  1. At worst case I'll use it to dust my electronics fromage etc... Even dust my models etc... Do some cleaing with it as well. Mebbe even try solvents in it etc... The kit comes with a few diff size nozzles.
  2. Well, I've read some literature that at 1CFM you'd need 45PSI and 2CFM would be 90. Do these figures sound right to you? They seem kinda high based on other literature.
  3. Curious though, I wonder what the CFM and PSI values are for a typical can of spray paint?
  4. Hi, Unsure what section to post this under so apologies to the moderators in advance. Has any one tried this in a paint/primer/etc application? The image is sorta for junk but its a "TruePower Refillable Aerosol Bottle". It can take 90PSI and has a few diff nozzles for fine mist etc...
  5. Call em, I'm sure they'd sell you parts. Again, these 2 guys are very very cool and easy to deal with.
  6. Well, one can say many things about this thread. But as for me, I learned a heck of a lot and will hope to avoid future pitfalls of this sort. I will think twice before combining certain colors etc... This little hobby of ours is complicated.
  7. When you are ready to do it, ping me. I'll share my experiences and things I would have done slightly different.
  8. I'm curious, it seems the Tamiya White Putty dries hard as a rock. I also find myself thinning it here and there due to quick chunkification. I've been going back and forth between it and Bondo Spot Putty but both are solvant based. Although the Bondo stuff is really cool to work with.
  9. Tamiya White Putty is ~$4.50 @1.12oz.
  10. Get the Super Cating Kit at HobbyLobby for 40% off and watch the video/read the enclosed directions and tips. The tips in paricluar are very cool, like using talcom powder to ease surface tension, warming the mold, how to mix the resin like A into B in avoiding bubbles etc... Very well writen all around. Alumilite made it easy for us.
  11. Hi, Not that I have much experiance but I use Mr Super Clear and its very cool. You can control the amount of gloss by how much you layer and it polishes super nice.
  12. Thank you Ace-Garageguy! Notice the painted parts actually have the Metalizer Alumium on it. I'm going to give it a full day before lightly buffing. I followed your queue on priming and then wet sanding. I did a test spray on bare plastic and didn't ike it much, so your method is the one to use. I did notice Metalizer cracks when painted over putty even though that putty was painted over by primer. So I've elected to use Zap-A-Gap instead of putty to fill gaps that are being painted with Metalizer.
  13. So I've managed to dupe the parts via a 2 piece mold. It was fun as I planned and studdied the directions for a while. The originals are already painted while the duplicated parts are still in resin color. I'm very pleased however there were a few air bubbles which will be coverd up by primer/paint. I rushed it being afraid the resin would dry quicker then it did. I'll take more time during the next casting as the resin doesn't dry that fast. Plus I even refergereted it based on the directions for increasing its "in-air" time a bit.
  14. I know what you meant though. Tanks both for the replies, uber stoked to try this.
  15. Wow, thats killer and killer history as well.
  16. Thats not a bad idea, but first I think I need to ask my wife
  17. Cool, so then this is my procedure; 1) Primer, I only have the white Tamiya though * The part itself is black which man I gotta say; I don't really like when these kits come in mixed color styrene. 2) Wet sand finley. 3) Apply 3 or more wet coats, 20 min between each. Sound cool?
  18. Hmmm, I wonder if I'm allowed to buy it there and bring it over to the states? Man what a car! I loved the reviews on it. Another beauty;
  19. Hi, So I've read some great tips on using this stuff, mainly from Ace-Garagaguy and thank you for that Ace. But I've read other conficling fromage and my LHS says to spray on bare plastic. 1) Is the primer used to hide or fill in any imperfections? If the piece is very smooth and about perfect, does one need primer? 2) If primered, do I need to 1200 grit wet sand? The 1500 seems kinda gritty to me, wouldn't 4000 or 6000 be better? 3) One heavy coat to avoid grains? Or can I do a light coat to start the games off and then shoot a heavy coat over it to avoid grains? Sorry, I know its been covered but I'm looking for a definitive how to. Thanks in advance. PS HAPPY 4TH!!! I'm stoked!
  20. Anything TVR but the Tuscan is super nice!
  21. I just saw this film; WOW! I grew up in Hawthorne circa 70's and never really cared for em as I was simply anti what was popular. As I grew and evolved I found myself really liking them, it took me a while to develeop good taste. Dude, what a sweet soul and an amazing mind Brian Wilson has. A superlative human for sure. His current wife saved his life no doubt and they say behind every great man, lies an even greater woman. Well, I modded it a bit
  22. Oddly enough I've been listening to the BB a lot past few months. Sounds of Summer is a very good compilation of there magic. Every one of those songs is simply iconic for sure. I've been turning the 20 somethings at work on to them. There lyrics combined with the melody/harmony are amazing, our version of The Beatles. I mean who can't like songs about drag racing fast cars, surfing, and highschool romance? Pure poetry and good inoccent and beautiful music. Best part, they grew up in the South Bay as I did. PS Words to live by; "Good Timin"
  23. My LHS has seen a nice up tick in customers. Partly because parents are getting there kids in RC/modeling vs gaming and partly because of there knowledge base. They are VERY friendly and knowledable which helps a great deal. I've also seen a reduction in model shops and model inventory on eBay. There new policies coupled with competition from Amazon is changing the landscape. There are a few LHS in my general area of travel which sux big time, unfriendly staff with a "can't be bothered" attitude will catch up to them I think. All in all, I've always felt that there are 2 kinds of buyers; 1) Low cost, indiscrimint buyer who knows enough about what they want. 2) Discriminent buyer who needs a little help as needs are not generic. There is room for both but the latter requires a savvy biz owner to culticvate.
  24. I highly recommend these 2 ppl/companies to any/every one.
