  1. I have been building model for many years now, but one thing really escapes me. That is I don't know how to tell one tire apart from another. I hear builders saying 15 inch or 16 inch, and tire sizes such as 215/55 R17. 215/55 R17 . This is really Greek to me. I mean on 1:1 tires, I understand, but on model tires I don't get it. I appreciate any help I can get. Once Modelhaus reopens, I need to know the tire sizes, because Modelhaus has such a wide variety to choose from.
  2. Love the color. I just received some Tamiya's Pink Primer. I also have a pink pearl paint. Just looking for the right kit to use. Again, I think you did a fabulous job. Really love the 55's. The back bumper may be upside down, but you know, it is a nice twist.
  3. I got one of those kits when I was 16, back in 65. They only cost $16.50 back then. Wish I still had mine. You did an outstanding job. The candy paint really looks good on the model.
  4. As a Mustang lover, you did this model proud.
  5. I had one like that, only in Moss Green. Boy am I jealous. Then I got married....
  6. I think you just answered your own question.
  7. For that year of a car, you have picked good colors.. About 10 years down the line, red seemed to work well. I like the interior colors. Which ever ones you use for the interior, I think black accent would be stunning. Best of luck, Steve. Mike
  8. I used Sidekick on my junkers windows, and it makes them look old and dusty. Haven't tried the rubbing compound yet, I guess I will give it a try. Thanks for that info.
  9. Just like Stray said, start with 3200, 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000 and finish it off with 12,000. I have done many clear plastic using this process, and have yet to fail. Once you are done with the wet sanding, you can wax it to a shine, or use Future floor polish. If you have any problems, please don't hesitate to ask.
  10. This turned out to be very interesting and educational. I have had an experience using the Alcad II, from the spray can. I know it says for Lexan plastics, but after checking around, I got some great advise. Pretty much the same procedure as the air brushed method, but quite a bit more time is invested getting the similar results. I really love the way the spray can went on, as it dries to the touch almost instantly. After all is said and done, my results were nearly the same. I do need to try the stainless steel method next and check and compare. I just purchased the 68 Charger R/T a few days ago. I think I will try some engine parts using the stainless steel method. I now know why I bought the stainless steel spray can years ago. I just wasn't using it correctly. Also the advise on the handling the finished item with latex gloves, is a great tip.
  11. I echo what everyone has said. Super build. Can you tell me a little about the paint. I really like this one.
  12. there seems to be several who favor Moebius. I just wonder why Moebius produce a very small amount of automobiles. They do mostly do TV and Movie items as well as Sc-fi. On the other hand Revell puts out a good variety of kits. AMT is not far behind.
  13. I recently got some sanding film, 15,000 to 60,000. Is this type of sandpaper supposed to be used as a wet and dry or just as is? I have a car that I did several years ago, and I wet sanded it with 3200 to 12,000 wet and dry paper. I got a very nice smooth and shinny finish, and then waxed it to a super shine. When I got this sanding film 15,000 to 60,000, I went over this same car, and used this sanding film as wet and dry. I got a very smooth finish, even smoother than the regular 3200 to 12,000 gave me. The results sort of dumb founded me, as even though I got a very smooth finish, it did not give me the same shine as the previous wet and dry sand papers did. So I went thru my various scratch removers and waxes and got a bit of a better shine, but still not as nice as was previously done. Am I using this 15,000 to 60,000 incorrectly? Should have I used this sanding film dry instead of using it with water? Should have I used this first before using the wet and dry paper? I really would like some feedback on this so that I know what I am doing or did. Thanks so much.,
  14. Go check out this thread. Some good information also: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96820&hl=airbrush
  15. I was talking with a friend of mine the other day, and we starting to discuss who made the best model kits. This is all types, cars, truck, planes, ships and etc... I personally think that Moebius, he said Airfix. I am curious what everyone thinks are the best of all the manufactures.
  16. shoot, I think that is what I am looking for, thanks.
  17. Something I have always wanted to do is connect heater a hose to the engine. I am ashamed to admit it, but I do not know where the connection on the motor goes. If someone could kindly point this out to me, I would be grateful.
  18. Definitely get from a military kit. Depending on the scale you want, you can get them off of a 2-1/2 (deuce and a half) truck. It is called a shackle. Go the this link: https://www.google.com/search?q=deuce+and+a+half+military+truck&tbm=isch&imgil=fOz3l5T63sTARM%253A%253BRdEcRRT8sZP9-M%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fen.wikipedia.org%25252Fwiki%25252FM35_2%25252525C2%25252525BD-ton_cargo_truck&source=iu&pf=m&fir=fOz3l5T63sTARM%253A%252CRdEcRRT8sZP9-M%252C_&usg=__BHRhzNH8jfdZY3RP-zsQn88sWqk%3D&biw=1280&bih=570&ved=0CDgQyjc&ei=vAn1VKP7N4OrgwSSsoDYBg#imgdii=_&imgrc=HQVDDFh28CH3XM%253A%3BVz3SgHfjXvStqM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.truckforum.org%252Fforums%252Fattachments%252Ftruck-classifieds%252F3291d1252683790-for-sale-trade-military-2-ton-deuce-half-dsc02603.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.truckforum.org%252Fforums%252Ftruck-classifieds%252F19858-for-sale-trade-military-2-ton-deuce-half.html%3B933%3B700 Tons of pictures of this shackle.
  19. You are really talented. BTW how do you accomplish the seats? They really pop.
  20. I lived in Nebraska for 16 years. It snowed there a lot. We got 52", all in one storm. Summers were hot as heck. Now I live in SC, and it is no picnic here. Although we don't get much snow, thank goodness, we get plenty of cold weather. Just this week the highs will be 64,50,45,70, and then down in the 40's again. Regular yo-yo weather. Also I spent 9 years in Germany, and that is more like the weather where Steve is. I would rather live in Hawaii.
  21. I use the spring type benders, and I have had great success with them. You can pick up a set of 4 at Hobby Lobby for under $4.00 with the 40% coupon.
  22. Where did you obtain that? Really nice to have kit.
  23. I agree with Jantrix. When we were young, we had models, pick-up games, or just hanging out. That was are thing. Now days I phones, I pads, video games is what there generations thing is. We can't push something on someone who does not have the interest, just like they can't push video games and such on us if we don't want. What ever happens will happen. Things will work themselves out.
  24. I really appreciate your answer. However my not having any knowledge of the compressor, in which position is the valve closed or open? After reading your answer am I to understand that the air pressure going to the brush is strictly a guessing game or such? Do I need to get a regulator with the pressure gauge on it to properly adjust the air pressure to the brush? What I do understand is that I must open the valve a little bit before starting every time, and then close it after it is running. Is that correct? It's just that I do not know by looking at it if it is closed or open. I tried to turn the valve and it does not want to move. The only thing I know about it is that my sister in-law purchase the set-up to use in a nail salon. I would take from that info, that this brush shoots very fine? Please excuse my questioning so much, but I am a green horn when it comes to the brush and compressor. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
  25. I want to know how do you now if a Paasche D535 bleeder valve is open or closed? and how does it actually work? I have the D535 valve on my Paasche D500 compressor, and the instructions state not to operate the compressor with the bleeder valve closed. Well, the instructions do explain any thing about the valve except about the thing being closed or open. Is this what controls the psi to the air brush? I am am bit confused.
