  1. Cool build, i wouldn't worry too much about the intake, in the 1/1 world they cut the tubes and reshape them to fit each application and it looks like a couple of pie cuts will soon get it in place
  2. I'd go for the 16" volk six spokes, the others will be far too big for the wheel arches
  3. Its the same where I live. We generate every bit of our power from renewables (180% of our local needs from wind, wave and solar) and my bills have doubled in the last year, and they're going up again in october.
  4. Funnily enough, they are testing retrofitted electric engines in old brittan norman islander planes here too. I'm not sure how far along they are but these planes are the backbone for inter island flights here, and are coming on 70 years old. If they succeed I'd love to put one of the aircooled v8s they currently run in an old vw bus. http://sustainableskies.org/loganair-pioneer-island-hopping-electric-flight/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Fresson (sorry for a wikipedia link, just use the quoted sources rather than the article, lol)
  5. Ace, here's some links about the local to me set ups, https://www.emec.org.uk/facilities/hydrogen/ https://www.emec.org.uk/projects/hydrogen-projects/ I get to see a lot of the marine energy devices and some of them are quite interesting, with a lot of unique ideas. At the moment theres a canadian device being tested that has the possibilities of being one of the most powerful yet created. There is some of it that confuses me though, their building some offshore windfarms but they dont seem to want to fit any of the marine energy devices to the bases. To me it seems like a no brainer, mount marine devices in the bases and then each location can provide more power while saving on space
  6. very similar except ours are made by EMEC (european marine energy something) who test a large variety of marine power generating stuff. If you have marine energy machines near where you live they were all tested in orkney
  7. I can easily get some, its a local group thats heavily involved with marine energy that distribute them.

  9. The barndoor bus is very cool, I might have to chop up a revell now
  10. I tried to be kind to someone waiting on the pier. they asked to use the toilet on the boat as there are none on the pier. they shouted thanks and left in a hurry. checked the toilet after they left and they managed to block the toilet and flood the room with stinking human waste.
  11. the hydrogen facilities where i am all use solar and wind power. they are self contained units that dont plug into the grid so can be placed anywhere. most of them are the size of a small shipping container and can easily be mounted on a trailer. this size of facility is enough to fill up 25 heavy trucks a day and theres one that powers a ferry.
  12. There was a fire at a bus yard near london yesterday. They think it was a battery on an electric bus that exploded. london now has 70-80 less double decker buses as they have all been taken out of service today. So thats 2 major fires involving electric vehicles since january. My local buses, a ferry and a lot of heavy trucks use hydrogen and none of them have gone bang (yet)
  13. The volvo suv style wagons (x90) are popular with farmers where i live. Given how farmers treat their cars (just another tool) i'd say its a decent recommendaion.
  14. I missed that, looks like platz are getting a fair bit of my wages
  15. That looks pretty good, when they announced it i assumed it would be the r8 tool modified. I hope they didn't put the brakes in between the wheel halves again like on the r8 kits
  16. I tend to assemble the parts like engines and axles before painting as it looks better and lets you get rid of mold lines. I will paint some parts on the tree if they are easy to lose but if they are fitted on another part the same colour I will assemble them too. I also try to do all the pieces the same colour at one time to save time later. I only really use the manual for the engines as most of my builds are using parts from various different kits. Also I still use spray cans so doing multiple parts at the same time saves on paint. With an airbrush you waste less paint anyway so there is more chance to paint less parts at a time
  17. Man that boat is cool, it looks like it should be built in 1/1
  18. This turned up in my feed this morning. At first glance i thought it was a volvo p1800 but a second look and the screen is obviously from another car so I think it might be something done to look like like the volvo. I have no idea what it is except possobly a corvette or some japanese coupe.
  19. I recognise that green jetta in your first batch of pics, its one of the top vw show cars from about 10 years ago and there a lot of mods under that stockish body. I have numerous features on it.
  20. Nice looking nissan, I would love to see some pics in the sun as the paint you used really pops and has a nice flip to a pretty bright blue. I had a metro that colour about 20-25 years ago and i only bought it cos of the colour
  21. Didn't the golden sahara have a lot of very hi tec stuff for the era it was built? I'm sure i read somewhere about it having stuff we take for granted in our modern cars. It doesn't excuse what it looks like but i was under the impression thats what made it famous rather than the style
  22. Engine upgrades for the tamiya vw engines would be cool. things like a judson supercharger for the old school guys, twin carb set ups for street and drag and a turbo set up. I can happily send you a engine to work with and it may be parts you can sell on to others as there is a massive lack of early vw tuning parts
  23. I mostly listen to rap, but ac/dc is the music i grew up with bfore rap. My guilty pleasure is the spice girls, I took my little sister to see them live when she was ten and it was one of the best concerts i've been to
  24. I had a neighbour learning to play the pipes a few years ago. I moved
