bought about $10 worth of them.
  16. M2 has it in diecast right now. I've seen several different iterations of it in person and they look pretty good, they just haven't offered a variant that particularly interested me.
  17. I can tell you I NEVER got everything I ordered from them (and it always took 3-4 weeks), always had a "credit" issued. I didn't do mail-order models again until I decided to try Squadron. When my first order came in about one week with an actual check for the item they were out of, I nearly wept with happiness. Couple years later, I was ordering from them almost monthly by phone, with credit card--even better!
  18. The real car became absolutely a Nicholson car, unless the Boyce book has that story completely wrong. I never counted the STP Cougar on my list, or anywhere else, though of course I counted the MPC version that was/is sold as Nicholson's.
  19. I never said he did. I said it was originally the STP Cougar, then he bought (and repainted, of course) and campaigned that car before it was wrecked, and then put a new '68 Cougar body on Eliminator II's chassis. So you could build a late Eliminator II (with blower, not injectors), and then build a Cougar body for it. Does that make it clearer?
  20. I could swear I've seen and possibly even own a Revell '68 with Nicholson decals, but a quick google search seems to support your position. I'd forgotten about the decals in the first-issue '69 Mach 1, but again google says you're right. Interesting, as Nicholson doesn't seem to have ever run a '69 Mustang. But it means that I've got what I need to build one. So, two points to you, sir, and I will correct the OP list.
  21. Yes, that's the one I was talking about. I have one. According to the Boyce book, Steffey returned the car to STP after a year, whereupon Nicholson bought it.
  22. I don't have the kit, but I'm sure it has the trim.
  23. No. https://www.google.com/search?q=wild+child+falcon&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj287nT_cDgAhUsn-AKHThLB9IQ_AUIDigB&biw=1636&bih=857
  24. I'm trying to talk AFX into it, as his nice build is already SO close to Daddy Warbucks. Look at the trim from the rear, looking down the side. The trim is all on the TOP half of the crease. I'd think it SHOULDN'T be TOO hard to just take that off with a purpose-build sanding block (perhaps starting the job by back-scraping with an Xacto). It should be fairly easy up to the front half of the front fender, where it starts really narrowing down, but even there it should be doable. I'm PRETTY sure I could pull it off without too much trouble. But I want to drive on and get this one on the shelf first.
  25. Just noticed something interesting about this pic. I'd always assumed that Daddy Warbucks and Gas Ronda were both Ford Poppy Red--a sort of reddish orange--but in this pic, Ronda's looks slightly but distinctly redder. Lighting/distance illusion? Two different colors? Two different "interpretations" of Poppy Red? Or just my imagination?
