Personally, as I've said before, alI really want to do is build the custom version on the box. so I don't really need a new kit. A used one even with all the scripts and door handles removed would work for me but I do see why some would want a squeaky new kit. [and sorry, I don't believe George Barris had anything to do with the custom version of that kit even fore a minute. No gold lame or leopard skin roof covering anywhere 😉]

Did some work on the resin body. Primed it and wet sanded it out. You can see it was not exactly smooth with a rough surface and it looks like the master could have used some more sanding itself before casting. Looks like it was meant to be used with the older 3 window coupe/roadster versions of the kit but I'm using one of the 5 window kits so I'll have to re-work the hood to better match up with the body. Also did a lot of contour work around the window openings so it looks closer to the real car's openings. I think I'm gonna re-scribe the trim around the windshield too as it's not very well done. Started on the engine from the Revell '32 sedan kit. Did a thin wash on the heads and shot them with some Tamiya semi-gloss clear.

Grant, you're gonna have to tell which kit exactly it is. There's several kits of the E-Type and the parts don't interchange on any of them

Got mine too. Picked it up a long time ago. I actually had 2 but one wasn't complete. A previously cleanly built, unpainted one and an unbuilt missing some suspension parts. Had a chance to trade for an MPC annual '70 Charger so I bundled up the parts to build a stock one and let it go. Kept the best body, interior, etc as I had always planned to use the then freshly issued Revell '70 Torino as a parts donor. Never got around to it but I have it for when the mood strikes.

I actually got one of the MPC '78 front bumpers along with a grille from Chris earlier this year and made a mold of the bumper and now have several for future builds so I'm good. Under normal circumstances I'd gladly send Christian one but with Canada Post on strike again and all the kerfuffle sending stuff across the border at the moment, I don't really feel comfortable offering as you never know what could happen now,

I agree. Only issue I have is with the brush guard being molded right to the bumper instead of being a separate part. Since mine will be dropped right down over a set of '20s, the chassis won't be an issue as it's being chucked, maybe [probably??] for a printed modern aftermarket 2WD chassis. BTW, Christian, I see the side trim is depicted on the decal sheet on this reissue. Not as good as molded to the body so you can foil it but better then nothing.
-
The hoods on both those are separate parts but, yea. Thing is, if we sent you the hood from one of ours then WE'D have a kit in need of a hood. 😥😁 But at least you know they're out there. BTW, a hood from an MPC original '69 , '70 or '70 reissue will also fit the '68 perfectly. Bought a cleanly built '68 annual a couple years ago. Stripped it and found the hood to be one molded in grey from the '70 reissue.

The Fujimi '67 R isn't exactly accurate either. Here's an earlier discussion on it. I have the reissued R and '69 S kits from a couple years ago and can confirm what is in those posts. I also have an original '73 RS, the body in that kit is identical to the one in the '67R kit. [I just compared all 3 to make sure]

Round 2 Announcements as of 9/12/25 from Stevens Intl.

I think a lot of the people that are interested in it like it because it will be the only one that can be built factory stock. A new body [and engine] for the Phantom Vicky would be cool too but any dedicated hotrod builder can easily adapt any '32 body to that chassis. -
Not sure what the fit would be like but I bet you could make the hood from one of these work. it's 1/25. They're both the same kit.

The one Monogram did in the '80s is. He's looking for an original AMT annual one from 1964, 1/25

Don't know how I missed this but she's a real beauty, Jeff.

Coming Soon from Atomic City's JoHan line of new kits

That is my understanding too Craig. But , good idea in theory but dosen't hold up in practice if the aim is to keep people from winning by simply buying and adding aftermarket stuff. While anyone can certinly buy parts you still have to have the skills to use it. All the aftermarket add-ons in the world won't help a mediocre builder win against a talented one using only kit parts. Case in point, the only contest I entered my '66 pictured above took "Best Mopar" at the show against may other entrents, a lot of which did have at least basic underhood detail added, even though it is a simple curbside kit with just a chassis plate made from sheet plastic holding the wheels in place. Skills trump cash every time. -
Just a heads up for anyone who has any trades or purchases that may use Canada Post,, as of about an hour ago, they're on strike again so .

Afraid I don't have any to spare Lenny but the back bumper from the new tool AMT '62 fits the AMT '61-'63 annuals like it was made for them if that helps. Tail lights are slightly different between the 3 though if that matters. Front bumper and hood are different enough to not fit without quite a bit of work though unfortunatly. Not to mention the grilles also being different between all 3 years..

Thanks Alex. It took a lot of grinding. Not done yet, have to radius around the window openings and true them up before I can start paint. My buddy Steve-O printed them for me. I think he bought the file from Z-Force but it may have been another vendor.

Decided to use the tri-carb flathead from the Revell '32 sedan. fit in with minor mods, kinda surprised it was so easy actually. Only mod I had to do to the engine was file down the attached motor mounts. On the frame I cut out the small tranny mount and engine mounts and added pins that will go into holes drilled in the mounts on the engine. Pretty simple swap.

Drag City Casting FB Post

Well it looks like Keith is out of the decal business too. One of the members here posted last week that Keith told him that his order would be the last set of decals he would be printing. It's a shame but that's how it goes in this hobby. If you want something get it when you see it because it might not be there tomorrow. -
