The one who told Tom that it was his right to attend a model show and complained about NNL East being cancelled. Ron, LIARS had already announced that this year's show is cancelled. Read it HERE.

That guy shouldn't be allowed to purchase solvents.

Unlike other parts of the country where "the problem which nobody wants to mention" is still infecting people who refuse to follow basic preventative measures like wearing masks and practicing social distancing to prevent new surges from reappearing, New York is doing the right thing by banning large gatherings at this time. At least we've got it somewhat under control, no thanks to the morons who think they're invulnerable. Don't endanger other peoples' safety because you think this is some hoax. The number of deaths around the country say otherwise. Unfortunately, the customers in the cheap seats don't understand that, Tom.

What non-auto model did you get today?

So what? Playboy was mentioned. I don't recall you saying anything about that. Nor did you point that out about Twilight Zone Magazine or Omni.

Nobody wants to admit that they actually read Mad Magazine, which probably had a greater influence than they would care to acknowledge.

SfanGoch replied to afx's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
That's nuthin'. Some clown dropped $595K at Sotheby's for a six buck plastic crown belonging to Notorious B.I.G. Notorious B.I.G.’s plastic jeweled crown from iconic photo sells for $595K at NYC auction -
I found this version of "Willie the Weeper/Willie the Chimney Sweeper" by Ernest Rodgers, recorded in 1927. Listening to his vocals and guitar playing, it's hard to believe this recording is almost 100 years old. "Willie the Weeper" is an old vaudeville song written in 1904. It tells the story of Willie, a dope addict, and his drug-fueled dream. Considering that the song was written 116 years ago, this is a pretty graphic song about drug addiction.

My point wasn't that the audiences share similar viewing tastes. It's that both types of shows just fill timeslots regardless of the quality of the content.

"History" is just the network name and doesn't accurately describe the content any longer. History Channel wasn't originally conceived to broadcast low info junk like those programs. These types of programs are right at home sandwiched in between Jerry Springer and Maury Povich on the TV listings to go along with the 4506 court and trash talk shows polluting the airwaves and cable channels. Unfortunately, this is the state of our society and culture today.

Anybody used this chrome paint?
SfanGoch replied to jchrisf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You get what you pay for. Molotow is an ink and isn't anywhere near as durable as these Alsa Easy Chrome clones are. -
Looking for info on aircraft modeling...
SfanGoch replied to seanyb505's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Glom through the listings from a Google search and pick the sites you find interesting. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=model+aircraft+forums As Rich mentioned, Hyperscale is an excellent site, along with Aeroscale ARC and Britmodeller. Personally, I would suggest that you not bother with Fine Scale Modeler fora. The site layout sucks big time. -
Break even? The ad revenues these shows generate keep them deep in green.

Nothing will ever happen except that they'll always come thisclose, only to end up with ungatz at the end of each episode. This is a common string-the-viewer-along gimmick used by similar shows, such as the ones about Sasquatches, Aliens and Nazi Gold to keep you coming back for more. ?

Mattel VacuForm guidance?
SfanGoch replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you have a dental unit, the 4"x 8" sheets aren't going to work. Here is the link for the Vac-U-Form upgrade parts . You can also check ebay for the clear sheets. If the hand pump isn't providing enough vacuum, you can attach a vacuum cleaner hose to the tube at the bottom of the machine. -

Gene Rodenberry described Star Trek as a "space Western" I thought of the show in the same way watching it as a kid. Rodenberry had a background in television Westerns, writing scripts for Have Gun - Will Travel, Bat Masterson and others; so, it wasn't a stretch to incorporate Western-style storylines into Star Trek, too.

Tom Seaver, the Greatest N.Y. Met player, dead at 75
SfanGoch posted a topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
This is a really sad day for Mets and baseball fans everywhere. Tom Terrific truly was "The Franchise". Mets and the baseball world mourn the death of Tom Seaver -
I highly recommend Revell enamel and acrylic paints. I have about 150 tins of Revell Email (enamel) paints that I bought in Germany back in the early 1980s and they're still good. They are similar to the old Humbrol enamels. One coat covering, with little to no brush strokes, with a brush and they also airbrush well. I also have about two dozen containers of the Aqua Colours acrylic paints I purchased from modelsforsale.com. These acrylic paints are not what most are accustomed to when you think of acrylic model paints. They are fairly viscous, similar to artist acrylic paints in tubes. That said, I like them. Thin them with water, alcohol or acrylic paint thinner from any other manufacturer. Airbrushing is great. They level well and don't hide details.
