    One's experiences in a particular locale doesn't mean the same, or similar, elsewhere. It's a documented fact that vehicles driven on the streets of New York City are subjected to more damage due to the poor condition of the roads compared to anything encountered in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. In addition to damaged rims and suspensions, the low ride heights account for not a few torn up front and rear fascias caused by said vehicles bottoming out in large potholes or hitting loose boiler plates covering street excavations. The repair shop near me has a lot full of cars exhibiting these types of damage.

    If one enjoys the similarity to driving on bare rims, experiencing every teeth chattering bump and pothole on the road, big goofy wheels and low profile tires are just the thing. I've seen plenty of bent rims and blown out lo-pros here. If that happens, what do you see the driver putting on........a steel wheeled donut spare because a bozo rim won't fit in the trunk. When it comes to either form or function, form loses every time.

    They are if the rims look like giant thread spools with black magic marker lines for tires. At least the spoked rims found on autos which they were originally designed for are aesthetically pleasing and fit within the design of said vehicles and they aren't even within the same category or types being discussed. What you're attempting to do is conflate this discussion by entering into evidence an example which is, according to Perry Mason, irrelevant, incompetent and immaterial.

    You're right. Make a mold of the left pillar. When the mold is rotated so the top is at the bottom. it would be a mirror image of the right side. Place the rotated mold over the right side pillar and fill the area where the missing section is with resin or get one of those acrylic nail sets with the powder and resin and use that.

    It's a frame of mind not dissimilar to that possessed by food snobs and other cliquish pseudo-elitists who think they are the last word on any subject. It's the "I listened to that band before they became cool" attitude, the more arcane their alleged knowledge, the more important it must be.

Just because this isn't your particular cup of noodles doesn't mean someone else won't find it interesting. Renwal/Life-Like/Lindberg anatomical kits were extremely popular too.

    I'll assume that you don't have another AMX body just laying around. That precludes you from from: 1. trashing it in order to cut a chunk from its A pillar to fix this one 2. making any kind of silicone mold of an intact RH A pillar Just fabricate a new one using styrene strip. It's a lot easier than you might think.

    Fixed. Yawn.......welcome to the world of lowered expectations. This is what's pathetic about this particular segment of the model building hobby. We're supposed to get giddy about the rerelease of a toy-like, minimum parts count, 57 year old kit.

    So....what were you expecting to happen with the former Kenner factory, preserve it as a landmark? You make it sound as if using the land to construct housing is a bad thing. It's not like another obscenely huge box store or cookie cutter shopping mall is replacing it.
