  1. I see the problem with that immediately: The local hobby shop is never going to have the version YOU want when you need it, only the other one.
  2. The Boss, Glory Days.
  3. That sounds like a plan--swap the front fenders between the Revell '55 and '56 bodies, then do whatever's necessary to put the '56 taillights on the '55 body. Then all you have to do is finish BUILDING the stupid old Revell '55. Which in and of itself is just WAY too much work for me at my advanced age. The upside is, with the leftover parts you should be able to build a '55 sedan. That is, if you manage to get hold of a '56 body that's actually straight and buildable. Which I haven't seen from Revell in decades.
  4. I'm looking forward to this, too. Thinking of doing a spare '57 Vette body as a salter, slamstyle.
  5. Not that simple. The doors and rear fenders (quarters) are different between the HT and sedan. They're basically different cars from the cowl/windshield back. (And the windshield might be different, too, I dunno.)
  6. Same was true with their Pro model airplanes. They didn't sell at the higher price point. Couple years later you could score them at places like Big Lots and Ollies, sometimes for less than their "standard" issues.
  7. That would be great but how much would that add to the price of the kit? $5? $10?
  8. Still one of my Alltime Top Ten Favorite Videos. Whatever happened to Kay Lenz, anyway?
  9. Don't forget that '56 Corvette can be easily converted from a '57--MPC, AMT, or Monogram.
  10. I think Model Car World does a '66 2-door 300 (sedan) body.
  11. I'd rather have decal emblems than weak molded emblems that disappear under paint and NO decals. Much better yet would be bold, strong molded emblems AND decals as an option. As for Revell eventually doing a RS, I'm not hopeful about that. Not only is the shape of the grille wrong, the cavity in the body is wrong (to match it), too. They can do an RS grill but unless they fix the body to match, it's going to be just as badly shaped as this one is. I'm sticking with my plan of using a Modelhaus AMT annual '67 repop grille, and reworking the body as necessary to fix it (which shouldn't really be that hard).
  12. Exactly what I was about to post! I'm really, really hoping to get at least ONE of these things built this year!
  13. I think the wheel in your pic is much bigger than 15". Looks like 18" or so to me, I dunno. Now, are you looking for a wheel like this in a 15" size, or in a larger size?
  14. 67airvair, could we see some more pics of that green one? Hard to tell from the pic but it looks like you've done something interesting with the roof.
  15. Most of mine built about the same time looked similar. I still have many of them. Some have been stripped for rebuilding, but some are just as I built them, and I hope to "restore" a few more of them very soon. Might try to do one this weekend, if I get the time and the mood strikes me.
  16. I bought a can of the Tree House clear today. Sprayed a nice wet coat on a previously painted test spoon. It looked magnificent! An hour later, after drying, it had shrunk quite a bit, had a little orange peel and had lost about half its gloss. I laid a second wet coat on this. Again nice and shiny, but again after drying, it wasn't nearly as shiny. I can't confirm it's the same stuff as Krylon Crystal Clear but I can't discount the possibility, either. The can I tried SEEMS to work a little better than the Krylon but nowhere near the pics the OP posted. The smells of the two paints are similar. Not sure if identical or not. I'll use the stuff, on something. I was hoping for Testor Wet Look Clear in a big cheap can, and it doesn't look like this is that.
  17. Here's a couple build reviews of that kit, which might or might not be helpful to you. http://www.modelingmadness.com/review/allies/us/cleaverp40b.htm http://www.modelingmadness.com/review/allies/us/jacksonp40b.htm
  18. The roof is different, as are the doors and the rear fenders. The hardtop and the sedan are almost different cars. Just a couple years ago I built the Mono HT for a guy on commission. It wasn't too bad a kit, for as old as it is. Of course it's 1/24. Only other way I can think to get a '56 HT would be to kitbash the old Revell '55 and '56 kits together. Or maybe you can see if someone has done an inexpensive diecast of a '56 HT.
  19. I don't believe so.
  20. Billy Joel, You May Be Right Cream, White Room?
  21. On another forum, I'm famous for this quote: "In the six thousand years of recorded human civilization, no one has ever gotten laid because he had the best detailed wheel wells at the Model Airplane Club meeting."
  22. Thun-der-BAAAAAAAAAAALLL! Tom Jones. Best Bond song ever
  23. I see someone else just got the new American Handgunner issue in the mail!
  24. Let me warn you: It takes some getting used to. You might have trouble focusing, or getting your two eyes and your brain to "coordinate" the picture for a while. But don't give up on it. After a few hours, your eyes and brain will learn what to do and will be able to adjust to it instantly every time you put it on--even if you haven't used it for a while.
  25. I only ever saw that tire on the annual Corvairs and the original Get Smart Sunbeam Alpine. I know it was NOT in the AMT '66 Mustang kits (those had the Firestone Supremes). Pinto makes sense. What Novas--the pre-'66 ones?
