  1. I do custom engine work......... PM with what you might have in mind, I also cast my own parts as well!
  2. WELL HEY there ole Falla. how goes it over here! I too would LOVE to see the engine pics and other things thats been changed! You got my attention!
  3. That is so cool..... gives a whole new menaing to short bus. BUT its VERY well done! The hackin outthe windows and making the doors open I bet was a task in itself! To bad you couldn't have had 2 of them and made it just a tad longer.....AWESOME work tho!
  4. dimaxion, Mopar engines from the 273, 318, 340, and 360 were ALL "LA" engines, the meaning of "LA" from Mopar was "Light A". Light A being a lighter weight version of the Mopar "A" engines prior to the LA and RB engine types. To go into it further the A engines a lot of times were "Poly-Head" engines, which were really bulky and heavy designs.....ALL of the Poly-Head engines could have been fitted with Hemi-heads as well of the time making them a bit more performance engines. This insues to go to the demise of the A engines when the lighter counter part came about of the "LA" type. These engines ALL had their distributors in the rear to the drivers side of the cam/block center. Standing in front of the car, this would be to your right of block center. Now you speak of the big block Mopars, they were the "B" type blocks, standard deck height, B for Big Block.....These engines were as follows: 350, 361, 383. THEN another change happened so that these "B" engines could be made to bigger cubic inch displacements. They were a Raised Block, or "RB" engine types, they were as follows as well: 383, 400, 413, 426, and 440. ALL the mentioned B and RB engines were WEDGE-HEAD engines. The normal type. You then had the off-shoot, of the 426 Wedge, that became the basis to the 426 Hemi, the Hemi-Heads were to be bolt on accessories to this block as the 426 Wedge for the time '63, was maxed out with the design of it called the 426 Max-Wedge. SO in all reality, the 426 Hemi truly is a "RB" blocked engine! They just kept building upon it to go as far as the 540 Cubic inch monster.....For a single block casting, it done well considering the block from the 426 could be stroked and bored to the 540. These B and RB engines ALL had their distributors to the front passenger side of the cam/block center, on an angle. Standing in front of the car, this would be to your left, of block center on about a 45 degree angle! Just my 2 cents worth
  5. I'm not all that familar with Ross Gibson, but I got to ask, anyone know how old he may have been? I'm sure he will be missed no less!
  6. I can say here, I've used the Alclad paint Chrome, and use a REAL good gloss black base coat before applying it, and if its sprayed through an air brush it turns out "chrome" if its BRUSHED on (it turns out CHROME). BUT DO NOT listen to those saying to use any other color for the base, it REFLECTS this color, the same way a mirror is made! When brushing to apply it, remember to do a really good gloss black coat first allow to dry, THEN get a bigger bristle brush, dip into the Alclad, and basically "dab it onto the part, IT WILL "puddle" this is NORMAL. leave it! IT WILL NOT "dry" the way that looks and will come out "chrome" when it dries almost like a plating does! ALLOW IT TO CURE..... THEN gloss clear coat OVER IT, this will SEAL in that shine like Chrome plating! Hope this helps. BE SURE tho, GLOSS BLACK, NOT Flat, Flat black will make the Chrome come out looking more like an unprotected Aluminum.... Gloss blue, will have a anodized blue aluminum look to it.....
  7. NICE work! AND its a right hand drive truck! Has that look about it too.. NICE job! Love the color and the location of the mirrors!
  8. Well nice work is nice work by any other way of saying it! Where'd you find the weights in the front? I'd consider something as such but a little different but thats only because of the limited models I can get so....I'm envious of the straight bed Dodge tho!
  9. Vince that turned out GREAT! Any close up shots of the engine? LOVE the straight bed on these... I want to locate just a bed to one of the 70's Dodge pick ups....
  10. sadly I can't even VIEW the pictures! What gives? Is this engine STILL being made?
  11. NICE work, How'd you manage the silver fins on the black valve covers? I got a few I'd like to do the same with, BUT I'm pondering if someone might have a better way to do it! Me, I thought to paint the bare plastic, silver lacquer enamel OR leave them chrome, allow if painted allow to cure completely, and then, lightly mist paint the whole things with water based Acrylic enamel, so that I can use something to quickly wipe off just the tops of the fins on the ones I have planned to do. My biggest issue doing this, is what do you use to wipe them off with? Water or alcohol on a Q-tip? anything else better then that?
  12. I've ALWAYS liked this model seems to always go together well, BUT I wish they "Revell" or even Monogram would offer it with something OTHER then the 426 Hemi....Don't get me wrong I love the Hemi.... I just think this particular model could stand a different power plant....
  13. NICE work so far, but not to be a knit-picker, butthe engines wrong! The model used is a 426 Hemi, and the real engine distributor outto be in the front, on the passenger side of the kit, on an angle......... the valve covers is the reason, they're the odd-ball looking Hemi ones from the 426 to 540, Generation 2 Hemi's.....The way its set now, would be Generation 1 Hemi's, '51 to '58.....The 426 didn't come into play till '64, and not "streeted" till '66, and ran in production till '71...... The first generation Hemi's the distribultor was in the back as you have it, the second generation Hemi's was in the front just like that from a Mopasr Big Block.....The current one "3rd generation" are electronic, the 5.7L the 6.1L, and the 6.2L and the 6.4L of today... GREAT scratchbuilding tho, the wood grain will look AWESOME when painted!
  14. Another question, the orange you mentioned that you've seen on Chevy engines, WHAT shade of orange did you go withthe overcoat the black? Just wondering due to my "Mopar" building nature.......I use A LOT of "Testors" brand enamels, and with that they have a few different shades of Orange.... Myself? "28107 Hemi Orange" in the 3 ounce spray can goes on ALL Hemi engines, UNLESS I'm painting the engine to match the car its to go into.... I also use the Hemi Orange for the applications Mopar used it on OTHER-then Hemi engines, in a few different cases! They also used what they called Mopar High Performace Orange, and a good match to that, is "1113 Sunburst" Orange also from Testors. WHEN I had built Chevy models, or GM models for that matter, and the engines were to be orange, I used the Testors regular brand "1127 Orange", which is a much lighter orange almost a "Hugger Orange" shade.... The different shades of orange on the engine will look GREAT for a weathering technique!
  15. My next trip to Hobby Lobby, and I'll be lookingfor this one! That looks AWESOME hows it work for wet sanding? Have ya tried it yet? MADE that body on that Challenger look GREAT!
  16. Not often you see a "Stock" version of this truck, and rarely even more so, one done this nice! Thats show room floor look right there!
  17. Like all has said so far, NICE WORK! The underside, is it 4x4? LOOKS GREAT even if not!
  18. VERY nice work! NOW, this is one I need to find, atleast the body, frame, and interior.....
  19. I WOULD LOVE to make a mold of this engine seen here...............WOW if not the whole thing, just the heads and valve covers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!
  20. Thanks Mike, I contacted him on it......... What he done to that A100 looks AWESOME!
  21. Looks great! My only complaint isn't with your work 1 its the model itself! Not something you can easily change tho. BUT as a 440 or well anything Mopar "Big Block, 383 to 440, the heads and the valve covers don't even look like they should for such, BUT they do come close for a "After Market" part! But then they ought to have chromed them! Only the factory ones, were "painted" and not chrome......
  22. The "Deora" was NEVER a production model in real life! It was a custom truck done by the Alwexander Brothers from a '64 Dodge A100 truck plateform! Production Dodge Deora? MAY have been a great idea! I'm building a model of this and that yellow they painted it WTH ugly!? I LIKE the Sassy Grass Green one someone done! I making mine Mopar Turquoise (like the engine color) slightly lightened with a black center stripe with the "silver" one down the center of the black!
  23. A set of custom "Braided" headers, made from what looks to be solder, and on a Hemi, this is my kinda model and a GREAT modeler to make that all happen. LOVE the work on the fenders man!
  24. I love how that A100, has the '68 Charger grill in it!!!!!! That looks AWESOME any more on this model?
  25. Engine come with the model? GREAT WORK no-less! The Hemi looks killer! I got to ask, the decal Hemi "Deck Stripe" where'd you find that?
