  1. You could have used a stainless scriber, like these from UMM-USA (the scribers in the upper right and left are perfect for this) to remove the hood and trunk trim. These scribers have a .003" kerf, meaning only the minimum amount of plastic is removed. I've had to remove the hood trim from the grille of a Johan '68 Fury Police Car and it came off smooth as silk.
  2. I'm not in the lunatic fringe; but, I would buy them. I have the Revell MetalFlake Plymouth Fury and Dodge Dart kits. Both are decent kits and the bodies compare favorably, dimensionally and detail-wise, with the respective Johan Hardtops. Besides, I don't feel like paying big simoleons for Johan kits on the bay if I could get a reasonably priced alternative.. I plan on using the chassis/suspension, interior tubs and engines from the Lindberg Mopars, which BTW, fit the Revell bodies nicely; so, the less than spectacular underpinnings aren't a concern.
  3. That tactic is banned under both the Hague and Geneva Conventions.
  4. Snagged two Toshiba Satellite laptops, an A105-S4004 with Win XP MCE, non-functioning keyboard and an allegedly bad hard drive and an A105-S4384 with a cracked LCD screen and a broken DC jack. I paid $60 bucks for both. I'm partial to cheap. I replaced the keyboard from a dead donor and used Darik's Boot and Nuke 1.0.7 to erase the drive on the S4004; then, using a Toshiba Recovery and Applications DVD, reset it to factory fresh condition. I installed a custom Win XP version and it functions perfectly. I replaced the broken screen and jack with the one from the donor on the S4384, nuked the HD, reloaded the factory presets and also gave this one a custom XP installation.
  5. That type of sausage hero is great, Tom. I grab them at the various Italian feasts in Brooklyn. The kind I made was ubiquitous around Manhattan when the Greeks had the monopoly on food carts up to around twenty years ago. No designer foods, just dirty water style Sabrett hot dogs and hot sausages, knishes, Italian sausage and good old soft pretzels covered in salt (tell the guy to put some spicy brown mustard on it and you are good to go). You can't find the Italian sausage anymore since the halal food carts started showing up. There are a lot of great eats I remember which aren't available anymore. I try to recreate them at home using my memories of how they looked and tasted. so, far, I've been successful in pulling it off. My next trick will be making an Ebinger's Blackout Cake. Haven't had one in almost 50 years. If you never heard of Ebunger's Blackout Cake, google it. It'll make you wish you were from Brooklyn.
  6. The pasta sounds better. I make my own sauces, heavy on the fresh minced garlic and basil.
  7. I made Italian sausage heroes in good old Noo Yawk City Greek Hot Dog Cart style. Large sweet Italian sausage grilled and split with lettuce, tomato wedges, sliced cucumber and raw onions topped with tsatziki, all loaded into a hero roll and ice cold Manhattan Special Espresso Soda to wash it down. URP!
  8. Did you try Resin Model Ranch?
  9. Twelfth post down from the top on Page 1.
  10. Tapioca futures will hit $465/mt by mid-December. The switchboard operator at Rustoleum tipped me off.
  11. Most of those items are no longer available. This is the latest Star Models resin list. The updated contact info is in the upper right of the page. The one you're looking for isn't available. Contact rob Andrews at Resin Model Ranch and ask him if he has the mold (he bought R&R Resin's masters) for it.
  12. I had this Lindberg T-Rex sitting around partially built for seven years. I figured it was as good a time as any to get it done. Painting was done with Vallejo Model Color acrylics.
  13. The Astros didn't just get beat. That was a curb job last night.
  14. Then, there's Snakefinger........
  15. Bah! Lonesome Dave couldn't duck walk during the guitar break.
  16. Ford vs Cadillac, by Chuck Berry. Greatest car song recorded.
  17. Hmmm.......what about groups with car names?
  18. That's the ca. 1971 Revell/Advent Baja Chopper/Baja Bug/Champion Spark Bug/Killer Bee. The kit number for the Killer Bee is 85-2144. There's a killer Bee kit available on ebay for $24.99 if you're interested.
