  1. Wow, I called Harold@HRM, super super nice guy. Him and Norm@Rep&Min are buddies! He's sending me a catalog.
  2. Just an update, I've decided to keep my current casting kit as for the price, it has way more use. Its a bit more work, like having to build a mold box but I'm in no hurry. Its a complete and thoruough kit and shoud prove very useful. I've other fromage that would be cool to cast so who knows. Here it's video;
  3. Killer, thanks Mike.
  4. The HRM kit is here; http://public.fotki.com/steelers43/historic-racing-min/untitled-20photo2-jpg.html Unsure which IDA/size but a breif descrition of the kit from various web site; 1/24 scale Engine Manifold Kit.Made to fit the Revell GT350 engine, and can be adapted to others. Contains 4 Weber carbs, 8 velocity stacks, intake manifold, fuel/waterlog dist, brass tube for venturi tubes and instructions. Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland has 1/24-1/25 Weber side and down draft kits, in 48 IDA I believe. No link but here is a description from there catalgue which I bought; PA-11A Side Draft; This is a nicely detailed Weber carb, similar to the kind you see on AC Cobra engines, thus it can also be used as a down draft Weber. The stacks are seperate pieces and are about scale 4" high. Another application would be on a straight 6 cylinder engine, where they would qualify as a side draft carb. We also provide a length of 1/32" brass "thin-wall" tubing for the venturi's inside the stacks. PA-11B Down Draft; This Weber is similar to the P-11A carbs, but a bit smaller. It can be used for side draft applications as well as down draft. The stacks are seperate pieces and are about scale 3" long. A length of 1/32" brass "thin-wall" tubing for the venturi's.
  5. Hi all, My vendor is telling me that they have no idea if and when they can get the HRM Weber kit. Would any one by chance know either; 1) How I can query HRM for an ETA on said kit? 2) Who would happen to have em on hand now? Perhaps as an alternaive, get the Webers from Norm@Replicas&Miniatures? He seems pretty accessable actually, really nice man as we spoke last week.
  6. Yep, thats what I was thinkin! Hope practise turns out like paper. My only stress point here is Hobby Lobby as I already opened the kit and messed with the clay. I didn't bother looking at videos until after opening it and should have done research prior. I would not have gotten this kit, it seems more of a real casting kit were the molds take 24 hours to cure where as the refernced video is more of an instant mold variety.
  7. Actually, not to sound flippant or dismissive but based on this video it looks pretty easy; Problem is I got the super casting kit and will look to exchange at Hobby Lobby. Its more of a process with it vs the kit referneced in the video. At any rate I will post my results and am doing it in 2 piece.
  8. Sorry for the confusion, I bought another kit so I have the parts on hand.
  9. Holy shyza minelly! I might forgo this for now. Thanks for the replies.
  10. Well, theoretlcally I could do 1 peice as the undercuts being on the inside won't be seen? In other words the inner surface is hiden from view. What do you think?
  11. Hi, So I was missing some parts from a newly purchased kit and thought to simply duplicate them. Yea, boy, what the hell did I get myself into?! At any rate, got my fancy shmancy Alumilte Super Cating Kit. Is the part below (A7 and A8) a one piece or two piece? Based on documentation in the kit, it sounds like this one would be one piece. Thanks in advance.
  12. I went on 1999.co.jp/eng to compare Mk1 vs MkII models. Check out the rear flares, looks way cooler on the Mk1. Plus you can get a killer engine for it from HRM. I see how its Mirage-esque as you all are saying. Too bad one can't get the LMM Mirage, it looks bitchen.
  13. Wow, killer info thanks dude. But, and seems there is always a but, those kits are big money. To me accuracy isn't worth the cost so if I build the B16, it will have a Ford Cosworth DVA engine. Bedises that car is soo cool looking that it should have a really beefy power plant
  14. Hi, I PM'd you. Thanks a lot for the replies.
  15. I just spoke to Norm at Rep&Min of MD and he never had a 4 banger. And it seems very hard to find a kit with this engine. Any one know which exact rally kit by chance had it so I can focus?
  16. Hi, Please excuse my many posts, but I iz a barny. At any rate, can I assume that a Fujimi GT40 68' LeMans winner Gulf Livery #9 is an Mk1? I can't find much on a #9 car but Wikipedia does say in 68' Mk1 cars were raced and won LeMans.
  17. Hi, Before I embark down this road, I was wondering what this incredable community thought of tire decals pertaining to rubber tires. My LHS thought that dry transfer look better but are harder to apply. Not to mention hard to find. The water slide veriety are easer to apply although more prep is needed on the rubber. I havn't tried either and am hoping for some advise as well as technique. Thanks in advance. Boy, it seems there is nothng easy about modeling. It requires a lot of skill, knowledge and experiance to be proper and I can't imagine a child doing it well. No wonder Revell came out with snap kits, it seems a great intro to eventual glue assembly.
  18. Cool info, thanks JB. I think I'm gonna call him.
  19. Wow, those kits are showing for big bucks on ebay, ~$85 and up. I've the Fall/2014 Rep&Min catalogue in hand, man what a mess, hard to find stuff. Hope the Cosworth/Lotus-Ford fromage are in there.
  20. Wow cool, thank guys. Yes I'll hit Rep&Min. Does any one have a current email addy for em? This one bounced; replmincomd@aol.com
  21. Hi afx, Nothing yet. Been eye balling a Chevron B16 for a future project. A bit ambitious at this point but its future stuff. Right now I've 3 projects going, first 4/5 done, second 2/3 done and the third is parts gathering/planning phase. The B16 will be like a few months down the road.
  22. Hi, Would anybody know were one would find a Ford Cosworth FVA or FVC engine in either stand alone or part of a kit? UPDATE; Anything between FVA-FVD which were producued between 1966-1975.
  23. Thanks KB, I picked up the kit at Hobby Lobby w/coupon! By the way, have you used Smooth-On mold release by chance? Is the Alumilite mold release as good as the Smooth-On?
  24. Hey, If you're in the Santa Monica area, check Evetts; http://evettsmodelshop.com/
  25. Hey Kit Basher, with the Alumilite, it seems one must buy the resin mix separate from the molding putty correct? I'm seeing this resin kit; http://www.ebay.com/itm/281352856869?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT And this molding kit; http://www.ebay.com/itm/301642902662?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
