  1. Thanks guys. I found the 3500 HD kit on their website. At just 35$ it is not all that expensive either: http://www.motorcityresincasters.com/Chevy3500HD.htm I have an idea of building models of some of the vehicles in the computer game GTA San Andreas. And in that game you can drive the Utility Van: https://www.grandtheftwiki.com/Utility_Van I'm not after making and exact replica but a Chevy work truck with a Utility box, painted in white is what I want to do.
  2. I'm no Ford truck expert but did the Flaresides come with the cab side mouldings from factory? I know that Dodge did not offer the side moulding on there Utilines (atleast the 66 brochure I got states that) and I'm not sure on Chevys since the 64 brochure I got is for the full truckline it does not state any specifics about trim but I can't see any pictures of Stepsides with the side moulding that they had on Fleetsides.
  3. Anyone know if there was ever a Cheyenne trim lever grille made for the MPC/AMT 88-99 GMT400 pickups? I'm talking about this one: Or this one:
  4. Agreed
  5. Same here, I also wanted to build "grocery getter" and was bummed out when I found out what was in it.
  6. I am one of those that want to have that kit on my shelf, not because that I think any higly of the boxart but because I have several other versions of the same kit. I'm not sure the pink VW Street Machine really is that much better: But atleast it shows you what you get, a very pink late 80s cal-looker. And I got it on the shelf. When searching for that box I also found this: Revell Easy kit New Beetle. Does that boxart make you want to buy it?
  7. Great work on this one Patrick, nice to see another one of these built. But did lorries really have white wall tires back in the day?
  8. Thanks for helping me out guys. Now I now what I need to do make the LRE truck sit level I think that the rear springpacks are not that spindly for a D100, here you can see a picture of the springs on my own 65 D100: The rear springs are the upper ones in the photo, just four leafs on these. A higher GVW would give more springs. My D100 has the second to lowest capasity that they came with in 65 with a rear spring capasity at 1400lbs: The D100 could be had with 1100lbs, 1400lbs and 1750lbs in 65. I guess the same goes for the 70s versions and a 72 D100 could easily have nearly the same GVW rating and spring capasity as my 65. It's a good thing that it is the rear that is lifted rather than the front lowered. It is much easier to modify or replace the rear springs that to lift the front suspension on this one.
  9. Wow, thank you very much!! And that is spot on late 50s Mopar aswell. The hubcaps that I got on my 65 Dodge is actually for a 57 Plymouth. They are the same as the original ones but shiny instead of painted. Here is a picture of the original one: And here you can see the ones I got now:
  10. Now that looks great, got any more pictures of it?
  11. I like this project a lot and I find it very tempting but I do see that those hubcaps also look very similar to what I got on my 1:1 65 Dodge. Where do they come from? Are they aviable separatley?
  12. I have been searching this forum for a while now but not found the answer to what I'm looking for so I will ask here. The front and rear suspension in the LRE, is that different from other 2wd versions of the kit? I ask because I see that there is a deffinate rake to the truck but I'm not sure if it is the front that is lowered or the rear that has been lifted.
  13. I'm not sure what category this would fit in to so I'm posting it here under General. I just happend to look up info on Zamboni and came across pages with info on the early ones. I suddenly noticed that they where built on Jeeps. What a great modelling idea I thought. Anyone here ever built one? https://zamboni.com/about/zamboni-archives/restorations/ http://rickbeyer.blogspot.com/2013/01/todays-google-doodle-celebrates-frank.html https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/zamboni I think one could use the old MPC Jeep as a base for it but one would need more refrence material on the construction of the thing.
  14. Interesting. I remember seeing somewhere online many moons ago a rallycar build all in metal with bent and dented parts. It would be fun to learn how to replicate body panels in metal, one could actually get real rust on them.
  15. They have re-released the 56 VW Beetle and the Karmann Ghia in later years but now under the Mr- Hobby name. I bought them quite cheap from Hobby Search (about a 1000Yen I think) I found them under GSI Creos on Hobby Search now: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/list/2304/0/1?Make=GSI+Creos But it looks like they are sold out at the moment.
  16. Such a familiar sight, the Amason, but also very exotic with California plates. That Toyota sure must be a rare sight anywhere in the world.
  17. I once had the double kit with the Messerschmitt and the Isetta but I sold it. I remeber that it looked like a good kit and I regret selling it now.
  18. Ah, ok. Thank you Even if the kit is a little lacking I want to build it but as a stock Thunderbird. I think it can look failry ok when done sitting on the shelf.
  19. Do those kits have anything in common with Otaki's 1:24 american cars? I bought a S.W.A.T Thunderbird from Otaki not that long ago: Not my picture but it is this kit. WAY to big, must be closer to 1:21 or 1:22. I compared it to the AMT 70 Galaxie police car and the Thunderbird is wider and longer by quite some margin. It is also a very typical older japansese kit. Designed to be motorized and with working lights. Opening doors will reveal a interior that is not very detailed.
  20. Convertible model kit?
  21. Only modern day tooling kits that I can think of right now is the Moebius Ford pickups, they have the twin I-beam but the suspension is separate so maybe the frame itself could be used. Other toolings that are the same size is Revell 64-66 Chevys (they do have part of the cab floor molded to the frame) or maybe the AMT 60 Chevy (again, different suspension. I have plans of using the Revell Dodge Ram VTS frame, suspension, engine and drivetrain under the LRE kit. The wheelbase on those two are quite close
  22. Sweet!! Ok, I know this is a Chevy, but this is what I'm thinking:
  23. Not a car movie but a tv-series with quite a lot of driving in the episodes: The Persauders: The Dino and the Aston DBS always looks good, and there is a lot of other cool cars aswell. Looks like there is a lot of full episodes on youtube:
  24. Ah, yes. That is a great one. I have a copy of it on dvd somewhere but it is in french with no subtitles
  25. Now that is a good idea
