  1. Her, or her body double (many or all of the GOT stars have them). CGI has gotten REALLY good these days.
  2. I made a black wash of Tamiya flat black and alcohol. It's worked very well for me so far for things like cowl vents.
  3. Very cool! Bob Peck Chevrolet, Arlington, WA? I have vague memories of a Bob Peck Chevrolet in the Washington DC area, perhaps Arlington VA. Coincidence? (Or was that Bob Beck Chevrolet? It's been so long....)
  4. Any Game of Thrones fans here? I can hardly believe how good this season is. It's all coming to a boil. I gather from the little interviews with the producers at the end of every episode that they enjoy slipping in little pop-culture references, homages and "Easter Eggs" from time to time. I thought I caught two of them in last week's episode (5). Anyone else catch them?
  5. That's pretty cool!
  6. Another typical super-clean RandyB build! Well done and model on!
  7. Thanks for the headsup. Have to keep my eye open for one of these.
  8. Now there's something you don't see every day!
  9. Your thread isn't GONE, someone just MOVED it down to the Questions and Answers section, where it belonged.
  10. My weapon of choice for this is Tacky Glue (available at Walmart), which is sort of a super-Elmer's. But I've also used Elmer's and epoxy. The two things you DON'T want to use are tube model glue, and any kind of superglue (CYA) unless it's specifically called "fog free."
  11. Yeah, MM Leather isn't far from their Rust. The Rust is a little redder but I wouldn't hesitate to do a rat-ish rod in straight Leather, either. Or, you might want to add a dash of MM or Testor Flat Red to either the Rust or the Leather. I'm not sure there's any kind of "standard" color for red oxide primer. I've seen all sorts of variations. Play around and you'll come up with a shade you like. Hey, I just remembered I have a couple relevant pics on the Magic Box. Here's straight MM Rust playing the part of "red oxide primer" on my low-buck '65 Chevelle Modified Production dragster.
  12. Yah, I did a '32 Ford in Model Master Rust a while back and it looked pretty good. Not a rat rod, just a primered early/mid '60s street runner.
  13. I have a Classic Metalworks '66 GTO in blue that came in kit form, and I'm quite happy with it. I have two of their '69 Camaros, too.
  14. Nice toque, eh.
  15. For an actual primer, or for a finish coat for something like a rat rod or beater? I have a big can of "red" primer, but I forget what kind it is. Might be Rustoleum. I'll try to remember next time I dive into the Snakepit. For a ratty rod finish, I like Model Master Rust, cut with lacquer thinner and airbrushed.
  16. I like that color. Can't wait to see how that works for you on your model. I have a project in mind I want to do in that color of something very similar.
  17. Pretty much any model car pic I post will have the window trim in Silver Sharpie.
  18. Since you seem to be building a fantasy car from an alternative reality, don't get hung up on accuracy or details. Do it whatever way you want, as nobody can really say you're "wrong." Maybe Corvettes were made out of steel on your planet! And so forth. Just have fun with it.
  19. I built that kit and the only thing I didn't like about it is, the grille appears much too shallow. I meant to order a couple repro MPC grilles from Modelhaus and forgot it on my last order until seconds after I hit SEND. I immediately got back on and the website was closed. Ah shucks oh well. Meanwhile, you guys are killin' me with that '69 Chevelle. I WANT one of those Fathom Green ones to go with my Fathom Green '69 Camaro! Where do I get one? All I can find is the orange ones on the First Gear site. For net shopping I usually get my diecasts from diecastmodelwholesale, but they're not showing it (and I'm about to order that Supernatural '67 Chevy from them anyway). Any ideas where I could get both of those from the same place? (I hate paying shipping charges.)
  20. Different strokes for different folks. That Barris custom above doesn't do a thing for me, except perhaps its color. I will say that it's one of the better looking things of this kind that I've seen. Many/most "customs" of this era make me shudder with their ugliness. This one doesn't.
  21. To my eye, the First Gear Chevelle looks much better than the Danbury Mint. DM really screwed up the roof/window silhouette, same as Testor did with that cheap diecast kit they were peddling a decade ago. I ended up Dremeling and filing the window openings to a more accurate shape, at which point I had a (barely) acceptable '68 Chevelle to put on my shelf.
  22. Be sure to get the NON ACETONE kind. It works great. And I got that from another member here--I think his name is Madhorseman, or something of the kind.
  23. Very cool project. I can't wait to see what you do with it! I have a yellow one in the Snakepit and am trying to figure out how to fix the badly shaped headlight buckets.
  24. Not a bad overhaul! Ain't it fun?
  25. I didn't notice until last night that the vent windows are part of the windshield, and thus stay with the body when the doors are opened! I might cut those loose and attach them to the doors. BTW, I did a little test last night and the Walmart nail polish remover will take off the silver tampo without bothering the red paint, no problem. The more I look at and play with the thing, the more I like it.
