Eddie Van Halen dies from throat cancer.
SfanGoch replied to Brutalform's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
New York City street artist Adrian Wilson, paid tribute to Eddie Van Halen in the most clever way, turning the Van Siclen Avenue subway stop in Brooklyn into “Van Halen Avenue”. -
Hugh betcha, Hugh! Those dual blade strip cutters are something one might never need but great to have, just in case.
-
You make too many assumptions, Mike. Many, if not all, have been refuted.
-
You know Mike, it seems like more than just coincidence that keyser commented that you called me out a full 13 hours before you even posted that just 48 minutes ago. A little bit of behind-the-scenes collusion, maybe? If one bought a particular kit, one should be able to figure out which company made it. The info is on the box, instructions and even major parts like the body. Reread the replies. What was or wasn't available in Revell Impalas was posted. Is it the forum norm that everyone is to be treated like a mental patient by treading lightly for fear that anything that smacks of humor or directness could set them off or hurt their feelings? Many of us have faces some real adversity in our lives and were able to survive. I seriously doubt that reading a reply written in a blunt manner, or looking at a meme poking fun at a comment, will have negative effect. The OP took it all as good-natured ribbing. The only ones who took issue with anything that I, or others, posted were other members who have selective amnesia about their own past comments and remarks over the years.

I'm not going to parse your sense of humor. Ryan thought it was funny. He's the only person whose opinion matters.
-
He's a big boy and will get over it. Bluntness never killed anyone.
-
The only Impalas made by Revell were 1958,1959, 1960, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966, 1994/1996 notwithstanding.

Got Tamiya TS Spray blown to my eyes, should I worry about it?
SfanGoch replied to 花火's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Common sense will prevent this from reoccurring.......don't spray paint on a windy day. -
Sure you have. You get a valuable lesson in sycophancy. Scrutinize the comments in "WIP" and "Under Glass" more closely. It's a mutual adulation society meeting with zero constructive criticism and so much o' back slapping that you'd think you're listening to Johnny Ray Hubbard pounding on an upright bass. Alleged adults of this generation are emotionally incapable of taking constructive criticism for what it is. They've been conditioned to believe that it is an outright insult on their character to be told that whatever they did wasn't the epitome of perfection and could have been better accomplished. Honesty is strictly prohibited.
-
Who cares what adjectives are used as descriptors? It's not like we're having a Victorian-era tea parlor discussion about women's ankles. As alleged adults, we should be able to handle the use of creative language to describe something without being over-sensitive. None of the terms/expressions used were in any way disparagingly directed at a human and I'm sure that steel wheels, rims and tires couldn't care less.

What non-auto model did you get today?
SfanGoch replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
It's like a Hs 129 with treads. -
That is a myopic point of view. The "hobby" encompasses much more than just model cars. There are plenty of youths involved in the hobby in general, just not in the model car segment in particular. Lack of variety is why they choose other categories of modeling. This particular niche of the hobby, judging by the average age of the membership here and other model car fora, is the refuge for those curmudgeons. Maybe you enjoy building the same few dozen or so cars ad nauseam; there are modelers who prefer the hundreds of different aircraft, armor, sci-fi or ship kits available. Car modelers wet their pants at the mere announcement of models old enough to qualify for AARP membership and that is enough to make them happy. Cool, whatever floats your boat. The younger generation is much more sophisticated in their tastes and expectations as to what they want in a model. Unfortunately, car models don't seem to cut the mustard, big wheels and skinny rubber notwithstanding.

I know that this would be a reissue. What annoys the hell out of me is when somebody post a cryptic picture like this with no further information with which to place it in proper context. After all, this is the "Car Kits & Reviews" section, not the cool box art forum.

Forgot to post a pic of the Rye Field Model Sturmtiger w/interior All four are excellent kits, Ray. After years of building empty shells, all of the new kits with full interiors are a breath of fresh air. -
And, that's it?!? No other information on tentative rerelease? Nothing else except a picture of a box? Posts like this are a waste of people's time.

At least the '70s had Hemi 'Cudas and the Ramones.
