  1. Ah good idea Jeff. I have a few cd's of bands that were pretty terrible I could use! I have paint and trim! Instead of using the course aluminium for the base I used AutoAir's BaddaBling. It gives a deeper shade and smaller flake. I still had too much paint build up, and as such the badges on the panels got buried. Completely! So I just sanded down over the top of them. I will come up with some way of finishing them, but if all else fails I may have to buy a photoetch set to use the scripts and badges. Poop. But thats what you get when the body has been sanded and painted a couple of times I guess. Here is how she is sitting and a mock up for now: I do have to fix a couple bits of trim. My panda paws are not great for precision work! And a couple pics with flash:
  2. ^^^ poop. Too late to change mine now!
  3. Top job derelicting that. Spot on weathering and all. I kind of doubt that a car that's been sitting that long would still have perfect air in the tires though.
  4. Nice looking Corvair mate. Well done.
  5. Was just about to say the same... Great idea and I can't believe I never thought of it lol. I have tins of washers in the shed! Looking great Joe. Another thing for spindles (if you don't have brass handy of course) is the plastic tube of an ear bud (you guys call them q-tips i think?).
  6. Nice start matey. Can't say I have seen anyone use wool for leads before though
  7. Really nice step-by-steps Jim. Thanks for posting it and taking the effort. Like everyone else has said, your interiors are on point as always! Inspiration.
  8. lmao Kev... bunch of right muppets we are. I have a 1/16 '34 Ford 3 window and a 1/16 '57 Nomad in the cabinet. The rod is actually my avatar.
  9. Is this kit definitely 1/25? Or is a re-pop of the Monogram 1/24 Heavy Chevy? Has anyone built it and how is the detail of the kit?
  10. lol yep Mark. I knew she was an old kit. And it is good to be building again! Just not for my ass, sitting on it too much is making it wider. All good Al. I have a few hotrods to put up also. Some of my totally awesome skills in building will be on display lol.
  11. yeah sure is Al. I have a few new acquisitions, but would like to finish some of these that have been waiting patiently for the last 20 years Plenty more to add. Maybe tomorrow I will get more pics, plus list some of the ones I already have gone through. Stay tuned ...
  12. As posted in my 'Wanted' thread, here is the old MPC Cuda that I am trying to figure out some parts to rebuild. Also, an odd kit for my stash, but I bought this way back just for the wheels. I used them to on a TransAm build lol. The rest of the kit is in the box unbuilt. It is just missing the wheels/tires and the racing seats, there is still a stock set on the trees. Fujimi make quality yeah, just not my taste. I used to do that a lot. The drag cars in my stash are still in the boxes, I only bought them for the wheels and the 57's engine, and the Old's I grabbed the rocker covers and the wheel tubs too. I don't remember the Beretta, but it is long gone.
  13. Now this is a '50 Chev pickup I bought and straight away chopped. I don't even think the parts trees were even out of the bags before I had the first cuts on the pillars lol. `Some basic chassis work to tub her, a kind of dodgey tub using the lid of a spray can of some kind I think it was, And various other mods before I painted her some crazy purple colour. That got stripped off for further work on the body, but that is where the project stopped as I stopped building! P.S. Note the right hand drive conversion to the dash. Where possible I used to do that to each build, since we drive on the right side of the road
  14. Now this is an original(?) MPC GTO. It was given to me by an old dude I was an apprentice to. He had built it way back when, all brush painted and he'd even used cotton thread for the plug leads! I told him I would have a go at rebuilding it someday. It's complete with all the bits he used to build it, plus 1 or 2 other parts I have in the box. I am pretty sure this kit has been re-issued a few times, but do they still have the FUNDIMENTIONS logo on the inside of the chassis still? Or the dirty big sink holes at the corners of the fuel tank?
  15. Firstly, here is a Monogram '70 Heavy Chevy Chevelle that was stripped ready for renewing. I have multiple parts for her as I had a few kits that I had done back in the day.
  16. I have about half that again in a cabinet, hot rods and a merc and a few '53 chevs Yeah one of them Ecto's I began chopping, was going to do a custom hearse if I recall. The other is untouched but has the '59 Caddy that Monogram did (I think?) in it to combine into something neat. And yes, the possibilities... lol
  17. Sorry for the loss of your brother man, but well done finishing his builds. I know if I passed away I would like someone to at least finish what I had started, an unfinished kit is a sad thing. Welcome back to the bench buddy
  18. So over the last month or so I have been sorting through what is left of my stash. A few years back I didn't actually think I would ever be back to building, and I parted with about 2/3 of what I had stored away. Sold most of it on ebay, threw some stuff away that was broken and/or useless (some of which might have been rare now that I think about it!!!) and what I had left I just couldn't bring myself to toss out. I had the thought that I may one day come into contact with a builder or some kid who wanted to start modelling and I would be able to hand over what I had left and maybe some base knowledge and they'd be off to a great start. So, here I am, now back at the bench and kicking myself for selling all those unbuilt kits!!! Here is part of what I have left. some boxes contain the actual model depicted, others are used to hold different kits or mash-ups. Over the next few posts I will add some pics and info on some of these.
  19. Hola Dave! I'm Western Sydney also. Penrith lol. Welcome back to the bench. There's quite a few of us returning after 20 odd years away from the plastic.
  20. Just found the GTX you guys were talking about on ebay too http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vintage-1991-Monogram-Plymouth-GTX-2-n-1-1-24-Model-Kit-/331540523628?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4d315aea6c
  21. It's a model????
  22. That is I have a perfect Cuda body. My body is about as far from perfect as it can get without being deemed NSFW.
