  1. I'm pretty sure at least one of those boxings--maybe both--have both the small-block and the L88 hoods. (I can't find my copy, of course, just since I want to discuss it.)
  2. I don't have an instagraph, a facebook, a snapchatter, or a tweeter. Just this. And I'd tell you the same thing on Hyperscale, too.
  3. Oh, I LIKE that '67 Stinger hood. Does the roadster kit have the L88 hood? I don't remember. If it does, maybe we can work out some kind of swap.
  4. It just opened okay for me, and I opened a thread in it okay, too.
  5. I have a '68 conversion on my final Modelhaus order. Not my favorite year of Chevelle, but I'll need one just for completeness' sake. It'll be red with black vinyl top. I think the one in the showroom brochure was that way.
  6. There might be something wrong with me, but I like this!
  7. Very nice! I've built two of these and found their bodies at least as accurate as any 1/25 Sting Ray kit ever done. You got a great finish with that white paint, too!
  8. You have a much better eye than I do. To me, "White is white," and I use Model Master Classic White for all of it--with the exception of Ford Wimbledon white, which is notably OFF-white, with a hint of yellow or cream in it.
  9. When I get around to building mine, it's prolly gonna be Tahoe Turquoise. Testor has a little-bottle metallic Teal that's a passably good match. Are you planning to fix the roof on yours? There's something not right about the shape of the C-pillars, or the rear windows, or something. I haven't quite figured out exactly what the problem is but I know that every time I see this kit built, that area jumps out at me as not looking right. I really like the assjacked look of the one in your pic, though of course it's a long way from stock. I'll prolly do mine something like that, too, though maybe not as severe. BTW, my alltime favorite car of my parents' was their '68 Impala in a dark green--I think it was called Sequoia Green? They didn't have it long--it got damaged in a freak accident and they replaced it with a white '69 with green vinyl top, which I never liked nearly as much. That DG '68 was just straight-up badass looking!
  10. Main thing to remember when building the AMT '69 Chevelles is to remove the lower body chrome molding, which is correct for a '68 SS or a '69 Malibu but NOT for a '69 SS396.
  11. I don't remember the exact name but you're right, it was invented by a lone hobbyist modeler who IIRC put MPC 1/20 engines in some AMT 1/43 cars. I hope he got a handsome payday from MPC when they brought the concept to market.
  12. Very clean build!
  13. Looks like someone was shooting at it with 12 gauge slugs!
  14. Paint it black and it would be close enough for me!
  15. I'll buy another one of those Vettes just for the wheels and Stinger hood.
  16. I've been having good luck lately working with Tacky Glue. It seems a little more adhesive than Elmer's.
  17. Fabulous score, congratulations! If it were mine I'd use the '68 body for a stock conversion of the common '69 kit, and then adapt the common '69 body for the HUG. But that's just me.
  18. Very nice--you're off to a great start. This is a great kit, and one that hasn't gotten the love it deserves. I've done both the full-detail and the promo/snapper version of the coupe. Doing the roadster, you're dodging the coupe's one minor flaw, which is the roof is a bit taller than it should be. (It's meaty enough to work down to a shape that's closer to correct.) Coincidentally, Brett, while looking in the Snakepit the other day for your '67 Vette wheels, I came across a NIB kit of the the '72 roadster I didn't even know I had. Might have to build that one too sometime soon!
  19. Revell should reissue this one. Isn't it about time? And didn't they have a Maseratti in the same line? If they came around again, I'd buy one of each and give them a go. I have the Jag and the Ford GT40 from the same series, but no particular urge to build either at this particular time.
  20. Yeah, I know, but just last summer I bought a very restorable original--not a reissue, an original with the original correct '69 interior--for $15. They're around, and they're nowhere near as rare as, say '69 or '70 GTXs.
  21. I like the Deuce better than the fat-fendered thing.
  22. That's exactly what I was going to suggest.
  23. That's good chassis weathering, similar to what I do. I just mix some light gray and some tan in Testor Dullcoat and lay it on thin until I get it where I want it.
  24. Kinda sorta basically, I think, if you're not too picky about it. You'll have to take the side trim and emblems off, but that's easier than putting them ON. Frankly, for a '69 RR, I'd rather hunt for a JoHan, since they're still commonly available, even if the price is getting up there. (The last one I bought was around 2010, and I think I paid $35 for it. That's not a glue bomb, that was a complete, mint, unbuilt, still-sealed '80s-reissue kit.)
  25. I recently read a review of it in an old mag and it agreed with you. It sounded just gawdawful. I have the '74 Firebird and it doesn't look TOO bad in the box. Worse comes to worst I can bash the body onto a Monogram '78 chassis.
