Your comment was specifically about ITC, which was Ideal Toy Company. ITC refers to the entire company, not just the ITC/Model Craft division; therefore, in terms of sales, it was one of the Big Three toy companies, regardless of how you wish to parse it.
-
It certainly was, Mark. Ideal Toy Company, in its heyday during the 1960s through the mid 1970s, was one of the top three U.S. toy companies, behind Marx and Hasbro.

13 years on MCM, & 10,000 post

Start a GoFundMe page to cover the cost. It seems to be a popular way to do business lately. -
Pegasus Hobbies has the Lighting Kit in stock for $150. So does CultTVman. Snag one up fast because you won't find MOE 2097 at this price often. You will not achieve anywhere near the same lighting effects using LED strips as you would with the dedicated lighting kit. The TenaControls LED Sequencer with Top Dome Rotating Board costs almost as much as the Moebius Lighting Kit; but, that's only for the fusion core and dome lighting. You'd have to add the interior lighting yourself.

Thoughts on Promo Kit Restoration
SfanGoch replied to doorsovdoon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Personally, I wouldn't waste money on pre-1962 promos. They are made from cellulose acetate, which will continue to warp and shrink as the resins used to manufacture this plastic evaporate. Cellulose acetate cannot be bonded or properly repaired using solvents. Even if you use epoxies, there still remains the persistent problem of shrinkage and warping over time. -
Atlantis Models has bought another lot of tooling/molds.....
SfanGoch replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The modeling hobby universe, nostalgic or modern, doesn't revolve around cars. Automotive kits, when viewed in the bigger picture, are more of a small time niche than any of them "weird and wacky" kits Atlantis produces. There is a large market for these kits; otherwise, Atlantis wouldn't spend its money obtaining the molds. Check out the prices that those original kits are sold for. That's pretty much what members here say in every "I wish Round2 would reissue (fill the blank space with your favorite 60+ year old SMP/AMT car kit)" thread. -
Doug's A block polys are very detailed and I highly recommend them.

I should have been specific. It was the Trumpeter box art to which I referred. -

Those are the usual suspects who end up balking on actually putting their money where their collective mouths are after they see what they'll actually pay for a kit. There are more than a few who think 30 bucks is too much for a 1/24-1/25 kit. Imagine trying to extract perhaps upwards of $150 out of their wallets for a new tool large scale model kit. -

"FORD" is clearly visible on the stripe. -

REAL Sharpie permanent markers contained toluene and/or xylene. That's what the solvent smell was. Toluene/xylene do affect styrene by causing it to craze. Styrene was etched by the old Sharpies. It was the same effect with original formula Floquil enamel paints which, if you remember, required the use of a barrier coat to protect styrene surfaces from damage. The formula for Sharpies was changed to a more environmentally-friendly, and less permanent, alcohol-based type. What passes as Sharpie permanent markers today is not in the same league, as far as actual permanence is concerned, when compared to the old formula variety. -

I know. I am making an assumption on my part since it has been previously mentioned on this board that the Revell Mopars were lacking those very items. It shouldn't be too much of a stretch to think Atlantis will do the same for these kits. -

Bingo! However, not similar, it's the same. $14-16 for a pint, depending from where you buy it. I use the Sci-Grip version from IPS. Every modeling-specific brand people mention (Tenax, Ambroid, etc.) is nothing more than generic methylene chloride packaged in 1 oz. bottles and sold at a premium. -
Great. Old saying comes to mind, "Don't bite off more than you can chew." You chose to operate a business and readily accept money from customers in exchange for products and/or services. They, in turn, expect a reasonable delivery of the items which they purchased. Forcing a customer to wait for an indeterminable length of time is absolutely unacceptable, regardless of the products quality. Nobody wants to hear that you have a real job, family, etc. All of that is, as they say on Perry Mason, irrelevant, incompetent and immaterial.

Z-7 Debonder has been available for years and you guys don't know about it?!? It's made as a gel for precise application and doesn't run.

1. It's the former, not the latter. 2. The Lindberg chassis are comprised of separate suspension and exhaust components and are highly detailed. Johan chassis have molded in components and very soft detail in comparison. The Lindberg/AMT Mopar chassis are used as replacements for the Johan parts because of the superior detail. 3. Wrong. Lindberg/AMT interior tubs, unlike Johan's, are detailed multi-piece assemblies, even possessing separate door panels, seats and even arm rests. 4. Out of my area. Perhaps someone else better versed in NASCAR will provide that information. 5. See number 2. 6. None that I can think of; although, others might.

Expectations override reality. This is like people planning to spend lottery winnings before even buying any tickets. Stop foaming at the mouth and wait. -

"Rat Patrol" can be seen Saturday nights 10-11 P.M. on Heroes & Icons Channel. The jeeps used in the show were Willys MBs, not BRC 40s. BRC 40s were only used by Britain and USSR under Lend-Lease.
