Bummer. I have a perfect body!
-
Holy boobs that is awesome. Good luck at the show!
-
See... the knowledge base here is amazing! And Brian, if you have a chassis/suspension, front bumper and tail light lenses for an 1/25 MPC '74 Cuda I would gladly trade this for them

I've never heard of this car. Looks like a cool little kit though. Good stuff
-
That roof so fits like balls man. It just SUITS the body! Excellent blend and one to piss off both the die hard ford & chevy peeps lol.

I got this kit off ebay as kind of an impulse buy. Once it arrived I found the body had been warped from being crushed a little in the box. Either from the original purchase or from the owner having something else stacked on top of it for a long time. But either way the damage is repairable with a bit of hot water and patience. That being said, I am rather disappointed in the level of detail the kit has. I mean it is totally buildable, but some oversights and/or just plain simplicity in the tooling makes this, to me, a kit I would rather not build. It has a couple of redeeming features, but they are not enough to outweigh the areas it is lacking to me, so unless I had some kind of sentimental attachment to this particular year and make of car it just wouldn't get built. Just to list a couple things, here is the manifold for the triple two barrels. As you can see the end two carby mounts are crisp, but the middle one seems to have been molded as a melted blob! Now, here is the brake booster/master cylinder. Yes it looks okay from the top, it can be detailed up nicely. But it is only half! Take a look at the exhaust. Molded with the diff and rear suspension as a single piece. With massive blocks connecting it to the axle housings. And how about the molded in details in the engine bay... Is this the tallest battery ever used in any car in history or what??? The kit does have a second option of intake though, offering twin four barrel carbs with a nice sized stack for each. They forgot to include a manifold to go with them though. What was revell thinking? This one is going to go in the stash I guess, and it is 1/24 so I don't think I have much use for it maybe apart from the wheels. Maybe one day...

Yeah Jim it's frustrating. Trying to maneuver a tube of super glue so close to the Alclad rockers had a couple of contact blobs from the wires and it sticks out like dogs balls!

How's progress Kev? -
Thanks Tom

What on earth is that? It is nicely built, and the finish is superb yes, but still I have no idea if it is a car or something George Jetson would hover in. I assume it is the Mirth Mobile from the references the previous posters have used, but I didn't know the car was actually factory produced!

Okay. So, I have assembled and glued the interior. Most of the plumbing and wiring too. I have the upper and lower radiator hoses ready, the battery to be connected, the washer bottle hose and the loom to be positioned and that will be the bay done. Why on earth I went so detailed I can't remember. But just because you can, doesn't mean you should! Having so many tiny fiddly pieces in and around the engine has led to a few slip ups with the glue. Is there some kind of syringe glue that can be used for precise application without the risk of getting blobs where you want dabs??? Here is how she is sitting at the moment:

I almost have the bay done and the interior is glued in now. As I don't have the console I am deliberating on what to do shifter-wise. Posting an update at the moment -

A pair of 66 Novas- small update for now on the wagon

Dang it. You're really a wizard ain't you Jim? No way a human could produce that awesome quality and at the rate you do without using some kind of magic to slow down time or make the parts life-size then shrink them again when you're done painting them. You truly are amazing man. These are gonna be knock-outs like your other builds. -
Thankyou all for dropping by and your kind comments. I have progress! Will post pics tomorrow, but the interior is fitted, and the engine bay is almost completed. Stay tuned...

awesome colour for a flamed custom. Love the jacked up look you have too. The decals running over the door gaps kind of take away from the finish, but she looks great in any case mate. Well done.

You blokes have me worried I had done my lines wrong! I just spent the last couple hours scouring online for info on the fuel lines and I get mixed information. The most consistent though is that there was a return line on the Chevelle. That image above is used on the host site for the elcamino and wagon also, so may not be entirely correct, as the same site sells this sender unit http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dyndetail~Z5Z5Z50001035a~Z5Z5Z57237~P89.00~~~~S4C20K9WVC12210854730c~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50001035a which has a 3/8" fuel line and a 1/4" return. This site also sells them http://www.am-autoparts.com/Chevy/Chevelle/fuel-sending-unit/AM-91238881/370384.html Here is a pic of a guys tank he is using on his '67, which has both fuel and return pipes http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/485183-chevelle-fuel-tank-2.html#post10987846 And a couple pics of another guys frame before resto: And a restored chassis with the same shaped lines installed: I think I may just let my brain relax a little now, unless someone can go out to their driveway and take a picture of their '67 SS 396 fuel line/s I will just let my model stay with the return line I have done already. I know it is not really important, but I did the research before I plumbed my chassis and I would hate to think I definitely got it wrong lol -

No probs mate. From what I could find the '67 runs a fuel line and beside it a smaller return line. -

Here is the brake and fuel lines on my AMT '67: And the proportioning valve for the brake system, as well as the splitter for the rears: And one of the references I had: -
Thanks Joe I will admit that some of this is straight up doing my head in though!

Oh yeah. I seem to have had a bit of warpage on the front fenders, they have twisted inwards a little. I have had to gently heat them and tweak them back out again. You can barely see it here, but the top of the grill is just not meeting flush. I have stripped the front and rear bumpers too, it seems the aqua clear from Alclad too some of the chrome effect away making them appear silver. Will be repainting them in the next few days.

Just been fiddle-farting around lately. Have the engine mounted and hooking up lines and wires and the firewall is pretty much done now and about to be added to finish that part of the wiring. Will still have the battery and front loom to do. The alternator is wired now also, but that will go up under the front quarter panel and join to the headlight loom. The motor has been given a wash with Tamiya smoke to push/pull details too. Here's a few pics where it's at:
