After being cancelled last year for obvious reasons, the local vintage club had a small show a couple of weekends ago. The numbers were much lower than usual but since it was organised at the last minute the turnout wasn't too bad. There were a few visitors cars that just happened to be in the area on holidays who were invited to join in. There are more pics of the cars here tractors here and motorbikes here . The extra pics at the links have front and rear views and a few detail pics. If you need to know what each of them are feel free to ask and I'll try and answer for the cars and tractors but I wont be able to help with anything on the bikes. There was an aston martin club visiting also but they turned up only to say the other cars weren't worth enough for them to waste their time so I refused to waste my time taking pics of their cars.

What do you do with your built kits?

Do you have a furniture recycling yard or simialr local? you might find some shelf units there that can be cut down. I say this cos the price of wood is really high in the uk now, gone up about 50% since last year and its only going to go up again. And ready made shelves will need less finishing work to make them look nice. -
Motor trend super models

I dont have a problem with him cutting up kits, he owns them so its up to him. Just the fact he's got a show about models is something to celebrate and it could very well bring more people into the hobby which can only be a good thing. Does it really matter what he builds if it inspires someone else to build? Its not like hes going into our stashes and using our kits, and detailed builds just wouldn't fit into one show so it could get kinda boring to the target audience which isn't us. I'm looking forward to seeing the show if it ever gets shown on this side of the pond -

is your attic insulated? if it is it will get very hot, even in the uk. I'm 150 miles from the artic circle and unless its been below freezing for a week the attic gets very hot so I expect it will be hotter in wales -
its worth a try mate, thanks

It sorta looks like a late 70s/early 80s full size car like a lincoln or something with the indicators on the sides of the fenders -

I can only display 40 or 50 in my cabinet so the ones I like most go in it and the others that have been it a while already go in their boxes and may end up being used for parts in other builds. As for selling built ups, I assume you mean ebay uk and tbh I wouldnt waste my time trying there as the ones Ive seen sell have 99p starts and people rarely pay more than a tenner unless its a rare kit, and those that put a higher start seem to sit for 6 months before quietly being deleted. There have been a few exceptions to that but I think most sell for parts. Built ups get a lot more on USA ebay -
Neat tip, thanks for sharing and being so clear in the description/pics. I'm sure most of us have all the stuff needed to do this in our tool boxes except possibly the punches

Up until 10 or so years ago I was an avid skateboarder, and during one week I ended up in a+e getting stitched up every day due to gravity winning. By the end of the week the docs and nurses just groaned and started calling me stitch

*1951 Chevy Drift Truck*
stitchdup replied to Zippi's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Its all about car control, speed has less to do with it than other forms of racing. If the other forms of racing are the car equivelent of running then drifting is the gymnastics or high bar. Also you might be surprised to learn they use part worn tyres in practice but in competition they have a very limited set of tyres available for the entire competition weekend (I think its 2) And its one of the cheapest and easiest motorsports to be a part of, you just need any rwd car with a welded diff and your good to go. Its also very cool to see the old japanese vids of 5 or 6 cars drifting narrow mountian roads while maintaining the same angles and speed as the lead car, so much control and it looks like they are doing ballet
