  1. I'm worried he has coated it in lighter fluid and given it a Vikings Funeral
  2. I have had a few myself Slushy. Mostly in previously opened kits, only the one NIB. I can see how the suggestions posted can cause it, and sometimes it is an easy fix, but sometimes the body is way beyond repair. I actually have a ford pickup in a box and the chassis is the warped part, it could almost be used to make a drag car launching at the line it is that twisted. Torque!
  3. Looking great Joe. The chassis is sitting nice and plumb. So much measuring to do once you throw the instructions away hey?
  4. I have the Chevelle body in the brake fluid again, this is the 3rd time! So, it is the same fluid as the last times, it was pretty clean after the 2nd strip so I poured most of it back into the bottle. This time it is a bit milky (I think that may be because the resin wax I used when polishing the body) and flaky. I think I will filter it through some stockings and return it to the bottle again, as it stripped the paint quite well again. So. How many times have you re-used the same fluid to strip paint? How long does it maintain it's stripping capabilities? Thoughts?
  5. Yeah, I am pretty sure I put a coat on that was too wet, as it began fogging a little. So instead of letting that cure out I added a couple more light coats and then left it for the night. So I guess it cracked from the inside out as the middle coat tried to dry when the top coats already were. Eh! lol... ain't it grand? At least they are only little cars, if I did it to someones real car I would probably have high velocity lead poisoning pretty quick! As a bonus though, at least now I will just remove the scripts and badges. Thats one problem solved
  6. lol... cheers Joe
  7. Yay, another one I will be following Shall it receive the extra detailing you tested on the '67 also?
  8. ah, I've not seen the harley one either. But for 10 bucks I won't complain (I probably will swear a fair bit though)

    1967 GTX

very cool. And clean for a 20+ year build! Mine all had dust on them before I even finished their build...
  10. Is this a rare kit or something? Can't find it on any american sites or ebay US. So is it uncommon or just a really really really bad kit?
  11. Ah there is already a thread for this. Oops! A bit rude of them to market it as 1/25th! I have one of the heavy chevy kits and I remember sitting it side by side with AMT's 70 Chevelle and it was markedly larger.
  12. Hey thanks for the words everyone! Yep, paint BLOWS! Ah well. The body and bonnet are in brake fluid for the third time lol. Hey thanks for the words everyone! Yep, paint BLOWS! Ah well. The body and bonnet are in brake fluid for the third time lol.
  13. Wow man, nicely 'made'! Where did you get the reference for how it should look? And did you scarper parts from other ufo type kits or scratch build what is there? Either way it looks great mate. Now... I wonder if I can scratch build a life sized version of Skye...
  14. Well that's certainly more involved than my process of just licking both sides and hoping they stick on! Looks great man.
  15. She came out slick as Tim. Very nice and clean finish. A few wires and hoses can really make a difference to a build hey? Awesome job bud. Was a pleasure to watch the process.
  16. Ha Jim. Nothing wrong with tending to the ladies wishes. I hope she is doing okay man. Look forward to seeing more.
  17. lol thanks guys Yup Joe, thats modelling! Thanks for looking in Jason. I'm far from good, but I don't do shows and such it is just for my own entertainment. So the finish doesn't really matter so much. But I do like to have as few flaws as possible! Yeah Jim. Paint? Who needs it? I might just leave everything in primer now lol
  18. too right that is a great job for a weekend build! Really well done man. A little wash with some smoke and the chrome and wheels will have depth aplenty.
  19. What? Did you have a day off Jim? Don't tell me there's no progress!
  20. My paint has cracked aaaaaaargh. I'm gonna have to strip this thing AGAIN. Guess I didn't leave it long enough before clearing.
  21. I used to own a couple of Valiant VG Coupes. They were the same body as the Dart in the USA. So when I bought the Dart kit I thought about making it into a replica of my old Val. I only got as far as filling in the bonnet for the body mods lol. But I was scratch building a 245 Hemi for it, and this is how far I got:
  22. If you do Kev, make sure you get them new! I got the rod new, but the nomad was given to me pulled apart by a dude I met a long time ago. It had been tossed around a fair bit and he had hacked into the chassis to tub it etc. Though he did include some cool extra parts in the box lol. Here is how I got it, and a pic of the '34 that I may one day do a total build up on.
  23. I think you forgot to read the box lid man. It says 'Can be built 1 of 2 ways'.
