My friend is flying away on holiday today. I've already set up a practical joke on him. At the bottom of his bag I've put a fairly heavy rock so my plan is to be there to carry the bags out to the car so he gets called for further checks. Last time he went away I replaced every photo of him with me, and the time before I filled his toilet cystern and bath with jello and left a fake deposit. I'm sure he is expecting something this time.

It should work and if you did need to remove the material you could use sand inside the tubes

Which Beetle kit fits this criteria?

guess i'll have to scratch up a cooling system, revell didn't include it but it'll be a simple job -

this is the t3 engine on a bug pan. its for a bug van so i had to use it instead of the earlier engine for the lower profile. -

thats similar but its not a manx, it looks to be one of the many copies. the manx doesn't have such a pronounced dip between the wheels or the cut outs in the rear fender. -

you can find very basic versions of those engine in the revell t3 van and porsche 914 kits. The one from the t3 van fits the tamiya gearbox and is the same scale. I havent got the 914 but i beleive its 1/25 while the others are 1/24 -

the wheelbase on the tamiya bug is 100mm and its 60mm wide with the option to narrow a little more by trimming off the part under the running boards. The height of the engine once its fitted might be problem though since the rear of the body looks kinda low on your pic. Unfortunatelly I dont have any that I can measure that height on without taking a build apart. I'm going to guess it would be about 30mm from the ground on stock suspension and maybe 20mm from the frame. -
First you need to go into your message folder. Then if you look at the left of the page where your messages are listed, there is a box above it. If you click on it it will give you the option to highlight all your messages. You should see a blue tick appear next to all your messages. If you click on the blue ticks of the ones you wish to keep then look to about the lower middle of the page it should give you the option to delete the highlighted messages. This works for computers, I dont know if its the same from a phone

The tamiya beetle kit is th only one i know of with a correct type floor pan and has by far the bast detailed engine. The others have the rear arches molded into the pan. heres some pics of th tamiya pan. On these it has been slammed and the front axle narrowed -
I'm getting used to it, the last time i took on the council i saved everyone from having to buy new bins when the bin men destroyed them. I said the same thing then, my taxes paid for the bins and your guys destroyed them. why should we have to pay again? if something is already paid from my tax there is no way i'm going to pay twice.

It was kinda windy here last night. The local council had harris fencing on the pier to assist with cruise passengers and to stop them falling between the pier and boats. Due to the wind last night I took it upon myself to tie them down to the pier rails as the fencing was starting to get blown off the pier. Today they threatened me with fines for tampering with their property. I'll be fighting it and refusing to pay as i told them it was getting blown in the water and they did nothing about it. The way I see it my taxes paid for the fencing. They lost at least 25 panels of the fencing before i got it tied down and i saved the rest from being lost

Other Grilles for chevy vans, UHAUL body?
stitchdup replied to Hondamatic's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Is a u-haul body like the truck with a box on the back? If so theres an ambulance box available in resin -
I'd go for the arai 58 convertible if it was me. I've built the hardtop and the roof was a couple of mm too short and didn't fit the screen rail. Its also available in imai boxings as well as a few others. I think italeri or heller had it out within the last few years so that version might be cheaper than the japanese boxings

OK admit it, one of you bought tracy emin a welder didn't you?

What did you see on the road today?
stitchdup replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Happened upon a group of dutch volvo enthusiasts today. 2 amazons, a 18oos and a couple of 80s 240 wagons. I think one of the amazons might have been played with under the hood, its sounded strong -
Nice colour choices. You might be in for a small problem though with the rear firewall. There shouldn't be gap between the two pieces as it is the mount for the hood to the body and is very likelly to stop the body sitting down correctly, If you haven't glued it too solid you might be able to get it in line with a small amount of force and not damage your paint. I would hate to see such a small piece hold back your model when it looks so nice

Tamiya "no cement" instruction
stitchdup replied to Superfishyall's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Usually its just the steering part that links the wheels that dont get glued, i would expect everything else to be glued as the suspension itself doesn't look like it moves. It could be worth looking at other builds of the same kit to see how they did it. If its an older tamiya kit sometimes they had postcard size sheets included to amend steps in the instructions so there is the chance it may be missing
