stitchdup replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Since i'm not getting any time to build just now, i treated myself to a tv and second hand ps3. I would have got a newer playstation but i already have a heap of games for the ps3 -

Thats a pretty cool scooter. Like others have said I didn't realise they still made them. Enjoy it -
some recent arrivals. The 3 minis will be used to build my aunts ragtop and I needed the seats from one, the wheels from another and the top from the third. I think the laftovers will be used to build a modern take on the riley elf. Theres a pile more stuff from mac modellismo but I've not had a chance to get pics yet

Sweet dub, its nice to see a shiny one -
I remember arguing with my teacher in primary schoool that you only need to know all the letters in the alphabet, as long as you get them all it cant be wrong. She told my parents I was right but it made her job teaching me harder as she had to use a tick chart to check I got them all. It ended up being a bit of a game for us, I tried to say it in a different order every time. When I finished at secondary school she gave me a tick chart she'd saved as she kept stuff to give all her kids when they left school. Most got their first drawing from art, I got a tick chart

I dont know if they're that common in the usa but it seems every high street and shopping centre in the uk has at least one warhammer/citadel miniatures type shop. It might not be what we call modelling but it is being creative with plastic. I think we could get those guys interested in armour/military models as a lot of what they are building uses a fair pile of model parts and its not so big a leap from them to the military side of modelling

Please help with choosing aftermarket wheels
stitchdup replied to AlbertD's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Do you know the wheels you'd like? If you do someone on the forum might have a set they can measure so you know if your tyres will fit. You can cut the front down but since its a small amount filing or sanding them down will be easier to control than cutting. A lot of the aftermarket rims will come with tyres too though like you say 16s are prewtty uncommon. I would look at uscp, scale production or diolex production for wheelsd and rims. they do a lot of porsche style rims in stock and custom sizes usually with tyre options for slicks or road tyres and have fittings for fitting them to the japanese made kits -
I've just finished watching the new Kevin Hart show from motortrend. It's quite enjoyable as a look at various forms of car culture in a very light hearted way, while doing some mods to their own cars. Lucky Costa plays a big part in the show and helping them out with what they want to do. It is an entertaining watch with them learning about their cars while trying out the different cultures. I dont want to spoil it for anyone thats not seen it yet but I found it enjoyable and I'm sure some of you will too.

Yes but most of the stuff they have is older trucks and military 1/24 just now,

Pretty cool build. I've passed on this kit a few times due to box art but seeing yours make me wish I hadn't

Does anyone know if usps do the same delays on sending the magazines internationally? I'm trying to figure out when mine will arrive
-
I like them both, its unusual to see american cars done with a mix of hotrod and japanese style but it works really well on these

I didn't think of that, I just used it to grab attention because it was more likelly to get looked at, lol

CITROEN TYPE H
stitchdup replied to CUSTOMBOY's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very cool -
The small engines all came out of older farms, and were used for electricity and powering farm equipment before mains electric happened. It might surprise some people how many still get used to power threshing machines on the islands that combined harvesters are too big for the boat on. Hard work but sometimes theres just not an option to do it any other way

I may have saved someone from hypothermia tonight. I work on a ferry as nightwatch and most nights theres nothing to do so I spend a lot of time just wandering around the boat. Tonight I was on the top deck looking back towards town and I thought I saw a very faint light below a some small cliffs on a shortcut locals take back to town from the aberdeen ferry. I flashed a torch at it and it started obviously flashing much brighter. I hummed and heyed for a few minutes trying to decide if I should call the cops so I waited ten mins while keeping an eye on the area. After a minute or 2 I decided I was best to call the cops as its better to call and be wrong rather than not call and be even wronger as I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if it was something wrong. I'm guessing I must have seen something as there are now 2 police cars and an ambulance near where I saw the lights and lots of activity.
