Sydney. Sydney Forks, to more precise. Years ago, back home we had some neighbours from Windsor. Skelhorn was the last name... super people!

Not offensive in the least. I thought it was a little on the big side, too, but so far I haven't found anything that's better sized. Any ideas?

I'm building the same kit right now. I'm in the final assembly stages. It's a pretty nice kit, though I couldn't - for the life of me - get the steering box to fit properly. What part of Nose Kosher you from? I'm a Caper originally...

Something like this... After seeing it in pictures, I've been thinking of maybe some light pods or small Dagmar caps close to the outer ends, to add a bit of zing. It's nice and simple now, but is it too plain? I plan on cutting a groove from end to end on the leading face and inserting some thin wire, for a bit of a contour look. That's the only way I can think to be able to foil it. I know the mesh grill isn't centered but I had a tricky time getting it to fit and finally just glued it in there. It'll have to do... Comments?

Back at it... I was going to use the kit-supplied custom grill and bumper, but it looked too... kittish. ? I was after something that looked a bit more realistic. I found some old speakers and one gave up it's mesh grill. It's steel too! Possibly a little big, but I like it. I'm slicing the custom bumper away from the grill and am part-way through narrowing it to fit completely inside the grill opening. When its done, I'll foil it and polish the living snot out of it for that chrome look. Maybe a pic or two of the roughed out bumper tomorrow... I tunneled out the headlight buckets and mounted the lights from the backside for a more frenched look.

Bill Nye thinks the fuel used in Nascar is wasteful and environmentally un-friendly? I wonder what he thinks about the batteries needed to run electrics... ?

Why do we like the makes we do ?

My Dad drove Mopars and Fords, with a few imports thrown in along the way. I came home from the hospital in his '61 Beetle... Growing up, he drove Mopars almost exclusively, so that might have been an influence. Following Nascar since the very early 70s and being a Petty fan contributed too... All the cool kids at high school had GM products. Who the Hell wanted to be in that crowd? I was a Mopar guy all the way! Took a lot of ribbing, but being in with the in crowd wasn't my style... and Chryco products were readily available back then and cheap! Had my own small resto shop and worked on and loved just about everything but Ma Mopar has been my favourite, though I do own a 74 VW Beetle -
Looks like a nice kit. I restored the body and paint on four or five 1:1 DS cars over the years. They're not for everyone but I like them.

Nice job on those wheel openings!

That's going to be sweet! I'll be following along.

That's some very nice work! Excellent! Those Monacos were a pretty fancy car, and you pulled it off to a T!

Holy Schmoly, that's nice!

Getting closer... A pretty enjoyable car to build. I did things a little backwards and built the chassis first so it could be painted as a unit, so I had a tough time getting the engine in there, but it all worked out in the end.

I ditched the kit's 8.74 rear end in favour of a Dana 60, which I think is more appropriate for a Hemi four speed car. Probably should have lengthened the drive shaft a touch...

Very nice job!

It's looking very good!

Very, very nice!

Nice! I'm building the same kit, and mine is painted Gold as well! It is a very decent kit, though for the life of me, I couldn't get the steering box in the right place so I omitted it.

1968/1969 Dodge Charger chassis primer color?
restoman replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Depends on what colour the body is. Grey and red oxide primers were both used. -
I'm having a tough time getting the kit steering box to fit. Anyone have any pics of one in it's proper location? I'm almost to the point of leaving it out... It's the Revell 2 in 1 kit.

Finished up the Hemi. The chrome was destroyed in this kit, so everything got Alclad-ed... I wasn't super impressed with my results, but the air cleaner will work ok. The decals, unfortunately, are toast.
