Wow man, thats SIK! Those wheels are killer! Love the ride heitght to. What kind of wheels are those, like Porsche 962 wheels? Jim Hall is über cool.
-
Wow thanks XJ6 and Crazy Ed, I am stoked!
-
Hi Crazy Ed! Well, thats a good question. The body itself is simply buffed & polished, no paint. The kit has the air inrtake in black as well as the spoiler and sides. I felt that color matching would have been hard and didn't wish to paint the model as it looks so great bare with all the little details etc... Same with the wheels as this kit has awesome wheels! Plus I did a little artistic interpretation in saying those parts are aluminium and the rest of the car is made from some other kind of stuff I also love how the older Ferraris had white exhaust so I did mine in that too and added brass tips. Thanks very much for the compliment on my detail work. It's hit and miss and a learning process indeed.

Well thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it but you can be brutal as I'm very new to this and enjoy learning which is mostly a painful process.

Jesus I didn't realize the pics would be so huge. It looks hidious, sorry guys! I'll just leave em big.

Hi, This is my second build (I'll stop counting after the 3rd) and although it didn't turn out as hoped/planned, it IZ finished and I'm happy. There were 2 notable things that went very wrong; 1) Although I did test fit a few things, I didn't do it to critical stuff like chassis to body W/WHEELS! The wheels changed everything but it was too late in the build process. 2) I originally used and would have liked Metalizer but the surface was not prepped correctly. It must be a mirror finish or close to it in getting the look I wanted. In fact, after being stripped a few times the parts were not looking good and so I sanded/polished to a near perfect look. But ended up removing the fine detail like bolts, lines, etc... so I ended up using my cast pieces. These further caused fit/alignment issues as they were not prepped for proper fit. Again, due to the stage this build was in. I went with BMF as it did hide some surface fromage but I would’ve preferred Metalizer. I think both have a place in my tool set. I also had a mishap with the roof scoop due to over zealous polishing, so I improvised and added a bit of scoop. At any rate, I could have done a much better job if this was say my 6th model etc... but it looks ok. Sorry to all those Chaparral fans who’ll be disappointed with my take on this iconic vehicle.

Well, I just shot em an email. But guessing a Benjamin and a half.
-
Well actually I got some race cars from them not the engine. I think the engine is a bit above my pay grade and skill.

Hi, I ordered 2 kits and will post pics when they arrive. In terms of price, well I'll ask him. But keep in mind that prices do change due to currency fluctuations and the fact that he is a small ma&pa. BTW, you could have Firefox translate via an add on or use Goog Chrome which will auto translate. However if its a PDF or image etc, no dice.

Looks like a rather detailed and intricate kit. Seems very well thought out.

Hi JB, my latest Historic Racing Miniatures catalog has a set of Chaparral wheels+tires (HRM-421) for $15. They also have a set of GT40 wheels+tires (HRM-420) which may be wide enough for accuracy for $15. I seems the Fujimi GT40 kit has narrower then preffered wheels.

You go Gothicz. Its good to be passionate about something. I personally have no skin in the game as I don't build those type of subject matter (yet). But I can appreciate this topic as well as the back and forth. I learned a few things. PS Your site is really cool looking, I like it! -
Wow I just love all your builds pplz! I had no idea such a car exsisted. He must have surfed is all I can say. I sorta feel like buying that kit now I think a wooden long board would go well with such a car. PS jbwelda, truly lovely diorama, totally love it! PSS Actually just noticed you all have the killer huts and see that the kit came with it, how cool. Hobbybobby, I love the added sand, great touch!

Well, I started off with straight Simple Green for a few days which was ok. Then went to undiluted Super Clean which worked well but still left some fromage. Finaled using 99% Isopropal with Q-Tips. Plastic was in tact and pretty clean. Paint stripped off part in question; Tamiya white primer + Duplicolor sandable grey primer/scratch filler + Testors Metalizer. The later came off fast, it was the primers, speficially Tamiya primer which was a real bugger.

1/24 F1, F2 or F3000 kit suggestions
aurfalien replied to aurfalien's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the posts Greg. I've the M8B and will most likely get a M7A, 642 and looking for Matra MS11 or similar as those older F1 cars looked killer. Man, its like an addiction as I'm totally unsure when I will ever build whats in my stash! -
Possibly a helpful tool for paint decisions

1/24 F1, F2 or F3000 kit suggestions

Doh my bad, the Union M7A was what I ment. -
Hi, Looking to round out my stash with an F1 or similar kit. I've been eyeing the Accurate Miniatures McLaren M7A as well a Modelers T89 F3000. In your opinions, what would be a killer Formula type kit to have? Looking for the bitchin factor, skill level and difficulty are irrelevant as are era, so any decade is cool.

Hi JT, What phone do you have? I can't mimic that behavior on my iPhone 6.

I must say, this forum is pretty cutting edge. Most are... well... dismal! Nice work MCM!

Hi Andrew, Sorry to hear about Lyme, I'm all too familar with it! Welome from a newb to a newb! I can think of few better ways to spend time then building models and in doing so, becoming a craftman! Again, welcome and sorry about Lyme. PS Forgot, here is what I use to store paints and brushes. I can give you details on where I bought em if interested.
