  1. I LOVE the cheap Walmart primers, when I can find them. My local still has the flat black, but hasn't had white or gray for years. A few months ago I was able to order 6 cans of each off their website, but even that is hit or miss as far as what they have at any given time.
  2. I suspect that the current '68 Elky is wider than the old '72 Chevelle. You might be able to make it work, but you might have some scratchbuilding to do.
  3. I've always thought that was a pretty cool looking airplane, sorta like a militarized Hughes H-1. Sweet!
  4. Sweet! As I suspected, the ancient decals have yellowed. Put them in a window with a southern exposure for a few days and they should bleach right out. Then coat them with Micro SuperFilm before cutting them out.
  5. Thanks! What's wrong with the all-black steering wheel? I installed one exactly like that on my first '69 Camaro back in the late '70s. LOVED it! I forget which one of these it was exactly, but it was one of them, or something very much like it. I do remember it was smaller in diameter than the the stock wheel. http://www.grantproducts.com/products/browse/steering-wheels/automotive/
  6. Very, VERY nice! It's only plastic and it's YOUR plastic, so build it YOUR way! Well done and model on!
  7. I'm not necessarily a fan of the color itself, but I've done a few, and one advantage is it's very easy to touch up, as Los Bravos taught us back in 1966.
  8. Yup, great idea! I've also done this with #320 or #400 sandpaper, which also grips well.
  9. JImmy Flintstone makes a resin '72 body--or used to, at any rate. I have one. It's typical Flintstone--thick and problematic around the window edges, which is the main reason I haven't built it yet. It does come with a chassis based on the AMT '69. (No, mine isn't for sale or trade--I plan to build it someday.) One possible problem with it is it requires a donor AMT '72 Chevelle kit for grille and front bumper. That kit's getting a bit hard to find. The current or most recent reissue is based on the old MPC body and the grille's not the same (and not very good) and I don't know if it will fit the Flintstone body or not. So if you have or can acquire a glue bomb AMT '72 Chevelle for an organ donor, that's one way to go.
  10. Your patience is now rewarded. Finally got this thing buttoned up. Painting white behind the coke-bottle-green-tinted headlights didn't work at all (they still looked dark gray) so I hit 'em on the frontside with that acrylic craft white pearl. Not a perfect solution but 100% better. It turned out the Revell interior only BARELY fit in the body/chassis—I had to bow the chassis just a little as I screwed it back into place. Everything else was standard Snake-Fu--Silver Sharpie trim, grille blackwash, and so forth. Okay, it's not a Franklin or Danbury Mint, or a First Gear or M2 or even a first-rate Welly, but it's not too bad at all and can sit VERY proudly on the shelf with my Maistos, MotorMaxes, New Rays, and lesser Wellys (all of which are still pretty good—remember, I just don't buy “bad” diecasts). Hey, where else ya gonna get a diecast '67 Chevelle—in 1/25 no less! I've taken a kitschy, cartoonish toy and turned it into a fairly decent shelf model of a “Day Two” street fighter. And here it is with the Revell kit I built in the early '90s (when it first came out), which I see at this point could use some cleanup and restoration and general love. The WIX stands up pretty well, dontcha think? Thanks for looking, and as always, comments welcome!
  11. Maybe that's what I read...that they did it. Anyway, I don't think I've ever seen it before, thanks! It looks better than the Marlin, but that might be just because the rear wheel openings are larger. It looks at least as good as those weird fastback 1st Gen Chevy IIs--no, it definitely looks better. Not a fan of the quarter window shape, but I think I could do better. Okay, who has a roached glue-bomb Marlin body they want to send me to build one?
  12. Sweet! That's not far off from what I have planned for the glue bomb I picked up last year (see above). You're making me want to move it to the top of the To-Do list! On a related note, not too long ago I read where someone said that Rambler should have put the Marlin fastback top on the American body instead of on the Classic, it would have been a much better looking car. Got me thinking. If I had a real roached, glue-bomb grade Marlin body, I'd give it a try. (I have a Marlin kit, but am not gonna chop it up.)
  13. You're late to the party.

    32 Ford's

Here's my only two. The black one is a restored original survivor from the early '60s. The red primer one I built in the early '90s.

Dave, your pics of this model just made the new Hot Rod Deluxe. Congratulations and thanks for being a great ambassador for the hobby!
  16. One of the nicest renditions of any of Grumpy's Toys that I've seen.
  17. Very clean concept. Drive on!
  18. OMG that picture makes me want to put on some Bee Gees music!
  19. It's here again! May you have a very happy and productive 1/25!
  20. He's in good company. The Memphis Street Outlaws rolled three of them last year on Discovery Channel. (At least two have been beautifully rebuilt.)
  21. Cool! I was SO glad when Testor reissued this one back in the '80s. I think you'll like it!
  22. Very nice! Gold is one of the two colors my mind always automatically sees this car in (the other is red with black vinyl top). Well done and model on!
  23. Jain Temple, Calcutta.
  24. DNMan, this is your lucky day! I checked in an old file folder in which I had a bunch of old kit instructions. The instructions were in there! And the decals were in the instructions! So I tried to scan them. My scanner made ONE scan and then died, same thing it did last time. The bad news is that I have the decals kinda not-straight-across on the scan, and I can't do another one. The good news is that I had the foresight to also include the kit instruction sheet (which has the same graphic/logo across the top) AND a ruler in the scan, for sizing/scale. If you can get it all lined up and straight, it even has the original license plates on there. Shoot me an email and I'll email you the scan back. WARNING: It's enormous--almost 2400 kb. Hope that's not a problem. Snakeacp45 at aol dot com.
