  1. Thanks for the kind words. My last 2 builds have been beaters , and I am beginning to prefer them to a show winning paint finish. More character maybe.
  2. I tried a paint technique for the body detailed by DamnCranky. I like it , but I think I went too heavy with it. Anyway its built as a curbside with a tarp thrown over the back to cover up the lack of tail light detail. I cut down the engine from the Monogram 65 GTO kit to fit under the hood. Interior is stock ( with included Camaro dash lol) with flat red seats with a wash of black detailer. The 4 pt cage is scratch built and the shifter is from a stock car. The wheels and front tires are from the GTO kit as well. Rear slicks are from the Amt Nova Pro street kit. Thanks for looking.
  3. What about building the actual Cannonball cars vs the movie cars? Would this be permitted in the build-off as well?
  4. Sauber my hat is off to you - that is some amazing work. I have no where near that kind of patience to pull that off. Well done.
  5. I am building the companion 1980 Trans Am kit and it is equally dismal. All they did was tool up different front and rear ends for the 2 kits. The Pontiac still has a Camaro dash in it. What I don't get is the fact that Testors switched the wheels sets between the 2 kits. The Camaro has the Trans Am wheels , and the Pontiac kit has what I believe are Monte Carlo SS wheels from the 80s.
  6. Great looking build -well done!
  7. I just mean its done in the Joe Dirt style- like his Superbird.
  8. Good stuff Ryan - keep it up!
  9. I just wanted to try my hand at the rust and dirt side of the hobby.I used the rustall system and the set from Sophisticated finishes.I must say I enjoyed it and plan on building some more cars with "character". lol
  10. Is the idea to rub the paint off of the high spots? I have a package of guitar stings I need to use so this will help.
  11. Wow great looking gasser! All it needs is a few stickers and it would be perfect.
  12. Very tasty Corvair! I dig those Radir wheels, excellent build.
  13. That is a cool bug my friend. I love those old skool gassers. They sure look like a handful to drive. Fun stuff.
  14. Good looking Olds man. Hey what did you use to mask off the chrome on the wheels? I always mess that kind of stuff up.
  15. Just dust it off and put it in the display case. Leave it alone.
  16. I build for the chicks man.
  17. I feel like an idiot- failed to read original post. I ask because I have some future projects that could use a turbo or two. I will check out your source listed.
  18. Wow that is one tasty set of wheels!
  19. Good start- what are you going to use for a turbo? Scratchbuilt?
  20. Wow that is amazing work. If that doesn't garner magazine coverage , I don't know what will. Well done.
  21. Looks like one fast Nova. I need some of those History Channel decals, did you make them or buy them?
  22. Wow that looks good. Did you have any fitment issues with the build?
  23. Very cool indeed.
  24. Oh hell yeah! That thing looks great , those fenders do look flimsy. lol
