  1. Yeah, that's the biggest eyesore on that kit, at least the first thing that screams WRONG! at me (and the loudest). I think enlarging the windshield, especially widening it, would go a long way toward improving the look of this kit. I built the Aurora Triumph Spitfire 1/32 as a kid and thought it looked pretty good (except of course for just being too darn small).
  2. Good heavens, why NOT use the cross-ram manifold? That would be different and look hella cool on a hot rod, especially a retro-'60s one.
  3. Thanks! The evil little thing is starting to grow on me. It started out just as a challenge to myself, to see if I could make that wretched backbirth MPC 2-piece flip front body look halfway decent.
  4. Not to mention that it would immediately become the biggest target on the whole battlefield.
  5. Hey, that's the same reprobate idiot who's gonna hot-rod a Bugatti 35!
  6. That's the whole idea. I've added you to the above list. I believe you're number 14. Good turnout, folks! Anyone else?
  7. Do any other states do this? And, how long do you have to have those plates on your car?
  8. I suspect that VW might be 1/24, which of course will be a little larger than the other two. What kit is it?
  9. Checked that box last night, there's nothing from that kit left in it. I MIGHT still have that decal--probably do, in fact--but now finding it will be a problem, and I can't paint an optimistic picture for you, sorry. OTOH, I did find a decal sheet for the original issue--the one you already did. You might consider posting a WANTED here for this decal sheet. I think odds are good that somebody here would have one unused.
  10. This is exactly what I would have told you. Your other option would be to narrow the '68 Elky body to match the width of the '69 grille. Not a particularly appealing prospect.
  11. I just paint 'em with a small brush and Model Master Black Chrome Trim, wiping off any overage as I go with a wood toothpick. The toothpick will also remove dried paint from "chrome" if necessary.
  12. If I have/can find them, and can scan them (my scanner was DOA last time I tried to use it), I'll scan and send them to you. Or maybe I can shoot a pic of them. IF I can find them.
  13. Y'know, I built that orange Monogram kit. I still have the box, too, which I've been using to store an original MPC '68 I need to rebuild. I'm pretty sure I even know where it is! I wonder if that box still has the original decals and those side exhausts in it? Hmmmmm....
  14. Maybe I should do that with the one I have painted orange. Actually, at the moment, I'm leaning toward white Yenko stripes. You usually see orange Yenkos with black stripes; the white ones seem to be much rarer.
  15. Today, for the First! Time! EVAH! (remember, I started working on it in or before 2005), my green '57 Vette gasser body (unitized from a wretched flip-nose kit) sat on a chassis with wheels/tires! It's a little high for my personal taste, especially in the front, but I have seen several pics of Vette gassers and /MSPs in the '60s that were very similar to this, so, oh well. (It IS called "Mr. BAD EXAMPLE," after all.) I guess that pins down what I'm doing with it, at least if I stay with this particular chassis (which is not set in stone). And here it is with the windshield frame and hard top set in place. Looks pretty evil, no? Still undecided about the top color--Sub Lime, or Testor Lime Green Metalflake? Or maybe pearl white? Black vinyl? Come to think of it, I have a couple spare tops, so I might do more than one. But if I paint the name on, it will be in Sub Lime, so that would match.
  16. Very nice! You don't see too many of these built anymore. Well done and model on!
  17. Beautiful, all of them! From one 1G Camaro guy to another, I tip my hat! Well done and model on!
  18. With the ill-fitting front fenders and the bent-up looking roof, that might be the perfect use for this kit.
  19. Absolutely! Just tell us what that is, and declare that you're in, and you're in! Welcome aboard!
  20. That's certainly an interesting juxtaposition! I've never heard of "party plates." Interesting concept.
  21. Very nice! The color's a little lime-y but when the build is this clean, who cares? Well done and model on!

  23. I spent some time googling this morning and I couldn't find anything about it. Not one single word.
  24. Very nice! You don't see these built very often. Well done and model on!
