Oh. Yeah. I already commented on that too! Mum might not be the only one in the family with dementia -
this looks absolutely awesome. Really nice detailing and weathering. Some nice parts there for restoration!

Thanks for looking guys Well I decided I wasn't going to just touch her up, I would never exactly colour match it. So she got a full strip again. And since I have her naked, I decided to do some added detailing to the engine bay while I'm at it. Since I have to make a new radiator support panel anyhow. I have sliced up some box tube styrene and used that for the inner fender areas on each side, shaped to fit the inner wheel wells. Have a radiator cut down to size and a fan shroud also, probably not GM parts but who's gonna blame me? I also shaved a bit of the top of the firewall to add to give me an area to add some detail, i.e. the rubber seal. Probably making my life harder but oh well. Still have to find/make a battery and washer bottle/reservoir. And it looks like I'm gonna scratch build the heater box as the kit one is a bit WTF???

If this is what a 1967 Chevelle heater box looks like: & Can I ask what the frig this kit part is supposed to be???

You all make sound arguments for the tried and tested methods you use. As I progress I will try different ways to find one I like also. I have actually purchased Alclad's Aqua clear which they say is for use over the chrome. Yet to test it out though. Anyone else tried it?

dude that shine is spot on. It looks so wet and smooooooth. The lenses are looking great also. You're really knocking this comeback out of the park man. -
Is this car modelling or hot rodding?

Well I guess to a dwarf it would just be called a car! But whatever it is you call it, it sure is awesome to see someone creating something and doing it well. Good on him I say. -
this came up looking sweet mate. Great work.

That is just plain old lusty! I love the '53. I had one but had to sell it unfinished, and i still miss it to this day. You really nailed the look, and the finish is superb man. Kudos. When did Lindberg do a 53 though???
-
Sweet looking concept. You really finished it off well and it looks awesome man.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! Such a stupid mistake I know, but when painting the body and bonnet at the same time to get a proper colour match I also left the bonnet taped in place when clearing. Then the clear dried didn't it... which essentially sealed the bonnet in place! I tried to gently slice through the gap to separate them but the damage was done, paint lifted from the fender as pressure was applied. Dammit. I thought it was while sanding that I would screw it up lol. I am gonna proceed to sand the body and as long as that is okay, I will mask up and redo the top fenders/wiper areas and the bonnet again. What a foolish mistake... If all goes well I will keep the blue, if not, she will be good old black with white stripes. Look at my idiocy!
-
Thanks RR... time will tell, and it's getting close to sanding time... *shudder* Thanks for the info HP! I did not know that. Over here Holden (GM) was still using spring clips up til 1988 from what I know, until they started using coil packs for the new cars then.

that's wicked evil mean and nasty. Love it. Great build and detailing mate.

Double checking and test fitting and working out the position of the sway bar mounts on the lower control arms and making sure things fit and clear each other and yadda yadda yadda. Almost done with the front end, just making sure everythings gonna work nicely before final paint and touch-ups and glue.

Funny how we're in the same boat! Seeing all the quality builds here is making me stretch my build an extra leap also. But as Joe said, take it easy and try not to get into the finish rush. I'm dreading wet sanding mine as I reckon I will burn through at some point, and I'm trying to not even think about fitting the glass! -
she's looking great. How are you doing the flip?
