  1. As far as film making goes, it was Mr. Lucas's best work.
  2. Its Historic Racing Miniatures and they have a perfect 1/24 scale 250TR engine that looks awesome. Its like ~$40 or so. Them and Replicas&Miniatures of Maryland are fantastic to deal with. Love those guys. Here is a link to a vendor of theres. But I suggest calling HRM direct. http://www.islandcollectibles.net/prod022211.htm
  3. Yep, I was just gonna say Rep&Min or HRM. Same thing sorta. Its funny, I've seen those engine kits go for like $100 were as HRM is asking less then 1/2 that. Give him a call, totally cool to deal with, him and Norm.
  4. Cool man. The blog I read said to slam the bottom of the bottle against your palm often while shaking it vigourously.
  5. The black is awesome, as is the red. The silver requires thinning. With several thin coats you can handel them just fine w/o varnish. When I was stripping last night with Super Clean, the Tamiyas went pretty much right away but the Vallejo which were applied using several thin coats took a long while. The Tamiyas were applied with a few coats as well.
  6. I'll post soon but after reading several how-to's including there blog, I'm get MUCH better results diluting minimum 1:1 using distilled water. Also, several thin coats seems to eliminate that rubbery latex characteristic and the paint adhesion is much stronger. Some paints work great out the bottle, others I pallete and dilute. The irony here is that I went Vallejo to simplify workflow as it seemed they work straight out the bottle. BUT, it appears there is no substitution for prepping paint. Still, I wished there were bottle paints good and ready from the bottle 100%. Oh well....
  7. Great article; http://www.maschinenkrueger.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=23:vallejo-model-paints&catid=18:tools-and-supplies&Itemid=22 Many of the YouTubes seem to paint right out the bottle. However it seems recomendd to always thin. I'll post pics of my results with the challenging colors.
  8. Wow, thanks Twokidsnosleep! Very very cool of you! Have you tried adding water 1:1? Scrolling to the bottom of this blog says to always do 1:1 minimum for type of application; http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/painting-figures-with-model-color/blog/1/36 Yes, I've found the silver is tricky but I dilute it and its cool. I don't know how to deal with the milky white or yellow. But perhaps many diluted coats? Below are some pics with there silver, red and black. Knocked out some rotors/breaks/hubs today. If your silver is chunky etc... email Vallejo and they will send a new bottle free of charge.
  9. I'm reading there blog which seems great in fact. I must be doing something wrong as many have said how great the paint is and I've seen results. The blog mentions a 1;1 dilution rate but its already thin. I'll try it and see what happens.
  10. Thanks for the post. Could you recomend a good brush on primer? I find brushing very zen and interactive. Spray has its place as well but some times, a lot of times I'd just rather brush. PS The Tamiya surface primer is excellent but it has putty in it and I use it as a filler+primer and is not a regular primer.
  11. Thanks MsDano. Below is a pic of Taimya + yellow embossing powder. I still have to shake off the excess and will wait a bit, but I've found a bad paint job won't be covered up by powder. The Tamiya went on better.
  12. Attached is a pic of a seat I had to strip and repaint due to the yellow mishap. Note the black, its 1 coat of the Vallejo Model Color, goes on wonderfully! I'll probaly use Tamiya yellow tonight.
  13. Well, its Model Color line and is meant to brush on. I'm getting pretty dismaid with my Vallejo experiance so far.
  14. Hi, Are there any Vallejo experts that can help me? Both my white and deep yellow Model Color line of paints go on milky, thin and show beush strokes. They cover very poorly and casue me to paint multiple layers which start to peel off as this stuff sorta dries like latex which is wierd. Is it me, my brush, my technique? The Vallejo black goes on perfectly. Attached is a video of what I am talking about. Its not great but was the best I could do. I'd appreciate any guidance. Thanks in advance. vallejo.mov
  15. Hi, I've a 17ml bottle of there surface primer. Its very thin, runny and milky, shows brush strokes too. After applying about 6-7 coats, it seems to look ok. Has any one messed with this stuff?
  16. Thanks guys, will do. This is an odd one though. If you search Dino 206, 206S or 206GT you don't get this car. However it's a Dino 206 Competizione which is a bit different from the 206. Plus this model has 8 intake funnels as I guess the Wolf car based on some Anime is a beefed up 8 cylinder.
  17. Hi, It's the Fujimi Wolf Yatabe Racing Special which is simply a Fujimi Dino 206GT kit with some extras at a fraction of the cost. Über stoked on it.
  18. ... stoked, love that thing. just started using it for this build.
  19. Well I think a retro-modern take would be awesome. Along the lines of BKs Impala. Perhaps something with angles and curves would be killer.
  20. I think its cool that a major chain does this. It wouldn't surprise me if the buyer was a modeler.
  21. Wow, very cool! If the Carpi would come out looking like that, I'd seriously consider buying it, my first US car. It actually looks like what I thought a Scirocco should have been.
  22. Nice suggestion. However were I work frequently gets Crispy Creams which are as you know, zingers to an order of magnetude. Still, the pastries of Solvang are hard to beat, my wife and I enjoy going there. Its weird, cool and fun all in one!
  23. Helix, slusher, 59-Desoto and vintagercr, very kind of you all, many many thanks! Since I had to buy an extra Fuji/Chap kit due to missing parts, I started to heavily mod the 2nd one and am building a Chaparral 2D Can-Am Spyder version of sorts. I'll post it in the work bench section soon. Its an ongoing project requring heavy body work etc.. which will most likley take several months.
  24. Thanks bbowser. My next model is a Dino 206GT. Its a Fujimi Wolf kit which is half price of an actual Fujimi 206GT kit. Buts its a 206GT as I compared build instructions on 1999.co.jp.
