  1. One of the things that bothered me with the way the bajabug ended up first time round was the rear track. It was way to narrow: The tires don't stick out beyond the fenders. One other thing that bothered me was that it was sitting to high. Not the groundclearens but the body was too high, it was above the floorpan and not over it: And the all black look was just to sinister. So now, I have stripped the body of paint and here you can really see that it is sitting to high on the floorpan: And then there is the wheels!! Check them out!!   2. One could actually have a 70 1302 even if it has modelyear as 71. The 1302 model was launched after the national summer holidays in 1970. Personally I could have wanted a 1302 modelkit as I don't think anyone has ever made one but Revell did have a 1:18 diecast of a 1302 sedan.
  3. I bought this from oldr-n-drt a couple of years ago: Here it is sitting on the frame of the 1:24 Bedford O-series from Emhar and I have forgotten who made the rim that is on the frontwheel. I also bought a single cab from him with a sweptline bed but I don't have pictures of that at the moment.
  4. A 3d scanner would be great, if someone here has one I could always ship the 1:1 rim somewhere. I don't need to get it back either as I do not have a car to put them on.
  5. Ok, I'm in if it is ok to join now. I built this bajabug some 3-4 years ago and it was almost 100% complete and I did show it at the Norwegian Challenge show but I was never quite happy with it. Now, I got a set of 4-lug slot mags from Aoshima and some better tires and I have managed to pry it apart without to much brakage. The body has already gone in to the brakefluid and it will recive a new paintjob. Not that the black with skulls was bad, it just was not what I wanted to do. Hopefully I will get the details better done this time around. The basis for the build was the Polar Lights kit, not a bad kit in itself.
  6. Yeah, most things are way more expensive here but most Norwegians claim that we also make more money than anyone else aswell. According to the statistics the avarage yearly wage in Norway is somewhere between 450 000 and 500 000 kroner (52-58 000$US) alltough that is almost twice as much as I make. Without the taxes the Wrangler Sahara that my wife tested would cost 522 664 kroner or 60844 $US. More than half the price is taxes. I can scratchbuild and maybe I will find out that I can stretch the frame and make my own bodypanels but to be on the safeside I got two of them. It ended up being a bit of an impulce purchace as I was actually looking for pictures of Hasegawas and Italeris WWII Jeeps to see which one would be best suited for an offroad conversion (having just seen the lates episode of Dirt Every Day) as I got this idea of using the 6.1 litre Hemi out of Revells Dodge Magnum in a flatfender Jeep with aftermarket axles and big tires. The reason I was looking for pictures of the Hasegawa and Italeri Jeeps is that I don't have any of them but do have the old MPC kit.
  7. Yours look nice. The reason I ordered two is that I want to build a 4-door one. I have been looking at the real thing for some time now and really wanted to go and check out this 09 Wrangler Sport JK not long ago: But it was sold before I could get time of work to go see it. I had my wife go on a testdrive for a 2019 Wrangler Sahara JL but with a pricetag of 1 103 000 kroner (that's 128 400 $US in todays currency rate) it is way out of our pricerange. We ended up buying a 2010 Subaru Outback instead, with a diesel engine that according to eveyrone is going to blow up any minute....

  9. That was exactly what I was suspecting. A very common mistake to make as the 1302/03 (SuperBeetle) are the same as the older bugs in many untrained eyes. The have made a similar mistake on the new-tool 1:24 convertible kit aswell. The boxart pictures looks to be a 1302: And the kit inside is this: I have a 1:24 diecast bug made by Maisto that says it is a 1303 and it does have 1303 taillamps and a windscreen that is not flat but curved enough either and it has a standing/leaning sparewheel in the front with the 5-205 lugpattern
  10. Ah, there was a british Revell aswell, I did not know that. I discovered now that I even have one of the kits they released (the 1960 Mercedes 190SL). One learns something new every day
  11. I have also been looking for such wheels. I have not found an exact replica but there is some steelies in certain japanese kits. These, that I used on Fujimis BMW Alpina C1 2,3 to try and build a E21 316, was found in a Fujimi Nissan Micra kit (Tommy Kaira M13 Stage-1 number RS-22) There is also a set of steelies in the Aoshima Toyota Corolla E-70 sedan DX late version but they are also not an exact replica. If there is any consolation in it, I have a set of 1:1 rims like that in my garage, 14" I belive.

  13. Could they have been some co-production with some british modelmaker? Apart from the KG, all the cars are british made ones.
  14. But is it? Anyone here got one? Or could it be a reissue of the Imai convertible? In that case, it is very much labled wrong as the Imai 1303 is too wide to be a 1:24 bug. Or could it be a classic case of boxart-snafu?

I have never owned any version of this tool that is old enough to not have the fenderflares but I have the pink Street Machine kit anf the Lighting Rods edition and they are both looking quite rough. I did build the 60s beetle version some years ago but I built it as a class 11 baja racer. I made my own doorpanels. I may have taken the bumpers of Hasegawas 66/67 as I used parts from the revell kit to build a replica of my own 69 with Hasegawas 67 back in the day: Hasegawa 67 with bumpers and wheels from the Revell 1:25 bug.
  19. I'm fairly certain that I read somewhere a long time ago that the original kit from 68 did not have fender flares but was later modified and all reissues later have had them. Looking at the pictures posted above it looks like the Herbie ride again does not have them but the Barris version may have them (difficult to see with all the bling effect on the boxart photo) They have also used parts from the same tooling on the Gypsy Dune buggy and Super Safari buggy. I got these on the shelf and the floorpan is clearly a shorter version and lots of engine and suspension parts are the same.
  20. When I was in school one of my dreams was of making my own cars. I wanted to start producing cars but unlike so many other greats that have started making cars (Ford, Dodge, Austin and many more) I could not use my own lastname (Halsaunet) so I came up with the name Atmobil (I think I was maybe about 10 at the time) and that name has been with me ever since. I have used it on most boards and forums online and also in many other situations where I would need a username or nickname.
  21. I have one 1:1 hubcap like that, not sure if it is 12" or 10" but I got it from a friend that was looking for a new lid for his fryingpan and found the chevy hubcap to be the wrong size. I have for years wanted to build the blue and white C10 Cheyenne and put it on a base with the farmer and the field.
  22. I have not shown any pictures of this build here yet but this is the LRE that I am building as a 74 D100 utiline. I used the rims from the trailer in the Fireball 500 kit with tires from AMT 72 Chevy Blazer (Goodyear Tracker A-T) and the hubcap from Monaco kit (my issue is the Sheriff Rosco police car from Dukes of Hazzard). In this picture the hubcap is still not glued on, just stuck to the rim with some mulit-tack.
  23. Sorry for hijacking the thread but what would be the best source for these hubcaps? The ones you see on the bottom c10 step side. And are they the same as these?
  24. I had my old 85 Mercedes stalling on left hand turns aswell but that was down to a loose nut on the earthstrap between the engine and inner fender
  25. You have done good work on that one, is that based on the Hasegawa Samba or Panel? A modelling friend of mine started a project on making a ambulance out of the Hasegawa Panel some 12-15 years ago. He had gotten to the stage og making the side windows using the samba windows as templates. I guess it will be a lot easier to make an ambulance conversion with the new Kombi kit as one only has to move the rear tailgate hinges to the bottom of the tailgate instead of the top.
