How far is too far... ?

I'm not a good enough builder to be able to laugh at someone else's work... Build it and post progress pics! -
This is looking really nice!

Picking away at it. My Hurst-shifted interior is done. Though it doesn't show well, the door panels are slightly darker than the seats and the upper dash panel is lighter than the dash pad, just to give it a little more realism. Bare Metal Foil over gold paint is an eye tester! Gold embossing powder for the carpet. Sorry for the crappy pics. My camera didn't want to focus, for some reason.

The Secret to Building a Better Model

Absolutely! Seeing some of the builds here has pushed me to push myself. -
Keys in the ignition... Love it!

My all time favourite driver. Never noticed it while it was being painted, but the body has a pretty decent warp to it. Might have to glue the body to the chassis...

I think you did a bang up job! I'd be quite happy with it.

Wow! That is Super Nice! You a Mopar guy? You nailed a lot of details bang on! :)

Nothing seemed to go right on this car, but it's finally ready for the cabinet. One of my favourite drivers...

Revell's '67 GTX. It's going to be a Day 2 drag strip warrior. Headers, no exhaust, cool can, slicks, some window stickers, guages, maybe some ET times and class designation on the side glass, etc. Some wear detail on the Hemi... Thinking about maybe road wheels on the front and steelies with the slicks or maybe Cragars all around, or Cragars on the front and steelies out back. ? It looks to be a pretty nicely proportioned kit. Should be fun. All the chrome was trashed so I used Alclad on everything... hopefully I don't rub it all off before I'm done.

Love it! That's an awesome colour for a buggy.

Sooo nice! Love the wood grain steering wheel! I just finished a '74 Barracuda and wanted to use the road wheels but only had three in the parts bin... they look awesome on E bodies.

Dann, I used a fine tipped Sharpie, but those lines seemed awfully thin! That's my story, anyway...

Done! Now appearing in the Under Glass section.

Progress pics are in the Workbench section... I'm pretty happy how this turned out. Added some front turn signals from the parts bin and fashioned up some quasi-discs in the front and red drums in the rear. The kit rims and tires seemed tiny to me, so these came from a '64 impala. They fit the wheel wells better, I think. Comments most welcome.

A4 was the colour I was shooting for, but couldn't find something close on the Duplicolor rack and was too lazy to look elsewhere... I think this is more like A8, which is darker than A4. No matter, I think it looks good on a Barracuda's lines.

Easily one of the most frustrating kits I've ever worked on... Started it about 15 years ago, life got in the way and it sat as a painted shell since this summer. Had a really difficult time with the decals and ended up using nail polish for the pink and cutting out the sponsor decals from the second sheet... The decals must have been old, I couldn't seem to get them right. Several went foggy after applying them, no matter what I did. Warm water, slight bit of Dawn, etc... Said to myself they were good enough and cleared over them. From a distance, they look ok, but not one of my better jobs. Still some deals yet to be installed but they are all small and hopefully will work alright. Putting the chassis together is something else! I've built maybe a dozen Nascar kits but with this one nothing seemed to fit. Lots of trimming, lots of fitting and lots of re-gluing... AAARRRGGGGGGHHHHH! Ran out of camera batteries, so the chassis pics will have to wait till tomorrow, Hopefully the whole kit will be finished then.

That's a lot of work for very good price. Hold on to that mechanic! My '99 Montana van left home this afternoon on a flat bed... no start condition. Good battery, tight connections, all fuses are good, yet very dim lights and nothing in the start position. It has some electrical gremlins, but for the $1350 I have invested in it (including tires!) over the last four years, it's been a super vehicle.

I like it!
